  • NTIRE 2022 Burst Super-Resolution Challenge
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: 2022 IEEE/CVF CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER VISION AND PATTERN RECOGNITION WORKSHOPS (CVPRW 2022). - : IEEE. - 9781665487399 - 9781665487405 ; , s. 1040-1060
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Burst super-resolution has received increased attention in recent years due to its applications in mobile photography. By merging information from multiple shifted images of a scene, burst super-resolution aims to recover details which otherwise cannot be obtained using a simple input image. This paper reviews the NTIRE 2022 challenge on burst super-resolution. In the challenge, the participants were tasked with generating a clean RGB image with 4x higher resolution, given a RAW noisy burst as input. That is, the methods need to perform joint denoising, demosaicking, and super-resolution. The challenge consisted of 2 tracks. Track 1 employed synthetic data, where pixel-accurate high-resolution ground truths are available. Track 2 on the other hand used real-world bursts captured from a handheld camera, along with approximately aligned reference images captured using a DSLR. 14 teams participated in the final testing phase. The top performing methods establish a new state-of-the-art on the burst super-resolution task.

  • Infrared Drying Characteristics and Quality Variations of Lily Bulbs Under Blanching Pretreatment
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications. - : ASME International. - 1948-5085 .- 1948-5093. ; 14:9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Infrared drying characteristics and quality variations (color change, hardness, contents of polyphenol and flavonoid) of lily bulbs under blanching pretreatment are investigated. Influences of parameters such as pretreatment temperature and time and infrared drying temperature are discussed. Effective moisture diffusivity coefficient, activation energy, and energy consumption were calculated. Results showed that drying time was reduced by 62.5%, 56.3%, and 61.5% at 90 °C compared to 60 °C when blanching time was 4, 5, and 6 min, respectively. A blanching time of 5 min and drying temperature of 70 °C were ideal for pretreatment and drying to maintain good color quality. Hardness value of lily bulb decreased as drying temperature and blanching time increased. Seventy to eighty degree celcius was ideal drying condition to maintain good hardness quality. Blanching time and drying temperature differently affected contents of flavonoids and polyphenols of lily bulbs. Basically, when blanching time was relatively long and drying temperature was relatively high, the content of polyphenols was high.

  • The first visual object tracking segmentation VOTS2023 challenge results
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: 2023 IEEE/CVF International conference on computer vision workshops (ICCVW). - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 9798350307443 - 9798350307450 ; , s. 1788-1810
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking Segmentation VOTS2023 challenge is the eleventh annual tracker benchmarking activity of the VOT initiative. This challenge is the first to merge short-term and long-term as well as single-target and multiple-target tracking with segmentation masks as the only target location specification. A new dataset was created; the ground truth has been withheld to prevent overfitting. New performance measures and evaluation protocols have been created along with a new toolkit and an evaluation server. Results of the presented 47 trackers indicate that modern tracking frameworks are well-suited to deal with convergence of short-term and long-term tracking and that multiple and single target tracking can be considered a single problem. A leaderboard, with participating trackers details, the source code, the datasets, and the evaluation kit are publicly available at the challenge website1

  • Revealing the Charge Storage Mechanism of Nickel Oxide Electrochromic Supercapacitors
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces. - : AMER CHEMICAL SOC. - 1944-8244 .- 1944-8252. ; 12:35, s. 39098-39107
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Nickel oxide (NiO) is considered one of the most promising positive anode materials for electrochromic supercapacitors. Nevertheless, a detailed mechanism of the electrochromic and energy storage process has yet to be unraveled. In this research, the charge storage mechanism of a NiO electrochromic electrode was investigated by combining the in-depth experimental and theoretical analyses. Experimentally, a kinetic analysis of the Li-ion behavior based on the cyclic voltammetry curves reveals the major contribution of surface capacitance versus total capacity, providing fast reaction kinetics and a highly reversible electrochromic performance. Theoretically, our model uncovers that Li ions prefer to adsorb at fcc sites on the NiO(1 1 1) surface, then diffuse horizontally over the plane, and finally migrate in the bulk. More significantly, the calculated theoretical surface capacity (106 mA h g(-1)) accounts for about 77.4% of the total experimental capacity (137 mA h g(-1)), indicating that the surface storage process dominates the whole charge storage, which is in accordance with the experimental results. This work provides a fundamental understanding of transition-metal oxides for application in electrochromic supercapacitors and can also promote the exploration of novel electrode materials for high-performance electrochromic supercapacitors.

