  • Are we in this together?  Exploring private-collective knowledge communities
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: ICIS 2011 PROCEEDINGS. - 9780615559070
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A growing trend within the literature on value creation is the introduction of private-collective knowledge communities, which create opportunities for organizations to leverage knowledge. In these communities, participants privately invest in a project’s success by freely revealing and contributing their personal resources such as expertise and time to a public good. Firms then use these public goods as the basis for their own product offering. In this paper, we focus on describing the nature of the relationships that exist within private-collective knowledge communities and subsequently develop a framework for how researchers and practitioners can understand the organization-user dynamics found within these communities. As such, our research questions are as follows: What factors impact the organization-user dynamics in private-collective knowledge communities and how do these factors affect the nature of the relationships within these communities? We conclude with initial results supporting our model and discuss future steps, limitations, and contributions.

  • Nya former av entreprenörskap–exempel från internet
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Socialmedicinsk Tidskrift. - 0037-833X. ; 90:2, s. 261-267
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract

  • A design research approach to developing user innovation workshops in Second Life
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Journal of Virtual Worlds Research. - : Virtual Worlds Institute, Inc.. - 1941-8477. ; 3:1, s. 3-36
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Design Science Research approach is increasingly being applied in the field of Information Systems (IS) research. The philosophy behind design science research is that new scientific knowledge can be generated by means of constructing an artifact, and the core of this approach is a problem-solving process used to develop the artifact. As virtual worlds are a relatively new IS medium, limited attention has been paid to investigating the use of design research in virtual worlds. Nevertheless, it is considered a relevant approach as much research in the field of virtual worlds involves the design of virtual spaces to support some kind of business activity. As such, the research purpose of this paper is to investigate the use of the design research approach in virtual worlds. In this paper, we describe and take a practical perspective of a specific case study in which design research was developed and used for a specific project. The specific project in focus is the development of a user innovation workshop inside Second Life for a start-up company interested in gaining insights and ideas for the development of its product.

  • Crowdfunding among IT Entrepreneurs in Sweden
  • 2013
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Executive Summary Background. This report is the result of a study commissioned in 2013  by. SE-The Swedish Internet Infrastructure Foundation around how entrepreneurs, and in  particular IT entrepreneurs, have responded to the increased availability of crowdfunding in  Sweden. Much of the focus in international and regional studies has been on making  crowdfunding attractive for potential funders, assuming that it is inherently attractive to would- be entrepreneurs.

  • Crowdfunding in Action: How Institutional Logics Encourage and Constrain Affordance Perception
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Academy of Management Proceedings. - : Academy of Management. - 0065-0668 .- 2151-6561.
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • A number of crowdfunding platforms have emerged in recent years, reaching 800 in 2012. However, these platforms have arisen in different countries and contexts, subject to different institutional norms and logics. The perceived affordances of crowdfunding are affected by these differing contexts and these institutional norms and logics may act as constraints on affordance perception. This paper examines one such case, the case of reward-based crowdfunding in Sweden, where the prevailing norms and logics shaped ICT entrepreneurs perceptions of crowdfunding, constraining their perception of crowdfunding as providing either a viable form of funding, or of publicity.

  • Solving the puzzle of crowdfunding : Solving the puzzle of crowdfunding
  • 2014
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Crowdfunding has been embraced by entrepreneurs across the globe as an alternative to traditional sources of funding. However, it is not clear that ICT entrepreneurs in Sweden have embraced it as warmly, despite the potential benefits it offers. This paper explores this empirical puzzle in light of two complementary theoretical literatures: institutional entrepreneurship and technology affordances. It first examines existing institutional logics around startup investment before turning to the features of crowdfunding and whether ICT entrepreneurs perceive these as affordances. We discuss the tension among these affordances, institutional logics, and the crowdfunding platform providers' attempts as an institutional entrepreneur to become "taken for granted" as a legitimate part of the Swedish start-up institutional field. © 2014 IEEE.
