  • A direct conversion quadrature transmitter with digital interface in 45 nm CMOS for high-speed 60 GHz communications
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Digest of Papers - IEEE Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium. Baltimore, 5-7 June 2011. - 1529-2517. - 9781424482931
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A compact 60 GHz direct conversion quadrature transmitter is designed and fabricated in 45 nm standard LP CMOS. The transmitter features an integrated power amplifier with continuous output level control and interfaces binary data signals with nominal peak-to-peak voltage swing of 300 mV. The highest measured modulation bandwidth is limited by the measurement setup to 4 GHz but is simulated to be as high as 10 GHz. In single sideband up-converting operation mode, the measured image suppression ratio is 22 dB with 36 dB of carrier suppression corresponding to approximately 8% EVM in the output signal constellation. The output RF frequency can be from 54 GHz to 66 GHz to accommodate several channels and the output power can be adjusted from -3 dBm to 10 dBm. The chip is operated from a 2 V supply and draws 180 mA current.

  • Oral fluoride retention in orthodontic patients with and without fixed appliances after using different fluoridated home–care products.
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Acta Odontologica Scandinavica. - 0001-6357. ; 68:4, s. 185-192
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective. To evaluate oral fluoride (F) retention after using fluoridated toothpastes, rinsing solutions and chewing sticks (Miswaks) in orthodontic patients with and without orthodontic appliances. Material and methods. Nine orthodontic patients, with a mean age of 16 years, were included in a randomized, cross-over, experimental study. Six different home-care F products, two NaF toothpastes (0.32% and 1.1%), two NaF mouthwash solutions (0.05% and 0.2%) and two NaF-impregnated Miswaks chewing sticks (0.05% and 0.5%), were used both during the orthodontic treatment and 1 week after debonding. Unstimulated whole saliva and approximal saliva were collected from two interdental sites, before and up to 60 min after using each product for 2 min. The retention of F was calculated as the area under the 60-min F-clearance curve (AUC). Results. In general, the F concentrations at the various sites were higher before than after debonding. Moreover, the products with a high F content (toothpaste, mouthwash and Miswaks) resulted in higher F retention than the corresponding products with a lower F content. In whole saliva, the highest AUC values were found in patients using 0.2% NaF mouthwash, followed by 1.1% NaF toothpaste (p <0.05). In approximal saliva, the retention values were highest after using 0.5% NaF-impregnated Miswaks in patients wearing orthodontic appliances (p <0.001). Conclusions. The insertion of fixed orthodontic appliances appears to favor oral F retention for all the tested home-care F products. In addition, products with a high F content increase oral F retention.

  • Contribution of TMC6 and TMC8 (EVER1 and EVER2) variants to cervical cancer susceptibility
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Cancer. - : Wiley. - 0020-7136 .- 1097-0215. ; 130:2, s. 349-355
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cervical cancer (CxCa) is caused by persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection; genetic predisposition is also suspected to play a role. Our study is a targeted candidate gene follow-up based on: (i) strong clinical evidence demonstrating that mutations in the TMC6 and TMC8 (EVER1 and EVER2) genes associate with the HPV-associated disease epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) and (ii) recent epidemiological data suggesting a genetic susceptibility conferred by polymorphisms in such genes for skin and CxCa. Clarifying the association of the TMC6/8 genes with risk of CxCa will help in understanding why some HPV-infected women develop persistent infection, cervical lesions and eventually cancer while others do not. Twenty-two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) harboring the TMC6/8 genes were genotyped in 2,989 cases with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade III or invasive CxCa and 2,281 controls from the Swedish population. Association was evaluated in logistic regression models. Two SNPs displayed association with cervical disease: rs2290907 [odds ratio (OR)(GGvsAA) = 0.6, 95% confidence interval (95% CI): 0.3-0.9, p = 0.02)] and rs16970849 (OR(AGvsGG) = 0.8, 95% CI: 0.66-0.98, p = 0.03). The present data support the involvement of the TMC6/8 region in CxCa susceptibility but further analyses are needed to replicate our findings, fully characterize the region and understand the function of the genetic variants involved.

  • Software Tools for the Digital Factory : An Evaluation and Discussion
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 6th CIRP-Sponsored International Conference on Digital Enterprise Technology. - Berlin : Springer Nature. ; , s. 803-812
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents an evaluation and discussion of the digital factory tools, based on various software applications. The aim is to map the software tools within the digital factory and evaluate them with regard to the digital factory theory. This work aims to compare research theory with the software tools that are available on the market and how they differ. It is important to know how the commercial state-of-the-art software tools differ from the research theory of the digital factory, for further research development. A test case has been carried out to realize a mini digital factory based on commercial software.

  • Dietary factors and in situ and invasive cervical cancer risk in the European prospective investigation into cancer and nutrition study.
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Cancer. - : Wiley-Blackwell. - 0020-7136 .- 1097-0215. ; 129:2, s. 449-459
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Some dietary factors could be involved as cofactors in cervical carcinogenesis, but evidence is inconclusive. There are no data about the effect of fruits and vegetables intake (F&V) on cervical cancer from cohort studies. We examined the association between the intake of F&V and selected nutrients and the incidence of carcinoma in situ (CIS) and invasive squamous cervical cancer (ISC) in a prospective study of 299,649 women, participating in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). A calibration study was used to control measurement errors in the dietary questionnaire. After a mean of 9 years of follow-up, 253 ISC and 817 CIS cases were diagnosed. In the calibrated model, we observed a statistically significant inverse association of ISC with a daily increase in intake of 100 g of total fruits (HR 0.83; 95% CI 0.72-0.98) and a statistically nonsignificant inverse association with a daily increase in intake of 100 g of total vegetables (HR 0.85: 95% CI 0.65-1.10). Statistically nonsignificant inverse associations were also observed for leafy vegetables, root vegetables, garlic and onions, citrus fruits, vitamin C, vitamin E and retinol for ISC. No association was found regarding beta-carotene, vitamin D and folic acid for ISC. None of the dietary factors examined was associated with CIS. Our study suggests a possible protective role of fruit intake and other dietary factors on ISC that need to be confirmed on a larger number of ISC cases.
