  • På väg mot kollektivt lärande – inom ramen för samverkan mellan skola och universitet
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Forskning och utveckling i förskola och skola (Fufos). - Piteå : Utbildningsförvaltningen, Piteå kommun. - 2004-3635. ; 3:1, s. 62-81

  • ”Do they pass the woman test?”: Navigating and negotiating the gendering of residential solar panels
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: NordiCHI '22: Nordic Human-Computer Interaction Conference, Aarhus, Denmark, October 8 - 12, 2022. - New York, USA : Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). - 9781450396998 ; , s. 1-12
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Residential solar panels are increasingly popular, yet women arelargely invisible as customers and users. This creates barriers forreaching gender equality and climate goals where increased renewable energy is key. We present results from a norm-criticalstudy drawing on 10 interviews with solar industry representativesand focus groups with 28 women, either owning solar panels or inthe process of buying. The study aims to critically analyze currentgender norms related to technology, market, and use, as well asto identify difficulties for women’s solar panel engagement. Thestudy shows how women at different touchpoints in the processof buying and having solar panels both navigate and negotiate anongoing gendering of this technology, despite the industry attemptsto present solar panels as gender neutral. While the study focuseson residential solar panels, the contribution is relevant for widerHCI, e.g. work related to smart home technologies.

  • Elevated Expression of the C-Type Lectin CD93 in the Glioblastoma Vasculature Regulates Cytoskeletal Rearrangements That Enhance Vessel Function and Reduce Host Survival
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Cancer Research. - 0008-5472 .- 1538-7445. ; 75:21, s. 4504-4516
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain tumor characterized by an abnormal blood vasculature that is hyperpermeable. Here, we report a novel role for CD93 in regulating angiogenesis in this setting by modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion of endothelial cells. Tissue microarray analysis demonstrated that vascular expression of CD93 was correlated with poor survival in a clinical cohort of patients with high-grade astrocytic glioma. Similarly, intracranial growth in the GL261 mouse model of glioma was delayed significantly in CD93(-/-) hosts, resulting in improved survival compared with wild-type mice. This effect was associated with increased vascular permeability and decreased vascular perfusion of tumors, indicating reduced vessel functionality in the absence of CD93. RNAi-mediated attenuation of CD93 in endothelial cells diminished VEGF-induced tube formation in a three-dimensional collagen gel. CD93 was required for efficient endothelial cell migration and proper cell polarization in vitro. Further, in endothelial cells where CD93 was attenuated, decreased cell spreading led to a severe reduction in cell adhesion, a lack of proper cell contacts, a loss of VE-cadherin, and aberrant actin stress fiber formation. Our results identify CD93 as a key regulator of glioma angiogenesis and vascular function, acting via cytoskeletal rearrangements required for cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion.

  • A multi-centre study of therapeutic efficacy and safety of platelet components treated with amotosalen and ultraviolet A pathogen inactivation stored for 6 or 7 d prior to transfusion
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: British Journal of Haematology. - : Wiley. - 0007-1048 .- 1365-2141. ; 153:3, s. 393-401
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Bacteria in platelet components (PC) may result in transfusion-related sepsis (TRS). Pathogen inactivation of PC with amotosalen (A-PC) can abrogate the risk of TRS and hence facilitate storage to 7 d. A randomized, controlled, double-blinded trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of A-PC stored for 6-7 d was conducted. Patients were randomized to receive one transfusion of conventional PC (C-PC) or A-PC stored for 6-7 d. The primary endpoint was the 1 h corrected count increment (CCI) with an acceptable inferiority of 30%. Secondary endpoints included 1- and 24-h count increment (CI), 24-h CCI, time to next PC transfusion, red blood cell (RBC) use, bleeding and adverse events. 101 and 100 patients received A-PC or C-PC respectively. The ratio of 1-h CCI (A-PC:C-PC) was 0 center dot 87 (95% confidence interval: 0 center dot 73, 1 center dot 03) demonstrating non-inferiority (P = 0 center dot 007), with respective mean 1-h CCIs of 8163 and 9383; mean 1-h CI was not significantly different. Post-transfusion bleeding and RBC use were not significantly different (P = 0 center dot 44, P = 0 center dot 82 respectively). Median time to the next PC transfusion after study PC was not significantly different between groups: (2 center dot 2 vs. 2 center dot 3 d, P = 0 center dot 72). Storage of A-PCs for 6-7 d had no impact on platelet efficacy.

