  • Proteomics Data Collection - 3rd ProDaC Workshop April 22nd 2008, Toledo, Spain
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Proteomics. - : Wiley. - 1615-9861 .- 1615-9853. ; 8:20, s. 4163-4167
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The "Coordination Action" ProDaC (Proteomics Data Collection) - funded by the EU within the 6(th) framework programme - was created to support the dissemination, utilization and publication of proteomics data. Within this international consortium, standards are developed and maintained to support extensive data collection by the proteomics community. An important part of ProDaC are workshops organized on a regular basis (two per year) to allow discussions and communication between the ProDaC partners and to report on the progress of the project. The kick-off meeting took place in October 2006 in Long Beach, CA, USA. The 1(st) ProDaC workshop was held in Lyon, France (April 2007) and the 2(nd) in Seoul, Korea in October 2007. ProDaC organized the 3(rd) ProDaC workshop at the Beatriz Hotel, Toledo, on 22(nd) April, 2008, directly before the HUPO - PSI spring meeting (Human Proteome Organisation - Proteomics Standards Initiative). The work package coordinators presented talks about the progress achieved during the past six months. Additionally four external speakers presented their work on data conversion and data repositories. The concluding discussion session was chaired by the journal's representative.

  • Proteomics data collection--4th ProDaC workshop 15 August 2008, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Proteomics. - : Wiley. - 1615-9861 .- 1615-9853. ; 9:2, s. 218-222
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • ProDaC (Proteomics Data Collection), a Coordination Action within the 6th EU framework programme, was created to support the collection, distribution and public availability of data from proteomics experiments. Within the consortium standards are created and maintained enabling an extensive data collection within the proteomics community. Important elements of ProDaC are workshops held twice a year to allow communication between the ProDaC partners and to report the ongoing progress. The most recent assembly was the 4th ProDaC workshop on August 15th, 2008, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It took place directly before the 7th HUPO Annual World Congress (Human Proteome Organisation). Work package coordinators and partners presented the progress achieved since the last meeting. Additionally, an EU official presented funding opportunities for proteomics in the next EU framework programme and five external speakers presented talks about their work in relation to ProDaC.

  • Proteomics Data Collection-5th ProDaC Workshop
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Proteomics. - : Wiley. - 1615-9861 .- 1615-9853. ; 9:14, s. 3626-3629
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Proteomics Data Collection (ProDaC) consortium, a "Coordination Action" funded by the 6th EU Framework Programme, started in October 2006. Its aim was to facilitate the collection and distribution of proteomics data and the public availability of data sets from proteomics experiments. Within the consortium standard formats are created and tools are developed to allow extensive data collection within the proteomics community. An important part of ProDaC is the organization of workshops twice a year to inform about the consortium's progress and to stimulate communication between the ProDaC partners and between partners and interested members of the proteomics community. ProDaC ends on March 31, 2009. The most recent (and final) workshop was the 5th ProDaC workshop held on March 4, 2009 in Kolympari, Crete, Greece. The progress since the last meeting and an overall summary was presented by the work package coordinators and partners. Four external speakers presented talks about their work in relation to ProDaC.

  • Open Peer Commentaries
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Constructivist Foundations. - : ALEXANDER RIEGLER. - 1782-348X. ; 3:2, s. 65-108
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Open peer commentary on the target article "Who Conceives of Society?" by Ernst von Glasersfeld. First paragraph: Ernst von Glasersfeld sets out to explain how familiar patterns (signs) arise in private experience - and how they are extracted or " recognized" as such. These patterns are recursive, which imposes significance (familiarity) on them, and are, in the course of time, collected into a " bulk of experience." I think a convinced constructivist can - if hesitantly - accept his rendering, even though it is one that lacks the stringency one expects from a supposedly natural scientist ( 46). However, the crucial point is that this paper does not address the convinced constructivist but rather the opposite camps, and I doubt he succeeds in convincing them.

  • Data analysis and reduction methodologies for wireless sensor networks : Sustainable Bridges Background document 5.8
  • 2007
  • Rapport (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This report describes procedures and algorithms for data analysis and reduction methodologies regarding vibration analysis and acoustic emission techniques (AET) utilized for a prototype bridge monitoring system which is based on wireless sensor network (WSN) technology. The network consists of a terminal or base station (data logging and configuration unit), representing the data sink in the network, and several tens of sensor nodes spread over a bridge and representing the data sources. Each sensor node is equipped with sensors, a microcontroller and a radio transceiver. All nodes together form a multi-hop communication network. The laboratory and field tests described demonstrate that this concept is feasible even on low power WSN platforms and that it is a key element for the successful application of wireless sensor networks in long term structural monitoring.

  • Programming industrial robots using advanced input-output devices: test-case example using a CAD package and a digital pen based on the Anoto technology
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Online Engineering. - 1861-2121. ; 3:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Interaction with robot systems for specification of manufacturing tasks and motions needs to be simple, to enable wide-spread use of robots in SMEs. In the best case, existing practices from manual work could be used, to smoothly let current employees start using robot technology as a natural part of their work. Our aim is to simplify the robot programming task by allowing the user to simply make technical drawings on a sheet of paper. Craftsman use paper and raw sketches for several situations; to share ideas, to get a better imagination or to remember the customer situation. Currently these sketches have either to be interpreted by the worker when producing the final product by hand, or transferred into CAD file using an according tool. The former means that no automation is included, the latter means extra work and much experience in using the CAD tool. Our approach is to use the digital pen and paper from Anoto as input devices for SME robotic tasks, thereby creating simpler and more user friendly alternatives for programming, parameterization and commanding actions. To this end, the basic technology has been investigated and fully working prototypes have been developed to explore the possibilities and limitation in the context of typical SME applications. Based on the encouraging experimental results, we believe that drawings on digital paper will, among other means of human-robot interaction, play an important role in manufacturing SMEs in the future.
