  • Swedish soccer coaches' experiences and application of physical training in male elite soccer : A qualitative content analysis study
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Sport Studies Forum. - Malmö : Malmö University. - 2000-088X. ; 12, s. 159-181
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In elite soccer, training becomes more systematic and soccer clubs try to optimise their physiological training programs. Previous research has investigated many aspects of soccer, but research into the coaches’ own experiences and continuous improvement of physical training is lacking. The aim of this study was to describe the coaches’ experiences and their application of physical training in male elite soccer. The design of the study was explorative and based on a qualitative content analysis with an abductive approach based on a custom version of the four-step quality model—the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle. Fifteen elite soccer coaches in Sweden were interviewed. The result showed that physical training in male elite soccer is an ongoing continuously improvement process that contains four different categories: 1) planning, containing gained experiences, teamwork, and lack of resources; 2) executing with different training methods, weekly rotation, and individual training; 3) evaluating containing monitor training load and physiological testing, and 4) improving with search for knowledge and long-term development. The coaches try to absorb new knowledge and continuously improve their training methods, although lack of resources sometimes does not allow them to introduce new training methods.

  • Ba-Ni-Hexaaluminate as a New Catalyst in the Steam Reforming of 1-Methyl Naphthalene and Methane Long-Term Studies on Sulphur Deactivation and Coke Formation
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Catalysis Letters. - : Springer. - 1011-372X .- 1572-879X. ; 150, s. 1605-1617
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This work investigates the long-term performance of Ba-Ni-hexaaluminate, BaNixAl12-xO19 as a catalyst in reforming of 1-methyl naphthalene and/or methane in a model-gas simulating that from a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) gasifier during 23-29 h in a lab scale set-up, as well as the tendency for coke formation, sintering and sulphur poisoning. 1-Methyl naphthalene is used as a tar model substance. The Ba-Ni-hexaaluminate induces a high conversion of both compounds in the temperatures investigated (850 and 950 degrees C) under sulphur-free conditions. In sulphur-containing gas, the methane conversion stops at 20 ppm H2S and the reforming of 1-MNP at 850 degrees C is slightly reduced at 100 ppm.

  • Registered nurses' experiences of working in the intensive care unit during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Nursing in Critical Care. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 1362-1017 .- 1478-5153. ; 26:6, s. 467-475
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BackgroundDuring the pandemic, increased numbers of patients requiring intensive care unit (ICU) admission required an increase in ICU capacity, including ICU staffing with competence to care for critically ill patients. Consequently, nurses from acute care areas were called in to staff the ICU along with experienced intensive care nurses.Aims and objectivesTo describe Swedish registered nurses' experiences of caring for patients with COVID-19 in ICUs during the pandemic.DesignMixed method survey design.MethodsAn online questionnaire was distributed through social media to registered nurses who had been working in the ICU during the COVID-19 outbreak. Data were collected for 1 week (May 2020) and analysed using content analysis and descriptive statistics.ResultsOf the 282 nurses who participated, the majority were ICU nurses (n = 151; 54%). Half of the nurses specialized in ICU reported that they were responsible for the ICU care of three or more patients during the pandemic (n = 75; 50%). Among non-intensive care nurses, only 19% received introduction to the COVID-19 ICU (n = 26). The analysis of data regarding nurses' experiences resulted in three categories: tumbling into chaos, diminished nursing care, and transition into pandemic ICU care. Participants described how patient safety and care quality were compromised, and that nursing care was severely deprioritized during the pandemic. The situation of not being able to provide nursing care resulted in ethical stress. Furthermore, an increased workload and worsened work environment affected nurses' health and well-being.ConclusionsThe findings from the present study indicate that nurses perceived that patient safety and quality of care were compromised during the pandemic. This resulted in ethical stress among nurses, which may have affected their physical and psychosocial well-being.Relevance to clinical practiceThe COVID-19 pandemic had a severe impact on nurses' work environment, which could result in burnout and staff turnover.

  • The Potential of Intercropping for Multifunctional Crop Protection in Oilseed Rape (Brassica napus L.)
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Frontiers in Agronomy. - : Frontiers Media SA. - 2673-3218. ; 3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Oilseed rape (OSR; Brassica napus) is a globally important crop which is increasingly under pressure from pests, pathogens and weeds. We investigated the potential of achieving multifunctional crop protection benefits by intercropping oilseed rape with legumes. A field experiment was conducted in which winter oilseed rape was intercropped with the annual frost sensitive legumes berseem clover (Trifolium alexandrinum) or spring faba bean (Vicia faba), or with the winter grain legumes winter faba bean or winter peas (Pisum sativum). We tracked damage to winter oilseed rape by autumn and spring pests (slugs and insects), pathogens, weed biomass, as well as oilseed rape and intercrop yield in each treatment. Intercropping treatments resulted in pest damage that was equivalent or lower than in oilseed rape alone. Follow up field and lab assessments for the frost sensitive legume intercrops provided evidence for a reduction in autumn pest damage to OSR. Each legume intercrop had its own benefits and drawbacks in relation to pest, pathogen and weed suppression, suggesting that the plant species selected for intercropping with oilseed rape should be based on the pests, pathogens and weeds of greatest concern locally to achieve relevant multifunctional benefits. Our study provides a framework for further experiments in which the multifunctional effects of intercropping on pests, pathogens and weeds can be quantified.

