  • Electrical measurements of a multi-mode hybrid pixel detector ASIC for radiation detection
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Journal of Instrumentation. - 1748-0221. ; 7:1, s. Art. no. C01056-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present the first electrical measurements of an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) to be used in a hybrid pixel detector intended for dosimetry and radiation detection. The dosimeter has three programmable modes of operation: photon counting mode, energy integration mode, and dosimetry mode. The ASIC comprises a matrix of 16 by 16 (256 total) square pixels of 220 ÎŒm pitch, providing 12.4 mm 2 of segmented active area. Each pixel can be configured to operate in one of the three radiation measurement modes, with programmable-depth counters and shift registers to tailor the data word size and optimise the readout frame-rate in a given mode. The individual energies of impinging photons are determined through programmable analogue energy threshold discrimination, time over threshold measurement, or a combination thereof. Furthermore, the dosimetry mode contains 16 digital energy thresholds and automatically sorts data into 16 corresponding energy bin registers. The chip's output is therefore pre-processed charge spectra of the radiation field. This paper discusses results from measurements taken using programmable test-pulses to inject controlled stimuli into the pixel circuits.

  • Model-based toolchain for the efficient development of safety-relevant automotive embedded systems
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: SAE technical paper series. - 400 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, PA, United States : SAE International. - 0148-7191.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Advanced functionalities unthinkable a few decades ago are now being introduced into automotive vehicles through embedded systems for reasons like emission control, vehicle connectivity, safety and cooperative behaviors. As the development often involves stakeholders from different engineering disciplines and organizations, the complexity due to shared requirements, interdependencies of data, functions, and resources, as well as tight constraints in regards to timing, safety, and resource efficiency makes the system integration, quality control and assurance, reuse and change management increasingly more difficult. This calls for a more rigorous approach to the development of automotive embedded systems and components. This paper describes the CESAR reference technology platform (RTP) that supports the formalization of various engineering concerns in the development of safety-relevant embedded systems and thereby a model-based integration of various tools and methods to form seamless environments or toolchains for the development of such systems.

  • Spin and Dipole Ordering in Ni2InSbO6 and Ni2ScSbO6 with Corundum-Related Structure
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Chemistry of Materials. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0897-4756 .- 1520-5002. ; 25:6, s. 935-945
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The complex metal oxides Ni2InSbO6 (NISO) and Ni2ScSbO6 (NSSO) have been prepared in the form of polycrystalline powders by a solid state reaction route. The crystal structure and magnetic properties of the compounds were investigated using a combination of X-ray and neutron powder diffraction, electron microscopy, calorimetric, and magnetic measurements. The compounds adopt a trigonal structure, space group R3, of the corundum related Ni3TeO6 (NTO) type. Only one of the octahedral Ni positions (Ni(2)) of the NTO structure was found to be occupied by In (Sc). NTO has noncentrosymmetric structure and is ferroelectric below 1000 K; dielectric and second harmonic measurements suggest that also NISO and NSSO are correspondingly ferroelectric. Magnetization measurements signified antiferromagnetic ordering below T-N = 60 K (NSSO) and 76 K (NISO). The magnetic structure is formed by two antiferromagnetically coupled incommensurate helices with the spiral axis along the b-axis and propagation vector k = [0, k(y),0] with k(y) = 0.036(1) (NSSO) and k(y) = 0.029(1) (NISO). The observed structural and magnetic properties of NISO and NSSO are discussed and compared with those of NTO.

  • Temperature-dependent multi-k magnetic structure in multiferroic Co3TeO6
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Materials research bulletin. - : Elsevier BV. - 0025-5408 .- 1873-4227. ; 47:1, s. 63-72
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A complex magnetic order of the multiferroic compound Co(3)TeO(6) has been revealed by neutron powder diffraction studies on ceramics and crushed single crystals. The compound adopts a monoclinic structure (s.g. C2/c) in the studied temperature range 2-300 K but exhibits successive antiferromagnetic transitions at low temperature. Incommensurate antiferromagnetic order with the propagation vector k(1) = (0, 0.485, 0.055) sets in at 26 K. A transition to a second antiferromagnetic structure with k(2) = (0, 0, 0) takes place at 21.1 K. Moreover, a transition to a commensurate antiferromagnetic structure with k(3) = (0, 0.5, 0.25) occurs at 17.4 K. The magnetic structures have been determined by neutron powder diffraction using group theory analysis as a preliminary tool. Different coordinations of the Co(2+) ions involved in the low-symmetry C2/c structure of Co(3)TeO(6) render the exchange-interaction network very complex by itself. The observed magnetic phase transformations are interpreted as an evidence of competing magnetic interactions. The temperature dependent changes in the magnetic structure, derived from refinements of high-resolution neutron data, are discussed and possible mechanisms connected with the spin reorientations are described.

  • Hard x-ray nanofocusing with refractive x-ray optics : full beam characterization by ptychographic imaging
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of SPIE. - : SPIE. - 9780819496980 ; , s. 884807-
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Hard x-ray scanning microscopy relies on small and intensive nanobeams. Refractive x-ray lenses are well suited to generate hard x-ray beams with lateral dimensions of 100 nm and below. The diffraction limited beam size of refractive x-ray lenses mainly depends on the focal length and the attenuation inside the lens material. The numerical aperture of refractive lenses scales with the inverse square root of the focal length until it reaches the critical angle of total reflection. We have used nanofocusing refractive x-ray lenses made of silicon to focus hard x-rays at 8 and 20 keV to (sub-)100 nm dimensions. Using ptychographic scanning coherent diffraction imaging we have characterized these nanobeams with high accuracy and sensitivity, measuring the full complex wave field in the focus. This gives access to the full caustic and aberrations of the x-ray optics.