  • Evaluation of a structured skills training group for adolescents with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder : a randomised controlled trial
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: European Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. - : Springer. - 1018-8827 .- 1435-165X. ; 31:7, s. 1-13
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adolescence is associated with behavioural, emotional and interpersonal problems, and non-pharmacological treatments targeting these difficulties have been requested. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and acceptance of an age-adapted structured skills training group (SSTG) for adolescents with ADHD. Adolescents (n = 184, ages 15-18 years) with a diagnosis of ADHD were randomly assigned to either the SSTG, which is based on dialectical behavioural therapy, or an active control group based on psychoeducation. Symptoms of ADHD, behavioural and emotional problems, functional impairment, and health-related outcomes were assessed with self-ratings and parental ratings two weeks before, two weeks after, and six months after treatment. All participants who completed the pre-treatment measurements (n = 164) were included in the main analyses, which were conducted using a linear mixed model. Our results demonstrated no significant group differences in favour of the SSTG for any of the study outcomes. A majority of the participants in both groups reported that they had increased their knowledge about ADHD, improved their ability to manage problems related to the diagnosis, and would recommend the treatment to others. We conclude that the SSTG seems to be acceptable for adolescents with ADHD in a clinical context. However, the treatment was not proved to be more effective or more acceptable than the psychoeducational control intervention.Trial registration: http://www.isrctn.com/ISRCTN17366720,11/05/2016, retrospectively registered.

  • Evaluation of a structured skills training group for adolescents with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) : study protocol of a randomised controlled trial
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: BMC Psychiatry. - London, UK : BioMed Central. - 1471-244X. ; 19:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has a negative impact on several domains of life. However, there is a shortage of evidence-based non-pharmacological treatments for adolescents with ADHD. Astructured skills training group (SSTG) based on dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) has been used in adult patientswith ADHD with some promising results, although the treatment has not yet been adapted or evaluated foradolescents with ADHD. This study protocol describes how this treatment was adapted for an adolescentpopulation and how the efficacy of the SSTG will be evaluated using a randomised controlled trial (RCT) design. Methods: A sample of 184 adolescents (15–18 years of age) with a diagnosis of ADHD has been recruited fromseven child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient units and randomised to either the SSTG or an active controlgroup based on psychoeducation. Measures are conducted weekly during the treatment, as well as 2 weeks beforetreatment and 2 weeks and 6 months after treatment. The primary outcome measures are ADHD symptoms, functionalimpairment, quality of life and mindfulness. Secondary outcome measures are symptoms of comorbid psychopathology, perceived stress and sleep problems. This article describes the design, methods and analysis plan for evaluating theefficacy of the SSTG.Discussion: The study will be the first RCT to examine the acceptability and efficacy of a SSTG based on DBT adapted foradolescents with ADHD. We believe that the study will extend the current knowledge base about psychologicaltreatment for adolescents with ADHD.

  • 'This is why I'm doing a lot of exercise' : A qualitative study of participant's experiences of the Sophia Step Study
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: International Diabetes Nursing. - : Informa UK Limited. - 2057-3316 .- 2057-3324.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction: Support for physical activity (PA) is central in diabetes care. The Sophia Step Study is a three-armed randomised controlled trial aiming to evaluate different levels of support for increased PA in prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes. With the purpose to reveal the programme components and the mediating factors from the participants’ perspective this paper aims to report a qualitative exploration of adhering participants’ experiences after two years’ study participation. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 participants (men, n = 11, women, n = 7, prediabetes, n = 5, Type 2 diabetes, n = 13, median age 68.5 years) who completed a two-year multi-component (n = 7), singlecomponent (n = 6) intervention or served as controls (n = 5) at a primary care center in Stockholm, Sweden. The interviews were analysed using content analysis with an inductive approach. Sophia Step Study is registered at ClinicalTrials.gov with Identifier: NCT02374788.Results: The participants recalled the frequent study assessments as providing feedback of health outcomes; positive reinforcement; a sense of sentinel and a personalised approach. Group meetings, pedometers and health check-ups were valued as resources for increased awareness and motivation of PA; establishment of new routines and control over the own health. The long program duration allowed for maintenance of awareness and routines for PAConclusion: Adhering participants in theory-based interventions, but also in the control group, identified key mediators to support for PA. Feedback of results, personalised encouragement, emotional support and selfmonitoring should be regarded in self-management of PA to optimise patient motivation and outcomes.
