  • Structure determination of Pt3Ti(111) by automated tensor LEED
  • 1993
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics. - : IOP Publishing. - 0953-8984 .- 1361-648X. ; 5, s. 4585-4594
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An analysis of low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) I-V spectra from the clean Pt3Ti(111) surface was performed by comparing measured intensities with data calculated using an automated tensor LEED program, which employs a directed search optimization procedure. It was found that the topmost layer is pure Pt and that the other layers have the bulk composition. The first and second interlayer spacings are 2.23+or-0.03 AA and 2.21+or-0.03 AA respectively, corresponding to a contraction of 0.9% and 1.8% of the bulk value. The perpendicular buckling is 0.04 AA +or-0.05 AA in the top layer and 0.15 AA +or-0.04 AA in the second layer. The results are in full accordance with previous investigations of the physical and chemical properties of this surface.

  • The effects of epilepsy surgery on the sensorimotor function of children.
  • 1994
  • Ingår i: Developmental medicine and child neurology. - 0012-1622. ; 36:10, s. 893-901
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The motor and sensory functions of 50 children were investigated before and six months after epilepsy surgery; 34 infants were assessed 24 months after surgery. Postoperatively, 20 children were seizure-free and 22 had a significant reduction of seizures. Epilepsy surgery was found to be an effective mode of treatment for intractable seizures in childhood, even in multiply handicapped individuals. Motor and sensory functions did not deteriorate after surgery; in fact, significant improvements were found in more than half of the children, including those with multiple handicaps. Improvements were most obvious in the seizure-free group, but were also noted in those with reduced seizure frequency. The younger children benefited more from surgery as regards sensorimotor function than did older children and adolescents.

  • Control of catalase production and purity by altering certain nutritional factors of Alternaria alternata growth medium
  • 1991
  • Ingår i: Biotechnology letters. - 0141-5492 .- 1573-6776. ; 13:1, s. 35-38
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Both activity level of catalase and presence of glucose oxidase as an impurity were controlled by the type and concentration of nitrogen and carbon source in the culture medium of Alternaria alternata. It was possible to produce glucose oxidase-free catalase at activity levels competing favourably with those reported for other catalase hyperproducing microorganisms.

  • Evaluation of cerebrospinal fluid shunt function in hydrocephalic children using 99mTc-DTPA.
  • 1992
  • Ingår i: Child's nervous system : ChNS : official journal of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery. - 0256-7040. ; 8:2, s. 76-80
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The increasing numbers and survival of children with shunt-treated hydrocephalus make it mandatory to refine the methods for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt function evaluation. Radionuclide shuntography with 99mTc-DTPA, which has proved to be a safe and effective method, was performed in eight children with suspected CSF-shunt dysfunction. Characteristic shuntography patterns were found for proximal and distal CSF-shunt catheter obstruction as well as for overdrainage and normal CSF-shunt function. Shuntography contributed to the explanation of suspected CSF-shunt dysfunction in all children investigated.
