- Knowledge management is today an established approach to improve and renew organizations. The right use of information systems are often essential element in a successful KM strategy, however creating the right mix of KM activities and system is difficult and failures are frequent. Getting a good grip of the current situation and the special condition of the organization is therefore essential. In this paper we study an initiating questionnaire, taken from the KM literature, with a background in US management consulting industry. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the questionnaire, from a Swedish perspective. This is done with the aim to search for more general advice for anyone wanting to adapt and use such a questionnaire in their own situation. For this purpose, a number of applications of the questionnaire is presented and investigated. The outcome of the study is an initial assessment of the usefulness of the questionnaire and some recommendations for further use and research into the questionnaire. The usefulness seems to depend on the situation of persons that the questionnaire is given to. The analysis shows that the questionnaire seems to fit rather well to companies that were included in the study, especially on a management level. However, some possible problem areas were also discovered, the background, motivation and work situation of some personnel group could interfere with the effectiveness of the questionnaire.

- The growth rate of R&D activities in automotive industry brings an increased need for transfer of design knowledge. This, in combination with growing complexity of the product puts new demands on the decision process. In this paper, decision methods used within the R&D department of an international vehicle manufacturer has been investigated through interviews and surveys. The main focus has been to identify and analyze methods used by the individual roles within different development teams. The survey reveals that a majority of the respondents use unstructured methods for resolving decision issues. When respondents were asked about their preferences there was an expressed need for more structured methods.

- Novel hexahydroimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines prepared by the addition of ethyl (1-benzylimidazolidin-2-ylidene)acetate (2) to the fungal metabolite podoscyphic acid (1a) and esters of 1a have been evaluated for their ability to inhibit the inducible TNF-α promoter activity in T cells. The methyl ester 3b is the most potent, inhibiting the TNF-α driven reporter gene expression in Jurkat T cells with an IC50-value of 2.0 μg/ml (3.6 μM). In addition, compound 3b inhibited the inducible TNF-α production in the myelomonocytic U937 cells with an IC50-value of 4.6 μM.

Study on ALD In2S3/Cu(In,Ga)Se2 interface formation

- The formation of the interface between In2S3 grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) and co-evaporated Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) has been studied by X-ray and UV photoelectron spectroscopy. The valence band offset at 160°C ALD substrate temperature was determined as −1·2±0·2 eV for CIGS deposited on soda-lime glass substrates and −1·4±0·2 eV when a Na barrier substrate was used. Wavelength dependent complex refractive index of In2S3 grown directly on glass was determined from inversion of reflectance and transmittance spectra. From these data, an indirect optical bandgap of 2·08±0·05 eV was deduced, independent of film thickness, of substrate temperature and of Na content. CIGS solar cells with ALD In2S3 buffer layers were fabricated. Highest device efficiency of 12·1% was obtained at a substrate temperature of 120°C. Using the bandgap obtained for In2S3 on glass and a 1·15±0·05 eV bandgap determined for the bulk of the CIGS absorber, the conduction band offset at the buffer interface was estimated as −0·25±0·2 eV (−0·45±0·2 eV) for Na-containing (Na-free) CIGS.
