  • SICStus Prolog user's manual, version 2.1 #8
  • 1993. - 1
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This Manual corresponds to SICStus Prolog release 2.1. #8 Prolog is a simple but powerful programming language developed at the University of Marseilles (Prolog : Manuel de Reference et d'Utilisation by P.Roussel, Groupe d'Intelligence Artificielle, Marseille-Luminy, 1975), as a practical tool for programming in Logic (Logic for Problem Solving by R.A. Kowalski, DCL Memo 75, Dept. of Artificial Intelligence, University of Edinburgh, March, 1974.)) From a user's point of view the major attraction of the language is ease of programming. Clear, readable, concise programs can be written quickly with few errors. This manual describes a Prolog system developed at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science in collaboration with Ericsson Telecom AB, NobelTech Systems AB, Infologics AB and Televerket under the IT4 program. The system consists of a WAM emulator written in C, a library and runtime system written in C and Prolog and an interpreter and a compiler written in Prolog. The Prolog engine is a Warren Abstract Machine (WAM) emulator defined by D:H:D: Warren in An Abstract Prolog Instruction Set, Tech. Note 309, International, Menlo Park, CA, 1983. Two modes of compilation are available: in-core i.e. incremental, and file-to-file.

  • Seizure development and noradrenaline release in kindling epilepsy after noradrenergic reinnervation of the subcortically deafferented hippocampus by superior cervical ganglion or fetal locus coeruleus grafts
  • 1994
  • Ingår i: Experimental Neurology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0014-4886. ; 130:2, s. 351-361
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Solid pieces of fetal locus coeruleus (LC) or superior cervical ganglion (SCG) were placed into a fimbria-fornix lesion cavity in 6-hydroxydopamine-treated, noradrenaline (NA)-denervated rats. Six to 8 months later, all animals were subjected to electrical kindling stimulations in the hippocampus until they had reached the fully kindled state. Nongrafted lesioned animals showed markedly increased kindling rate which was partly attenuated by LC but not SCG grafts. In both LC- and SCG-grafted animals, dopamine beta-hydroxylase immunocytochemistry demonstrated a high density of graft-derived noradrenergic fibers in the dorsal hippocampus, whereas reinnervation of the ventral hippocampus was much more sparse. Subregional distribution of these fibers within the hippocampus was different in the two grafted groups. Both grafts partly restored basal extracellular NA levels in the hippocampus and reacted to generalized seizures by a significant (two- to threefold) increase of NA release, as measured by intracerebral microdialysis. Our data indicate (i) that seizure activity can regulate transmitter release from noradrenergic neurons in both LC and SCG grafts, (ii) that only fetal LC grafts retard seizure development in kindling, and (iii) that the inability of SCG implants to influence kindling epileptogenesis could be due to a lack of synaptic contacts between the graft-derived ganglionic fibers and host hippocampal neurons.

  • Subpopulations of variants resistant to imipenem in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • 1988
  • Ingår i: Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. - : Oxford University Press. - 0305-7453 .- 1460-2091. ; 22:5, s. 643-649
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Selection and regrowth of resistant variants, which were present in low frequencies in the initial inoculum, was seen when large inocula of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were incubated with imipenem. The selective growth of resistant variants resulted in an inoculum effect, and an increase in MIC with longer incubation. When large inocula taken from strains that had been classified as sensitive in conventional MIC determinations were incubated with 4, 8 and 16 mg/l imipenem, 62%, 24% and 10%, respectively, of the strains regrew. None of the resistant variants thereby selected showed cross resistance to other beta-lactam antibiotics or aminoglycosides. In vitro evaluation of regrowth of resistant variants may be justified when choosing imipenem for therapy in the treatment of serious P. aeruginosa infections.

  • Analysis of a Scheme for Iterated Identification and Control
  • 1994
  • Ingår i: IFAC Symposium on System Identification (SYSID'94), Copenhagen, Denmark, 4-6 July. - 1474-6670. ; 27:8, s. 473-478
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents analysis of a scheme for iterated identification and control design. The approach is based on least squares identification in closed loop and pole placement design. It has previously been shown that the criteria for control and identification are the same provided that the data filters are chosen properly. The iterated scheme may be viewed as a recursion in model parameters. Each step consists of system identification and control design. Interesting questions are then: What are the fix points? Are the fix points stable? These questions are investigated for some simple examples. Relations to other problems like model reduction and adaptive control are also discussed.

  • The possibility of influencing components of hospital delay time within emergency departments among patients with ST-elevation in the initial electrocardiogram.
  • 1998
  • Ingår i: European journal of emergency medicine : official journal of the European Society for Emergency Medicine. - : Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Ltd.. - 0969-9546 .- 1473-5695. ; 5:3, s. 289-96
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The aim of this study was to describe the possibility of influencing components of hospital delay time within the emergency department (ED) among patients with ST-elevation on the initial electrocardiogram (ECG). Nurses recorded seven patient time points: (1) ED admission; (2) ECG recording; (3) decision by nurse/ED physician; (4) cardiologist ED arrival; (5) decision of coronary care unit (CCU) admission; (6) ED departure; (7) CCU arrival. After special training in ECG, nurses in the ED were subsequently delegated to send patients directly to the CCU if showing ST-elevation on the admission ECG without contacting either the physician in ED or the cardiologist on call (intervention). Delay times between hospital admission and admission to the CCU were evaluated during the 9 months prior to and during the 6 months after the start of this intervention. Fifty patients (66% men) participated in the first study during 3 months (prior to intervention). Patients with suspected or confirmed acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in the ED had a median delay time from ED arrival to CCU arrival of 55.5 minutes (34.5 minutes for patients with confirmed AMI; ST elevation on admission). Time interval from decision to admit to CCU and ED departure was an average of 31% of the total delay. A mean of 21% of total delay occurred between ED decision to cardiologist arrival, and 19% during the time interval from cardiologist ED arrival until decision to CCU admission. Among patients receiving thrombolysis, the median delay time from hospital admission to CCU admission was reduced from 40 minutes during the 9 months prior to start of the intervention (nurses sending patients directly to the CCU) to 22 minutes during the 6 months thereafter (p = 0.02). The largest proportion of hospital delay components for acute coronary syndrome patients occurred between the cardiologist's decision to admit to the CCU and departure from the ED, and the interval following the decision by the nurse or physician to the cardiologist ED arrival. When nurses were delegated to transfer patients with ST-elevation on admission directly to the CCU without contacting a physician, the delay time from ED admission to CCU admission was reduced by nearly 50%.
