  • Hard diffraction and parton rescattering
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: 40th International Symposium on Multiparticle Dynamics (ISMD 2010): Antwerp, Belgium, September 21-25, 2010. ; , s. 251-256
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • We present a new model where hard diffraction is an effect of soft gluon rescattering between partons emerging from the hard interaction and the color field of the proton. A resummation to all orders of multiple gluon exchanges leads to an overall color singlet exchange amplitude which reproduces the precise HERA data on diffractive deep inelastic scattering

  • Diffractive W-+/- production at hadron colliders as a test of color singlet exchange mechanisms
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Physical Review D. - 1550-7998 .- 1550-2368. ; 87:9, s. 094017-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We revisit diffractive and exclusive (WX)-X-+/- production at hadron colliders in different models for soft color exchanges. The process pp -> p[(WX)-X-+/-]p, and in particular a W-+/- charge asymmetry, has been suggested as a way to discriminate diffractive processes as being due to pomeron exchange in Regge phenomenology or QCD-based color reconnection models. Our detailed analysis of the latter models at LHC energies shows, however, that they give similar results as pomeron models for leading protons and central (WX)-X-+/- production, including a vanishing W-+/- charge asymmetry. We demonstrate that soft color exchange models provide a continuous transition from diffractive to inelastic processes and thereby include the intrinsic asymmetry of inelastic interactions while being at the same time sensitive to the underlying hadronization models. Such sensitivity also concerns the differential distributions in proton momentum and W-+/- transverse momentum, which opens possibilities to discriminate between different color reconnection models.

  • Diffractive deep inelastic scattering from multiple soft gluon exchange in QCD
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 695:1-4, s. 189-193
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Diffractive hard scattering is interpreted as the effect of soft gluon exchanges between the emerging energetic quarks and the nucleon's color field, resulting in an overall color singlet exchange. Summing multiple gluon exchanges to all orders leads to exponentiation and an amplitude in analytic form. Numerical evaluation reproduces the precise HERA data and gives new insights on the density of gluons in the proton.

  • QCD rescattering mechanism for diffractive deep inelastic scattering
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Physical review. D, Particles, fields, gravitation, and cosmology. - 1550-7998. ; 82:5, s. 054036-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present a QCD-based model where rescattering between final state partons in deep inelastic scattering leads to events with large rapidity gaps and a leading proton. In the framework of this model the amplitude for multiple gluon exchanges is calculated in the eikonal approximation to all orders in perturbation theory. Both large and small invariant mass M_X limits are considered. The model successfully describes the precise HERA data on the diffractive deep inelastic cross section in the whole available kinematical range and gives new insight into the density of gluons at very small momentum fractions in the proton.

  • Diffractive W production in SCI models
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of Science.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The soft color interaction model (SCI) as an add-on to standard perturbative QCD describes diffractive processes by allowing for additional soft color-octet exchanges below the conventional threshold for parton showering. We discuss how diffractive and inclusive event samples for diffractive hard processes can be obtained from a Monte Carlo in a unified way for pp → p[W± +X]p as an example, and discuss potential differences compared with Regge based models. In particular we address the question of a possible W± charge asymmetry and show that this observable approaches the result from pomeron based models in the limit of very forward final state protons.

  • Parton energy loss without transverse momentum broadening
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Indian Journal of Physics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0973-1458 .- 0019-5480 .- 0974-9845. ; 85:7, s. 1033-1038
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Jewel 1.0 Monte Carlo simulates jet evolution in a medium with a microscopic description of splitting and scattering processes. In the framework of this model we investigate the transverse momentum broadening due to medium effects in different scenarios. Depending on assumptions about hadronisation, we observe either a small increase or even a slight decrease of the mean transverse momentum, but no sizeable broadening. This appears to be a natural consequence of a model formulation which conserves energy and momentum microscopically at each splitting and at each scattering.
