  • Object-unital groupoid graded rings, crossed products and separability
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Communications in Algebra. - : Informa UK Limited. - 0092-7872 .- 1532-4125. ; 44:4, s. 1676-1696
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We extend the classical construction by Noether of crossed product algebras, defined by finite Galois field extensions, to cover the case of separable (but not necessarily finite or normal) field extensions. This leads us naturally to consider non-unital groupoid graded rings of a particular type that we call object unital. We determine when such rings are strongly graded, crossed products, skew groupoid rings and twisted groupoid rings. We also obtain necessary and sufficient criteria for when object unital groupoid graded rings are separable over their principal component, thereby generalizing previous results from the unital case to a non-unital situation. © 2020 The Author(s). • Can the degree of retrograde diastolic flow in abnormal umbilical artery flow velocity waveforms predict pregnancy outcome?
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology. - : Wiley. - 1469-0705 .- 0960-7692. ; 19:3, s. 229-234
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • OBJECTIVE: Reverse end-diastolic flow is the most pathological type of the umbilical artery flow velocity waveform. We aimed to investigate whether additional prognostic information can be obtained from umbilical artery waveforms in cases with reverse end-diastolic flow. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Umbilical artery Doppler velocity waveforms from 44 fetuses with reverse end-diastolic flow were analyzed and the following parameters measured: the highest amplitude and the area below the maximum velocity curve of forward and reverse flow (A, B and C, D, respectively) and the duration of forward and reverse flow (Tc and Td, respectively). Ratios A/B, C/D and Tc/Td were calculated. The cut-off values for A/B, C/D and Tc/Td with the best predictive values for perinatal death were established with the help of receiver operating characteristics curves. The three curves were compared with each other. RESULTS: Of the three ratios, A/B and C/D had the best capacity to predict perinatal death. Both ratios had acceptable sensitivities, specificities and positive predictive values. In this regard, A/B and C/D were comparable. The cut-off values for A/B and C/D were 4.3 and 4.52, respectively. Survivors had I significantly higher A/B and C/D ratios than non-survivors (P = 0.0001 and 0.0003, respectively). Significantly more fetuses with A/B or C/D below the established cut-off values had pulsations in the venous system (P < 0.05). In fetuses with a gestational age < =210 gestational days the survival rate was significantly higher in those with A/B or C/D above the cut-off values (P = 0.03 and 0.003, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: The A/B or C/D ratio can be used for quantification of the reverse end-diastolic flow waveforms in the umbilical artery and may offer additional information to the evaluation of fetal condition.

  • The grammaticalization of the have perfect in Dutch - a corpus study of contextual extension and semantic generalization.
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Language sciences. - : Elsevier BV. - 0388-0001. ; 36, s. 103-112
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The article investigates the grammaticalization of the have perfect in Dutch by means of a corpus study of historical legal texts dating from the middle of the thirteenth century until the end of the eighteenth century. The focus of the investigation is on the gradual extension of the have + past participle construction in contexts that were not attested before. The study of the status of the subject, the direct object and the past participle in the corpus shows that the construction is increasingly used in a wider array of contexts. Moreover, the corpus search indicates that meaning components of the have + past participle construction are lost in the process of contextual extension. More specifically, the construction is increasingly used in the background of the discourse in order to expand on events that happened before the time of reference.

  • Numerical and experimental study of the effect of gas evolution in electrolytic pickling
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Journal of Applied Electrochemistry. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0021-891X .- 1572-8838. ; 36:12, s. 1367-1379
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • As part of a progressive approach to model the electrolytic pickling process, this paper focuses on the important aspect of hydrogen and oxygen gas evolution on the electrodes and on the steel strip being pickled. The system considered consists of type 316 stainless steel pickled in aqueous sodium sulphate, with lead anodes and stainless steel cathodes. The mathematical model is two-dimensional steady-state, and includes the differential equations describing the effect of migration, giving the potential and current fields, and the Tafel kinetic rate expressions for hydrogen and oxygen gas generation. Experiments were conducted to obtain a better understanding of the process and for model validation. Good agreement between the experimental measurements of the global current efficiency and the model predictions was obtained.

