  • Speaker adaptation of a three-dimensional tongue model
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: INTERSPEECH 2004. ; , s. 465-468
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Magnetic Resonance Images of nine subjects have been collected to determine scaling factors that can adapt a 3D tongue model to new subjects. The aim is to define few and simple measures that will allow for an automatic, but accurate, scaling of the model. The scaling should be automatic in order to be useful in an application for articulation training, in which the model must replicate the user's articulators without involving the user in a complicated speaker adaptation. It should further be accurate enough to allow for correct acoustic-to-articulatory inversion. The evaluation shows that the defined scaling technique is able to estimate a tongue shape that was not included in the training with an accuracy of 1.5 mm in the midsagittal plane and 1.7 mm for the whole 3D tongue, based on four articulatory measures.

  • On the taut string interpretation of the one-dimensional rudin–osher–fatemi model
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: ICPRAM 2018 - Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Pattern Recognition Applications and Methods. - : SCITEPRESS - Science and Technology Publications. - 9789897582769 ; , s. 233-244
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A new proof of the equivalence of the Taut String Algorithm and the one-dimensional Rudin–Osher–Fatemi model is presented. Based on duality and the projection theorem in Hilbert space, the proof is strictly elementary. Existence and uniqueness of solutions (in the continuous case) to both denoising models follow as by-products. The standard convergence properties of the denoised signal, as the regularizing parameter tends to zero, are recalled and efficient proofs provided. Moreover, a new and fundamental estimate on the denoised signal is derived. It implies, among other things, the strong convergence (in the space of functions of bounded variation) of the denoised signal to the in-signal as the regularization parameter vanishes.

  • Effective-field-theory predictions of the muon-deuteron capture rate
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. - 2469-9985 .- 2469-9993. ; 98:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We quantify the theoretical uncertainties of chiral effective-field-theory predictions of the muon-deuteron capture rate. Theoretical error estimates of this low-energy process are important for a reliable interpretation of forthcoming experimental results by the MuSun Collaboration. Specifically, we estimate the three dominant sources of uncertainties that impact theoretical calculations of this rate: those resulting from uncertainties in the pool of fit data used to constrain the coupling constants in the nuclear interaction, those due to the truncation of the effective field theory, and those due to uncertainties in the axial radius of the nucleon. For the capture rate into the S01 channel, we find an uncertainty of approximately 4.6s-1 due to the truncation in the effective field theory and an uncertainty of 3.9s-1 due to the uncertainty in the axial radius of the nucleon, both of which are similar in size to the targeted experimental precision of a few percent.

  • Action Research in Circus; Learning the Methods of Teaching the Methods of Artistic Research.
  • 2011
  • Proceedings (redaktörskap) (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In 2011, circus as an art form had only recently entered into the circuits of artistic education at a university level and into artistic research. A working group at the Circus department Stockholm University of the Arts, formely knows as DOCH,  has been teaching, analyzing and documenting a particular course that concerned the methods of artistic exploration in circus. The purpose of the project was to address the following question: which pedagogical methods can we develop to prepare students for the methods of artistic exploration and research, specifically in circus? Or in other words: how can we learn the method of teaching the methods of artistic research in the field of circus? The described project was initiated and directed by Marie-Andrée Robitaille. This documentation was written by Camilla Damkjaer in collaboration with Marie-Andrée Robitaille and the presentation was made with the participation of circus students from the bachelor program in circus arts namely Nathalie Bertholio, Quim Giron Figuerola, Patrik Elmnert.

  • Effect of Process Parameters on Distortion and Residual Stress in High-Pressure Die Cast AZ91D Components After Clean Blasting and Painting
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: International Journal of metalcasting. - : Springer. - 1939-5981 .- 2163-3193. ; 15:1, s. 241-258
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A high-pressure die-casting process was employed to produce AZ91D components. These cast components were exposed to three different post-treatments: (1) clean blasting, (2) clean blasting and painting, and (3) painting (without clean blasting). The influence of the process parameters first phase injection speed, temperature of fixed half of the die, cooling time, and intensification pressure on distortion and residual stress of the components after each post-treatment were investigated. The results showed that intensification pressure was the most significant factor among the four parameters.

  • Sensorimotor prediction and memory in object manipulation
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Canadian journal of experimental psychology. - : Canadian Psychological Association. - 1196-1961 .- 1878-7290. ; 55:2, s. 87-95
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • When people lift objects of different size but equal weight, they initially employ too much force for the large object and too little force for the small object. However, over repeated lifts of the two objects, they learn to suppress the size-weight association used to estimate force requirements and appropriately scale their lifting forces to the true and equal weights of the objects. Thus, sensorimotor memory from previous lifts comes to dominate visual size information in terms of force prediction. Here we ask whether this sensorimotor memory is transient, preserved only long enough to perform the task, or more stable. After completing an initial lift series in which they lifted equally weighted large and small objects in alternation, participants then repeated the lift series after delays of 15 minutes or 24 hours. In both cases, participants retained information about the weights of the objects and used this information to predict the appropriate fingertip forces. This preserved sensorimotor memory suggests that participants acquired internal models of the size-weight stimuli that could be used for later prediction.
