- The aim of this short article is to question the archaeological classification of the Neolithic archaeological cultures, and to raise questions about how to understand the fragmentary material culture in terms of social agency and cultural expression. e settlement of Jonstorp in southern Sweden as a case of the south Scandinavian Pitted Ware complex presents theoretical and methodological implications for the study of economic systems in emerging complex societies. We have problems understanding the time in question. The problems might be in the archaeological material and our classifications, in our methods and our ability to understand the past. However, the narrative of the Neolithization and the introduction of animal breeding and cereal production in southern Scandinavia describe a chaotic period with the construction of monuments and enclosures, technological innovations and colonizing the landscape. Does the material culture at the Pitted Ware sites reflect encounters between regional cultural identities? Can we talk about clashing cultural identities in altered regional economic systems in Scania, southern Scandinavia and in the rest of Europe? My contribution to the debate involves anthropological theories of economic systems, sociological theories of cultural representation, conflict and identity, and above all a critical perspective on archaeological classification.

The deontological ethical guidelines stabilize the archaeological establishment no matter what kind of work. The utilitarian dimensions within archaeological research and higher education open up for critical thinking.Twisting and turning,looking backwards and sideways bring new perspectives and new knowledge that challenge, and should naturally be integrated in education and research. Critical archaeology is stressed to be important for the utility of archaeology, today and in the future.

- Antologin Etiska perspektiv inom arkeologin innehåller fjorton kapitel där studenter och lärare i Lund reflekterar över ämnesetiska frågor. Boken är ett resultat av etikkurser som har getts inom arkeologiutbildningen. Dessa kurser har visat sig få stor betydelse både för de studenter som gick på kurserna och för de studenter som idag på andra sätt får etiska perspektiv inom sin utbildning. För lärarna har etikkurserna inspirerat att ställa svåra frågor om utbildning, forskningsverksamhet och förmedling. Med ett kritisk tänkande och en medvetenhet om att världen inte är enkelt sammansatt utan består av normer och värderingar förbereds studenterna för ett yrkesliv där deras egna slutsatser och handlingsutrymme kan ta plats.

- The aim of this article is to briefly explore how quartz-rich sandstone might have been perceived by TRB societies. Using the senses as a point of departure, it discusses how sandstone was selected for grinding stones and for dry walling in megaliths, emphasizing the significance of the visual as well as the mechanical properties of the material. The article also acknowledges the complexity of the way in which the material was perceived. The significance of sandstone was shaped by context, implying that a changing context altered its significance. Ultimately, this study is a call for taking materials seriously by exploring them in a more nuanced way. Analogies, for example, can be very useful – not as proof, but as a way of raising questions and scenting the diversity of the Neolithic.

- New roles for dogs and humansBased on the archaeological finds during the Neolithic we interpret the relationship between humans and their dogs to have significantly changed. People gained an increased understanding of the dog's different, unique properties. The dogs were stimulated by the work and collaboration, and probably developed mentally. Maybe, dogs specialized in different tasks?The dogs were adapted to the new activities that occurred during this time. Depending on the daily life and needs, we conclude thus that dogs collaborated in various ways with the people. Certainly, watching dogs were needed as well as good hunting dogs for different kinds of tracking down and hunting. Field mouses and mice were a constant threat to human storages of both the new, grown corn and gathered plants. The arable fields were fenced during this time and the domesticated animals were held outside. Having herding dogs to collect and keep the livestock assembled did the work for the pastoralists much easier. Hunting dogs were as necessary and important as before.