  • Assessing hydrothermal changes in the upper Yellow River Basin amidst permafrost degradation
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: NPJ CLIMATE AND ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE. - 2397-3722. ; 7:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Since the 20th century, the temperature on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) has increased at a rate of 2-3 times that of global warming. Consequently, the soil temperature and active layer thickness have also increased, which have directly caused severe degradation of the frozen ground on the QTP. Using a hydrological model driven by climate and vegetation forcing, the spatial and temporal changes in the hydrothermal characteristics of the Upper Yellow River Basin (UYRB) from 1960 to 2019 were modeled and the mechanism of the changes was analyzed. During the past six decades, the soil temperature in the UYRB exhibited an increasing trend. The degradation of permafrost in the UYRB was accompanied by thickening of the active layer, a reduction of the maximum depth of the seasonal frost penetration, and continuous extension of the basin thawing time. This degradation was also associated with the increase in the soil moisture content and decrease in the soil ice content, resulting in degradation of the permafrost area by one-tenth of the total area in the UYRB. The reduction of the permafrost area and the thickening of the active layer can profoundly impact hydrological processes and ecosystems. These findings play a critical role in designing efficient strategies to manage and protect frozen ground and serve as a valuable reference for understanding the consequences of frozen ground degradation globally.

  • Coumarin derivative trigger controlled photo-healing of ion gels and photo-controlled reversible adhesiveness
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: European Polymer Journal. - : Elsevier. - 0014-3057 .- 1873-1945. ; 144
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Fabrication strategies for photo-responsive ion gels have attracted attention owing to their precise spatial and temporal control with predetermined responses to light stimuli. In this work, a reversible light-driven method was introduced to devise photo-responsive ion gels by harnessing coumarin-based building blocks under 365 nm irradiation. A series of random copolymers composed of N, N-dimethylacrylamide (DMA) and 7-(2′-methacryloyloxyethoxy)–4-methylcoumarin (MAOEMC), namely P(DMA-r-MAOEMC), were synthesized through reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization with sufficient molecular weight (≈100 kDa). The coumarin moieties in those polymers exhibited a reversible photo-induced dimerization and photocleavage behavior in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis (trifluoromethylsufonyl) imide ([C2mim][NTf2]). Those polymers - ionic liquid system at high polymer concentration (20 wt%) under suitable wavelength UV light irradiation led to sol–gel transition, which could be functionalized as photo-healable material and photo-controlled adhesion agents. Notably, the photo-controlled adhesiveness was reversible and can be mediated from 1.2 MPa to 0.2 MPa. This work opens new avenues to develop multifunctional ion gels using dynamic covalent bonds.

  • The combination of genomic offset and niche modelling provides insights into climate change-driven vulnerability
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Nature Communications. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2041-1723. ; 13:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Global warming is increasingly exacerbating biodiversity loss. Populations locally adapted to spatially heterogeneous environments may respond differentially to climate change, but this intraspecific variation has only recently been considered when modelling vulnerability under climate change. Here, we incorporate intraspecific variation in genomic offset and ecological niche modelling to estimate climate change-driven vulnerability in two bird species in the Sino-Himalayan Mountains. We found that the cold-tolerant populations show higher genomic offset but risk less challenge for niche suitability decline under future climate than the warm-tolerant populations. Based on a genome-niche index estimated by combining genomic offset and niche suitability change, we identified the populations with the least genome-niche interruption as potential donors for evolutionary rescue, i.e., the populations tolerant to climate change. We evaluated potential rescue routes via a landscape genetic analysis. Overall, we demonstrate that the integration of genomic offset, niche suitability modelling, and landscape connectivity can improve climate change-driven vulnerability assessments and facilitate effective conservation management.
