  • Parental views and the key role of nurses for high vaccine acceptance in Sweden – a focus group study
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: BMC Public Health. - 1471-2458. ; 23:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: In Sweden, vaccine uptake is exceptionally high due to an efficient child immunization program. More than 97% of Swedish children were vaccinated at child health care centers (CHCs) according to the schedule at 2 years of age in 2021. From the age of 6 years, vaccinations are given within the school health care. Maintaining high vaccination coverage over time is one of the central motives to explore and understand drivers for vaccine acceptance. The current study aimed to assess parental vaccine acceptance concerning the national immunization program and explore factors contributing to the high vaccine acceptance in Sweden. Methods: Parents of children aged 1–2 years and 8–12 years were recruited through purposive sampling and asked to participate in focus groups held in three cities in Sweden, in February and March 2019. In total, 47 parents participated in two focus groups per city, one session for parents of younger (1–2 years) and older (8–12 years) children respectively. The focus group discussions were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: Parents of children aged 1–2 years expressed the themes; strong compliance to and protection of the value of vaccinations; parents feel safe with an attentive relationship with their nurse; the spectrum of communication needs is essential to meet. For parents to children aged 8–12 years, the themes expressed were; vaccinate to do good for the individual and society; a foundation of trust is built at CHCs for decisions later on; decisions for vaccination become more complex as children get older; communication changes as children get older and need to be explicit and tailored to the situation. Conclusion: Both individual and societal perspectives were shown to influence the vaccination decision for childhood immunizations, as manifested in parental reflections and experiences. As nurses have a key role, it is important to provide them with continued support and tools to facilitate their support for parents in making informed decisions. Continuous work for supporting driving factors for vaccination over time is needed to maintain high vaccine acceptance in Sweden.

  • Ganymede’s tenuous atmosphere
  • 2024. - 1
  • Ingår i: Ganymede. - Cambridge, UK : Cambridge University Press.
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ganymede possesses a tenuous water-based atmosphere, thought to be produced by the solar and Jovian plasma irradiation of its icy surface. Observational evidence for Ganymede's atmosphere is provided by far-ultraviolet (FUV) emission from the atomic oxygen (O) and hydrogen (H) constituents. The relative strengths of the two observed FUV atomic oxygen emission multiplets, which are produced by electron-impact on the atmosphere, allow inference of molecular O2 and H2O components and their relative abundances. Minor species besides O and H have not been detected and the observational constraints can be considered loose overall, partly due to the inherent ambiguity and difficulty in relating the electron-excited emissions to atmospheric properties. Much of our understanding of the configuration of Ganymede’s atmosphere is based on modelling efforts. The modelling studies suggest that O2 is produced primarily through radiolysis and sputtering by the plasma precipitation in the icy polar regions. Since it does not condense, O2 is yet abundant everywhere and likely the dominant species over most of the surface. Ice sublimation increases the abundance of H2O near the sub-solar point, locally exceeding the O2 abundance. The high altitudes, in contrast, are expected to be primarily populated by the lighter H2 molecules everywhere. Inferred column densities for the primary molecules, O2 and H2O, are on the order of 1014 cm-2 to 1015 cm-2. In addition, models suggest that the atmosphere is collisional only up to a few tens of kilometers above the surface, particular in the dense sub-solar region.

  • Effect of Solvent Vapor Annealing on Diblock Copolymer-Templated Mesoporous Si/Ge/C Thin Films : Implications for Li-Ion Batteries
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: ACS Applied Nano Materials. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 2574-0970. ; 5:5, s. 7278-7287
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Although amphiphilic diblock copolymer templating of inorganic materials such as TiO2 is already well investigated, sol-gel synthesis routines for porous silicon and germanium are relatively rare. Therefore, especially in the field of Li-ion batteries, novel synthesis routines with the possibility to tune the silicon and germanium ratio and the morphology in the nanometer regime are of high interest. Here, we demonstrate a synthesis method that allows a change of morphology and elemental composition with minimal effort. We evidence a morphological transformation in the nanometer regime with real space (scanning electron microscopy) and complementary reciprocal space analysis methods (grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering). Although energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) reveals a considerable amount of oxygen in the thin film, crystalline Ge in the bulk is detected with powder Xray diffraction (PXRD) and Raman spectroscopy. Due to the system's simplicity, chemical mass production options such as roll-to-roll or slot-die printing can also be considered high-yield methods compared to standard synthesis routines.
