Utvärdering av gemensam familjehemsorganisation

- Det här är den första utvärderingen av Gemensam familjehemsorganisation (GFO) sedan organisationen gick in verkställighetsfas i juli 2019. Syftet med utvärderingen är att utvärdera GFO:s verksamhet fram till och med 2020 genom ett fokus på GFO som organisation, måluppfyllnad, samverkan med kommunerna samt kommunernas förutsättningar att ta ansvar för sin del av måluppfyllnaden. För utvärderingen har familjehem, jourhem samt medarbetare och chefer på GFO och i kommunerna intervjuats. Resultaten från intervjuerna presenteras utifrån GFO:s och kommunernas ansvarsområden; samverkan, rekrytering, kartläggning och matchning, utbildning och stöd. Resultaten synliggör både framgångar och utmaningar i verksamheten och visar att GFO uppfyller 4 av 7 verksamhets- och effektmål. Den avslutande diskussionen fokuserar på konkreta förslag att arbeta vidare med; att skapa tydlighet i verksamheten vad gäller gränsdragningar kring GFO:s uppdrag och kommunernas vardagliga stöd till familjehemmen, att tydliggöra kommunikationskedjor och kommunikativa roller samt att i högre grad acceptera och beakta kommunernas varierande förutsättningar i det fortsatta strategiska och långsiktiga arbetet.

- This text is an exploration of collaborative thinking and writing through theories, methods, and experiences on the topic of the child, children, and childhood. It is a collaborative written text (with 32 authors) that sprang out of the experimental workshop Child Studies Multiple. The workshop and this text are about daring to stay with mess, “un-closure” , and uncertainty in order to investigate the (e)motions and complexities of being either a child or a researcher. The theoretical and methodological processes presented here offer an opportunity to shake the ground on which individual researchers stand by raising questions about scientific inspiration, theoretical and methodological productivity, and thinking through focusing on process, play, and collaboration. The effect of this is a questioning of the singular academic ‘I’ by exploring and showing what a plural ‘I’ can look like. It is about what the multiplicity of voice can offer research in a highly individualistic time. The article allows the reader to follow and watch the unconventional trial-and-error path of the ongoing-ness of exploring theories and methods together as a research community via methods of drama, palimpsest, and fictionary.

Navigating barriers and facilitators to support victims of violence in a close relationship with cognitive disability : Social workers´ perspectives

- The risk of violence in close relationships is higher for people with cognitive disabilities than in the general population. This is due to social isolation, and physical or financial dependence on others in everyday activities. To enable adequate protection for these victims, social workers need to take decisions and provide support that is based on knowledge about both violence and disability-related needs. By contrast, people with cognitive disabilities are de facto less likely to be provided with support adapted to their needs. Therefore, this study explores how social workers navigate barriers and facilitating aspects to support victims of violence with cognitive disabilities.Data were collected in individual interviews with 18 social workers, and analysed using content analysis. The inclusion criteria were 3 years or more experience in identifying and/or assessing exposure to violence in close relationships among people with cognitive disabilities.The emerging categories illustrate how social workers face dilemmas when navigating the balance between individuals’ rights for self-determination and complex needs for protection and support. The policies that frame social workers' practice in Sweden are discussed in relation to the need for flexible interventions and accessible support based on interprofessional collaboration related to violence and cognitive disability. The categories also problematize the power dynamics involved and how different actors’ experiences, values, and power influence the support process. The different actors involved add to the complexity that social workers need to navigate.This presentation focus on how social workers' practice is governed and hindered by policy, a focus on individuals' rights for self-determination, and the need to support and protect a group that may have difficulties to identify both violence and their needs for support.

ARID1a Associates with Lymphoid-Restricted Transcription Factors and Has an Essential Role in T Cell Development

- Maturation of lymphoid cells is controlled by the action of stage and lineage-restricted transcription factors working in concert with the general transcription and chromatin remodeling machinery to regulate gene expression. To better understand this functional interplay, we used Biotin Identification in human embryonic kidney cells to identify proximity interaction partners for GATA3, TCF7 (TCF1), SPI1, HLF, IKZF1, PAX5, ID1, and ID2. The proximity interaction partners shared among the lineagerestricted transcription factors included ARID1a, a BRG1-associated factor complex component. CUT&RUN analysis revealed that ARID1a shared binding with TCF7 and GATA3 at a substantial number of putative regulatory elements in mouse T cell progenitors. In support of an important function for ARID1a in lymphocyte development, deletion of Aridla in early lymphoid progenitors in mice resulted in a pronounced developmental arrest in early T cell development with a reduction of CD4(+)CD8(+) cells and a 20-fold reduction in thymic cellularity. Exploring gene expression patterns in DN3 cells from Wt and Aridla-deficient mice suggested that the developmental block resided in the DN3a to DN3b transition, indicating a deficiency in beta-selection. Our work highlights the critical importance of functional interactions between stage and lineage-restricted factors and the basic transcription machinery during lymphocyte differentiation.

- The COVID-19 pandemic has elicited a shift from campus classrooms to distance education in higher education worldwide, shaping not only students’ experiences, but also those of teachers, especially those who never have taught online. In addition, the pandemic created a meta-context that has positioned distance education as something different from previous efforts. This study aimed to investigate higher education teachers’ experiences during the transition from classroom to online teaching by using a collective auto-ethnography method based on 13 personal stories from Swedish faculty. For the abductive approach in the analysis, a framework that combines lifelong learning theory with the context collapse concept has been applied. The disjuncture that the pandemic has elicited created a situation in which teachers had to make sense of the fact that their previous experiences did not completely fit the new situation. Context collapse, a term used to describe encounters with many audiences in social media, has been introduced to highlight the clash between professional and private contexts in online educational platforms. Based on lifelong learning theories, we suggest that context collapse should be examined in terms of how it can help improve higher education, as it holds the potential to include the entire person – body and mind – in education.

Learning by doing : an observational study of the learning curve for ultrasonic fundus-first dissection in elective cholecystectomy

- BACKGROUND: Surgical safety and patient-related outcomes are important considerations when introducing new surgical techniques. Studies about the learning curves for different surgical procedures are sparse. The aim of this observational study was to evaluate the learning curve for ultrasonic fundus-first (FF) dissection in elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC).METHODS: The study was conducted at eight hospitals in Sweden between 2017 and 2019. The primary endpoint was dissection time, with secondary endpoints being intra- and postoperative complication rates and the surgeon's self-assessed performance level. Participating surgeons (n = 16) were residents or specialists who performed LC individually but who had no previous experience in ultrasonic FF dissection. Each surgeon performed fifteen procedures. Video recordings from five of the procedures were analysed by two external surgeons. Patient characteristics and data on complications were retrieved from the Swedish Registry of Gallstone Surgery and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (GallRiks).RESULTS: Dissection time decreased as experience increased (p = 0.001). Surgeons with limited experience showed more rapid progress. The overall complication rate was 14 (5.8%), including 3 (1.3%) potentially technique-related complications. Video assessment scores showed no correlation with the number of procedures performed. The self-assessed performance level was rated lower when the operation was more complicated (p < 0.001).CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that dissection time decreased with increasing experience. Most surgeons identified both favourable and unfavourable aspects of the ultrasonic FF technique. The ultrasonic device is considered well suited for gallbladder surgery, but most participating surgeons preferred to dissect the gallbladder the traditional way, beginning in the triangle of Calot. Nevertheless, LC with ultrasonic FF dissection can be considered easy to learn with a low complication rate during the initial learning curve, for both residents and specialists.
