  • Intrusion Detection in Digital Twins for Industrial Control Systems
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: 2020 International Conference on Software, Telecommunications and Computer Networks (SoftCOM). - 9789532900996
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Nowadays, the growth of advanced technologies is paving the way for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and making them more efficient and smarter. However, this makes ICS more connected to communication networks that provide a potential platform for attackers to intrude into the systems and cause damage and catastrophic consequences. In this paper, we propose implementing digital twins that have been equipped with an intrusion detection algorithm. Our novel algorithm is able to detect attacks in a timely manner and also diagnose the type of attack by classification of different types of attacks. With digital twins, which are a new concept in ICS, we have virtual replicas of physical systems so that they precisely mirror the internal behavior of the physical systems. So by placing the intrusion detection algorithm in digital twins, security tests can be done remotely without risking negative impacts on live systems.

  • Prospective life cycle assessment of bio-based adipic acid production from forest residues
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Cleaner Production. - : Elsevier BV. - 0959-6526. ; 164, s. 434-443
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Abstract Environmental concerns related to the production of bulk chemicals are growing. Researchers and technology developers are currently looking into alternative production pathways for such chemicals by utilizing renewable resources, such as lignocellulosic feedstocks. Adipic acid is an example of such a bulk chemical, and its conventional fossil-based production emits significant amounts of N2O, a major greenhouse gas. In this study, a prospective life cycle assessment (LCA) of bio-based adipic acid production from forest residues at an early development stage, situated in Sweden, was conducted. Acid-catalyzed (using SO2) and alkaline (using NaBH4) pretreatment were employed and scenarios and sensitivity analyses were conducted. The potential environmental impacts of this technology under development were compared to those of conventional adipic acid production. The results show that bio-based adipic acid production has a lower impact on global warming, eutrophication and photochemical ozone creation compared to fossil-based production. In contrast, it has a higher impact on acidification. An increased efficiency of mitigating \{N2O\} emissions from the fossil-based production may alter this comparison. Producing bio-based adipic acid using the alkaline pretreatment has a higher environmental impact than producing it using acid-catalyzed pretreatment. Furthermore, if biomass is used to fulfil process energy demands, instead of fossil fuel, the environmental impact of the bio-based production decreases. It is therefore important to reduce the amount of NaBH4 used in the alkaline pretreatment or to lower the environmental impact of its production.

  • Hindered E4 decay of the 12(+) yrast trap in Fe-52
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters. Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693. ; 619:1-2, s. 88-94
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The gamma decay of the 12(+) yrast trap in Fe-52 has been measured for the first time. The two E4 gamma-branches to the 8(+) states are hindered with respect to other B(E4) reduced transition probabilities measured in the f(7/2) shell. The interpretation of the data is given in the full pf shell model framework, comparing the results obtained with different residual interactions. It is shown that measurements of hexadecapole transition probabilities constitute a powerful tool in discriminating the correct configuration of the involved wavefunctions.

  • Floquet dynamical phase transition and entanglement spectrum
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Physical Review A. - 2469-9926. ; 103:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We explore both pure and mixed state Floquet dynamical quantum phase transitions (FDQFTs) in the one-dimensional p-wave superconductor with a time-driven pairing phase. In the Fourier space the model is recast to the noninteracting quasispins subjected to a time-dependent effective magnetic field. We show that FDQFTs occur within a range of driving frequency without resorting to any quenches. Moreover, FDQFTs appear in the region where quasispins are in the resonance regime. In the resonance regime, the population completely cycles the population between the spin down and up states. Additionally, we study the conditions for the appearance of FDQFTs using the entanglement spectrum and purity entanglement measure. Our results imply that the entanglement spectrum can truly capture the resonance regime where FDQFTs occur. Particularly, the dynamical topological region results in the degeneracy of the entanglement spectrum. It is shown that the boundary of the driven frequency range, over which the system reveals FDQFTs, is signaled by the purity entanglement measure.

