  • Measurements of (XcJ)-> K+K-K+K- decays
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 642:3, s. 197-202
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using 14M psi(2S) events taken with the BESII detector, chi(cJ) -> 2(K+K-) decays are studied. For the four-kaon final state, the branching fractions are B(chi(c0,1,2) ->.2(K+K-)) = (3.48 +/- 0.23 +/- 0.47) x 10(-3), (0.70 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.10) x 10(-3), and (2.17 +/- 0.20 +/- 0.31) x 10(-3). For the phi K+K- final state, the branching fractions, which are measured for the first time, are B(chi(c0,1,2) -> phi K+K-) = (1.03 +/- 0.22 +/- 0.15) x 10(-3), (0.46 +/- 0.16 +/- 0.06) x 10(-3), and (1.67 +/- 0.26 +/- 0.24) x 10(-4). For the phi phi final state, B(chi(c0,2) -> phi phi) = (0.94 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.13) x 10(-3) and (1.70 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.25) x 10(-3).

  • The Genome Sequence of Taurine Cattle : A Window to Ruminant Biology and Evolution
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Science. - : American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). - 0036-8075 .- 1095-9203. ; 324:5926, s. 522-528
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To understand the biology and evolution of ruminants, the cattle genome was sequenced to about sevenfold coverage. The cattle genome contains a minimum of 22,000 genes, with a core set of 14,345 orthologs shared among seven mammalian species of which 1217 are absent or undetected in noneutherian (marsupial or monotreme) genomes. Cattle-specific evolutionary breakpoint regions in chromosomes have a higher density of segmental duplications, enrichment of repetitive elements, and species-specific variations in genes associated with lactation and immune responsiveness. Genes involved in metabolism are generally highly conserved, although five metabolic genes are deleted or extensively diverged from their human orthologs. The cattle genome sequence thus provides a resource for understanding mammalian evolution and accelerating livestock genetic improvement for milk and meat production.

  • Crystalline silicon nanomembrane stacking for large-area flexible photodetectors
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: IEEE International Conference on Group IV Photonics GFP. ; , s. 110-112
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Flexible photodetectors were demonstrated experimentally on large-area crystalline silicon nanomembranes (3 mm×3 mm), based on wet transfer and metal-frame supported transfer processes. Very low dark current (a few nA) and linear photoresponses were demonstrated for both Si MSM and InP PIN photodiodes on flexible PET substrates.

  • Meta-analysis of genome-wide association data and large-scale replication identifies additional susceptibility loci for type 2 diabetes
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1546-1718 .- 1061-4036. ; 40:5, s. 638-645
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Genome-wide association (GWA) studies have identified multiple loci at which common variants modestly but reproducibly influence risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D)(1-11). Established associations to common and rare variants explain only a small proportion of the heritability of T2D. As previously published analyses had limited power to identify variants with modest effects, we carried out meta-analysis of three T2D GWA scans comprising 10,128 individuals of European descent and similar to 2.2 million SNPs (directly genotyped and imputed), followed by replication testing in an independent sample with an effective sample size of up to 53,975. We detected at least six previously unknown loci with robust evidence for association, including the JAZF1 (P=5.0 x 10(-14)), CDC123-CAMK1D (P=1.2 x 10(-10)), TSPAN8-LGR5 (P=1.1 x 10(-9)), THADA (P=1.1 x 10(-9)), ADAMTS9 (P=1.2 x 10(-8)) and NOTCH2 (P=4.1 x 10(-8)) gene regions. Our results illustrate the value of large discovery and follow-up samples for gaining further insights into the inherited basis of T2D.

  • Metabolomics relative quantitation with mass spectrometry using chemical derivatization and isotope labeling
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: SPECTROSCOPY-AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL. - : Hindawi Limited. - 0712-4813. ; 22:5, s. 327-343
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Comprehensive detection and quantitation of metabolites from a biological source constitute the major challenges of current metabolomics research. Two chemical derivatization methodologies, butylation and amination, were applied to human serum for ionization enhancement of a broad spectrum of metabolite classes, including steroids and amino acids. LC-ESI-MS analysis of the derivatized serum samples provided a significant signal elevation across the total ion chromatogram to over a 100-fold increase in ionization efficiency. It was also demonstrated that derivatization combined with isotopically labeled reagents facilitated the relative quantitation of derivatized metabolites from individual as well as pooled samples.

  • Sulfide film formation on copper under electrochemical and natural corrosion conditions
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Corrosion. - 0010-9312 .- 1938-159X. ; 63:2, s. 135-144
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The mechanism and kinetics of Cu corrosion in anoxic aque-ous chloride solutions containing sulfide (10–3 mol/L) havebeen investigated electrochemically and under natural corro-sion conditions. Under these conditions Cu is thermodynami-cally unstable in anoxic water, and the anodic growth of achalcocite (Cu2S)/digenite (Cu1.8S) film is supported by thecathodic reduction of water. Electrochemical experiments atrotating disc electrodes and impedance spectroscopy showthat the film growth occurs under SH– transport control asstagnant conditions are approached. At this concentration,film growth can follow two distinct pathways. The initiallyformed film grows rapidly via an ion (or associated defect)transport process. If this film remains coherent, subsequentfilm growth/corrosion is extremely slow. If the developmentof interfacial stresses leads to film fracture, then growthcontinues and a much thicker nodular deposit is formed. Theprimary goal of this research is to develop a mixed potentialmodel, which can be used to assess the performance ofcopper nuclear waste containers in granitic nuclear wasterepositories.

  • Robust decoy-state quantum key distribution with heralded single photon source
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: 2008 Conference On Lasers And Electro-Optics & Quantum Electronics And Laser Science Conference. - 9781557528599 ; , s. 3589-3590
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We have experimentally demonstrated a decoy-state quantum key distribution scheme (QKD) with a heralded single-photon source based on parametric down-conversion. What we used is a one-way BB84 protocol with a four-state and one-detector phase-coding scheme.
