    • Many high-voltage line monitoring companies have been using drones to carry out preventive inspection. The inspection procedure usually makes use of pilots that control drones which films the transmission lines. Afterwards, the images need to be analyzed in order to detect problems. This work proposes the usage of drones that make autonomous flights to perform the inspection. The proposed approach exploits three drones to inspect each important part of a transmission line, with the first inspecting the wires, the second inspecting the towers and the third checking the safety area under the line. All three drones are controlled by an embedded system with artificial intelligence which is able to identify a potential problem and issue an alert to locations that might present issues. © 2022 ICAS.   • Magnesium fluoride as low-refractive index material for near-ultraviolet filters applied to optical sensors

    • This article describes the fabrication of MgF2 and MgO thin-film-based optical filters and compares the optical transmission of the filters over UV. The MgF2 thin-films were deposited by use of an e-beam technique and their optical properties were characterised by ellipsometry. The effect of substrate temperature on the optical properties was studied. The MgF2 optimum refractive indices were obtained with a substrate temperature between 200 °C and 300 °C. Optical simulations were performed to compare the performance of MgF2 and MgO in the fabrication of near-UV narrow bandpass optical filters. While MgO-based optical filters result in a higher transmittance peak intensity, especially at 350 nm, the MgF2 optical filters are narrower, present lower values of FWHM, a mean value of 20 nm. This feature could be especially relevant for specific applications on fluorescent optical sensors. Finally, a Fabry-Perot based on a MgF2/TiO2 optical filter was deposited, using an e-beam technique for the MgF2 thin-films and RF-sputtering technique for the TiO2 thin-films. The MgF2/TiO2 optical filter peak transmittance is approximately 70% close to 400 nm, as expected. The results are discussed with focus on applications in fluorescent optical sensors for peaks at 350, 370, 380 and 400 nm, respectively.

    • O objetivo deste trabalho é revisar sistematicamente a literatura sobre a integração interfuncional no contexto de PDP. Realizou-se uma revisão sistemática da literatura para identificar e analisar as principais vertentes de pesquisa. Obteve-se uma amostra final de 87 artigos que foram considerados nesta revisão. A análise de conteúdo dos artigos permitiu identificar e caracterizar três categorias principais: Vertentes de pesquisa; Fatores de integração e fases do PDP. Além disso, também foram analisados dados descritivos relacionados a principais revistas, país da pesquisa de campo e ano. Foram desenvolvidas três proposições e indicam a necessidade de integração interfuncional para eficiência NPD em três situações: alto fluxo de projetos dentro do PDP, alto envolvimento da empresa com inovação e alta complexidade do PDP. Por fim, uma agenda de pesquisa foi desenvolvida com base na articulação entre a teoria existente e as análises bibliométricas.

  • One-of-a-Kind Production (OKP) Planning and Control: a comprehensive review and future research directions

    • PurposeThe aim of this paper is to identify some specificities of production planning and control (PPC) activities in the one-of-a-kind-production (OKP) process through an extensive literature review. Relevant aspects related to systems and PPC activities in the context of OKP environment are discussed, and six opportunities for future research are highlighted.Design/methodology/approachThe following research is based on a review of 53 articles published in peer-reviewed journals over the past three decades. After an initial descriptive analysis based on bibliometric indicators, a cluster analysis of 15 most cited articles was carried out using multivariate data analysis techniques and in-depth analysis.FindingsThe results reveal some specificities inherent to the clusters featured in the research, including aspects of planning, control and systems for OKP process. This cluster addresses information regarding next-generation manufacturing systems, scheduling and design science, computer simulation and project approach. On the other hand, the authors point out six topics for future research regarding contemporary issues associated with PPC in the context of OKP.Originality/valueThis paper fills an important gap regarding OKP production planning and control practices. The results provide a theoretical overview of different PPC practices suitable for the OKP environment. Furthermore, it can provide insights for scientific developments in order to manage the complexity inherent in the OKP process.