  • Collaboration and coordination of health and care services for older people with dementia by multidisciplinary health and care providers: a scoping review protocol
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: BMJ Open. - : BMJ PUBLISHING GROUP. - 2044-6055. ; 12:12
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • IntroductionCollaboration and coordination of health and care services are key to catering for the diverse needs of a growing population of older people with dementia. When multidisciplinary health and care providers work together, they have the possibility to use resources in a fair, accurate and effective way and thereby do the right thing, at the right time, for the right individual. The aim of this scoping review is to map how different care-providing agencies collaborate and coordinate health and care services for older people with dementia. Methods and analysisA scoping review will be carried out following the proposed methodology by Joanna Briggs Institute and reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses-Scoping Review Extension guidelines. Systematic searches will be carried out in scientific databases. Studies published within the last 10 years will be included based on certain eligibility criteria. All included studies will be critically appraised using the Research Pyramid. Data from included studies will be charted and subjected to content analysis. Ethics and disseminationEthics approval is not required for scoping reviews. The dissemination of findings will be conducted through conference presentations and publication in international scientific journals.

  • Mapping Collaboration and Coordination of Health and Care Services for Older People with Dementia: A Scoping Review
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Health & Social Care in the Community. - : WILEY-HINDAWI. - 0966-0410 .- 1365-2524. ; 2023
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Responsibility for health and care services for people with dementia is often divided between various professionals, agencies, and authorities, causing a fragmentation of care and an unclear division of responsibility between different stakeholders. In relation to this, collaboration and coordination of health and care services are often described as vital for catering to diverse needs and to provide adequate support. The aim of this scoping review was to map how different health and care agencies collaborate and coordinate services for older people with dementia. Joanna Briggs Institute's proposed methodology for scoping reviews was used, and systematic searches were carried out in six databases. A total of 59 articles published within the last 10 years were included based on certain eligibility criteria. The Research Pyramid was used to critically appraise these articles, suggesting that available research is of moderate quality. The descriptive content analysis of the articles revealed eight categories describing the characteristics of collaboration and coordination for people with dementia, as presented in previous articles. These characteristics are described in terms of different barriers, the function of the care coordinator, assessment and planning to provide services, interprofessional collaboration, information sharing, knowledge needed to navigate a complex health and care system and understanding of dementia, and personalisation of care. Engaging care coordinators with diverse competencies to address both medical and social care needs is essential, especially since people with dementia experience multiple and complex needs. It is also important to explain and visualise available services and when these services are suitable for implementation. Knowledge about dementia is necessary to empower people with dementia in everyday life situations.

  • "It's ok that I feel like this" : a qualitative study of adolescents' and parents' experiences of facilitators, mechanisms of change and outcomes in a joint emotion regulation group skills training
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: BMC Psychiatry. - : BioMed Central (BMC). - 1471-244X. ; 23:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BackgroundEmotion regulation difficulties underlie several psychiatric conditions, and treatments that focus on improving emotion regulation can have an effect on a broad range of symptoms. However, participants' in-depth experiences of participating in emotion regulation treatments have not been much studied. In this qualitative study, we investigated participants' experiences of a joint emotion regulation group skills training in a child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient setting.MethodsTwenty-one participants (10 adolescents and 11 parents) were interviewed about their experiences after they had participated in a seven-session transdiagnostic emotion regulation skills training for adolescents and parents. The aim of the skills training was to decrease emotion regulation difficulties, increase emotional awareness, reduce psychiatric symptoms, and enhance quality of life. The skills training consisted of psychoeducation about emotions and skills for regulating emotions. The interviews were transcribed and analysed using reflexive thematic analysis.ResultsThe analysis resulted in three overarching themes: Parent - Child processes, Individual processes, and Group processes. The result showed that participants considered an improved parent-child relationship to be the main outcome. Increased knowledge, emotion regulation skills and behavioural change were conceptualised as both mechanisms of change and outcomes. The group format, and the fact that parents and adolescents participated together, were seen as facilitators. Furthermore, the participants experienced targeting emotions in skills training as meaningful and helpful.ConclusionThe results highlight the potential benefits of providing emotion regulation skills training for adolescents and parents together in a group format to improve the parent-child relationship and enable the opportunity to learn skills.

  • Perceived occupational balance in people with stroke
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Disability and Rehabilitation. - : Taylor & Francis. - 0963-8288 .- 1464-5165. ; 43:4, s. 553-558
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background The balance of activities in daily life can become disrupted after a stroke; however, previous research has mainly focused on the performance of daily activities. Therefore, it is important to understand the impact that stroke has on various aspects of balance in activities for working-age people.Purpose To describe how persons with stroke perceived their occupational balance and to explore whether occupational balance was associated with the severity of disability, fatigue and sociodemographic characteristics. Methods This cross-sectional study included 63 working-age persons with stroke. The Occupational Balance Questionnaire, Glasgow Outcome Scale and Fatigue Severity Scale were used and analyzed statistically. Results The majority of participants disagreed or strongly disagreed that they perceived occupational balance in most of the investigated aspects. Moreover, few significant associations were found between total summed occupational balance and injury and sociodemographic characteristics. Conclusion These results demonstrate the importance of considering occupational balance in the rehabilitation of persons with stroke to support their engagement in a variety of meaningful activities that contribute to health.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONRehabilitation need to support persons with stroke to monitor their entire patterns of activities and perceived balance to support wider engagement in meaningful activities and promote health.Balance between all kinds of activities in daily life besides work, needs to be considered in the later phase of rehabilitation in persons with stroke.A majority of the participants with stroke in this study disagreed that they had a satisfying level of occupational balance.Perceived balance between all activities in daily life can together with performance of activities add to the understanding of consequences after stroke.