  • Floquet dynamical quantum phase transitions under synchronized periodic driving
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Physical Review B. - 2469-9950. ; 105:9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study a generic class of fermionic two-band models under synchronized periodic driving, i.e., with the different terms in a Hamiltonian subject to periodic drives with the same frequency and phase. With all modes initially in a maximally mixed state, the synchronized drive is found to produce nonperiodic patterns of dynamical quantum phase transitions, with their appearance determined by an interplay of the band structure and the frequency of the drive. A case study of the anisotropic XY chain in a transverse magnetic field, transcribed to an effective two-band model, shows that the modes come with quantized geometric phases, allowing for the construction of an effective dynamical order parameter. Numerical studies in the limit of a strong magnetic field reveal distinct signals of precursors of dynamical quantum phase transitions also when the initial state of the XY chain is perturbed slightly away from maximal mixing, suggesting that the transitions may be accessible experimentally. A blueprint for an experiment built around laser-trapped circular Rydberg atoms is proposed.

  • Implementation of optimized compressive crushing in full scale experiments
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Minerals Engineering. - : Elsevier BV. - 0892-6875. ; 43-44:Special Issue: SI, s. 135-147
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Commonly used at the coarser end of the comminution process, cone crushers often operate as the final crushing stage in the aggregate industry, or as the supplier of feed material for HPGRs or ball mills in the mining industry. As such, the performance of cone crushers undoubtedly affects the performance and efficiency of the overall process. The aim of this study is therefore to implement theoretical optimizations of compressive crushing for two different applications. Three different prototypes of crushing chambers have been manufactured based on the conceptual designs obtained from theoretical optimizations. Tested in full scale experiments, the results for these prototypes (designed for aggregate production and mining operation) were subsequently compared to the measured data for the corresponding reference crushing chambers. The performed analysis suggests that the performance of cone crushers can be improved in terms of product yield as well as reduction ratio.

  • Dynamic evaluation of the immune infiltrate and immune function genes as predictive markers for neoadjuvant chemotherapy in hormone receptor positive, HER2 negative breast cancer
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Oncoimmunology. - : Taylor & Francis. - 2162-4011 .- 2162-402X. ; 7:9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Gene expression (GE) signatures and Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TIL) enumeration are predictive for response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in HR- and in HER2+ breast cancer, but data are conflicting in HR+/HER2- disease. This study aimed to explore their predictive value in this subset, measured both at baseline and after short exposure to chemotherapy. Specifically, the PROMIX phase 2 trial enrolled patients with locally advanced HER2- BC to receive six cycles of epirubicin and docetaxel, plus bevacizumab during cycles 3-6. Patients underwent tumor biopsies at baseline and after cycle 2 for GE profiling and enumeration of TIL, FOXP3+ T-cells and CD163+ macrophages. An immune related gene module and the quantification of the immune infiltrate were analyzed for association with pathologic complete response (pCR), decrease in tumor size and disease-free survival (DFS). Of the 150 patients enrolled in PROMIX, 113 were HR+/HER2-. Baseline GE and immune cell enumeration data were available from 71 patients, while data after 2 cycles of chemotherapy were available from 41. At baseline, only GE was statistically significantly associated with higher pCR rates (OR 2.29, 95% CI 1.05 - 5.38, p = 0.037) and decrease in tumor size (r = 0.25, p = 0.047). In contrast, longitudinal data indicate that both GE (r = 0.54, p<0.001) and TIL abundance (p = 0.009) are stronger predictors for the reduction of tumor size, while low FOXP3+ was statistically significantly associated with an improved DFS (p = 0.027). In conclusion, GE analysis, TIL and FOXP3+ enumeration after short-term exposure to chemotherapy carry important predictive information in HR+/HER2- breast cancer at the neoadjuvant setting.

  • Search for heavy resonances decaying into a Z or W boson and a Higgs boson in final states with leptons and b-jets in 139 fb−1 of pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP). - : Springer Nature. - 1126-6708 .- 1029-8479. ; 2023:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This article presents a search for new resonances decaying into a Z or W boson and a 125 GeV Higgs boson h, and it targets the νν¯¯¯bb¯¯, ℓ+ℓ−bb¯, or ℓ±νbb¯ final states, where ℓ = e or μ, in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV. The data used correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 139 fb−1 collected by the ATLAS detector during Run 2 of the LHC at CERN. The search is conducted by examining the reconstructed invariant or transverse mass distributions of Zh or Wh candidates for evidence of a localised excess in the mass range from 220 GeV to 5 TeV. No significant excess is observed and 95% confidence-level upper limits between 1.3 pb and 0.3 fb are placed on the production cross section times branching fraction of neutral and charged spin-1 resonances and CP-odd scalar bosons. These limits are converted into constraints on the parameter space of the Heavy Vector Triplet model and the two-Higgs-doublet model.