  • Current status of clinical proteogenomics in lung cancer
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Expert Review of Proteomics. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1478-9450 .- 1744-8387. ; 16:9, s. 761-772
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Proteogenomics, a way to integrate genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, have emerged as a way to understand molecular causes in cancer tumorigenesis. This understanding will help identify therapeutic targets that are urgently needed to improve individual patient outcomes. Areas covered: To explore underlying molecular mechanisms of lung cancer subtypes, several efforts have used proteogenomic approaches that integrate next generation sequencing (NGS) and mass spectrometry (MS)-based technologies. Expert opinion: A large-scale, MS-based, proteomic analysis, together with both NGS-based genomic data and clinicopathological information, will facilitate establishing extensive databases for lung cancer subtypes that can be used for further proteogenomic analyzes. Proteogenomic strategies will further be understanding of how major driver mutations affect downstream molecular networks, resulting in lung cancer progression and malignancy, and how therapy-resistant cancers resistant are molecularly structured. These strategies require advanced bioinformatics based on a dynamic theory of network systems, rather than statistics, to accurately identify mutant proteins and their affected key networks.

  • A Stereodivergent Strategy for the Preparation of Corynantheine and Ipecac Alkaloids, Their Epimers, and Analogues: Efficient Total Synthesis of ()- Dihydrocorynantheol, ()-Corynantheol, ()-Protoemetinol, ()- Corynantheal, ()-Protoemetine, and Related Natural and Nonnatural Compound

  • Ingår i: Chemistry - A European Journal. - : Wiley. - 0947-6539 .- 1521-3765. ; 17:49, s. 13814-13824
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Abstract: Here we present a general and common catalytic asymmetric strategy for the total and formal synthesis of a broad number of optically active natural products from the corynantheine and ipecac alkaloid families, for example, indoloACHTUNGTRENUNG[2,3-a]- and benzo[a]quinolizidines. Construction of the core alkaloid skeletons with the correct absolute and relative stereochemistry relies on an enantioselective and diastereodivergent one-pot cascade sequence followed by an additional diastereodivergent reaction step. This allows for enantio- and diastereoselective synthesis of three out of four possible epimers of the quinolizidine alkaloids that begin from common and easily accessible starting materials by using a common synthetic route. Focus has been made on excluding protecting groups and limiting isolation and purification of synthetic intermediates. This methodology is applied in the total synthesis of the natural products ()-dihydrocorynantheol, ()-hirsutinol, ()-corynantheol, ()-protometinol, ()-dihydrocorynantheal, ()-corynantheal, ()-protoemetine, ()-(15S)-hydroxydihydrocorynantheol, and an array of their nonnatural epimers. The potential of this strategy is also demonstrated in the synthesis of biologically interesting natural product analogues not accessible through synthetic elaboration of alkaloid precursors available from nature, for example, thieno[3,2-a]quinolizidine derivatives. We also report the formal synthesis of (+)-dihydrocorynantheine, ()-emetine, ()-cephaeline, ()-tubulosine, and ()-deoxytubulosine.

  • The association between physical activity, physical fitness and development of metabolic disorders
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Pediatric Obesity. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1747-7174 .- 1747-7166. ; 6, s. 29-34
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background. Cardiovascular (CVD) risk factors have been shown to cluster in some children. This has been shown in children from the age of nine years, but recently we found no clustering in six-year old children. It is uncertain when clustering develops and which parameters are related to the development of clustered CVD risk. Methods. A longitudinal study including 484 children aged six years. Three years later, 434 children participated in a follow-up. The main outcome was clustering of five CVD risk factors: homeostasis assessment insulin resistance (HOMA), total cholesterol:HDL ratio, triglyceride (TG), systolic blood pressure and sum of four skinfolds. Independent variables were physical activity and cardiorespiratory fitness. Results. CVD risk factors were independently distributed in the six-year-olds, and there was no association between composite risk factor score and physical fitness or activity even if there were obese and unfit children in the population. Clustering of CVD risk factors was found at the age of nine years, and the observed number with three or more CVD risk factors was 3.33 (95% CI: 1.41-7.87) times higher than expected if risk factors had been independently distributed. At the age of nine years, the lowest quartile of fitness had 34.9 (95% CI: 8.0-152.5) times higher risk of having clustered risk than the most fit quartile. Conclusion. Clustering of CVD risk factors developed between the age of six and nine years. At nine years of age clustered CVD risk was highly associated with low fitness level.
