  • Privacy of Value-Added Context-Aware Service Cloud
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Lecture notes in computer science Volume 5931. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer. - 9783642106644 ; , s. 547-552
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In the cloud computing era, service provider cloud and context service cloud store all your personal context data. This is a positive aspect for value-added context-aware service cloud as it makes that context information collection are easier than was the case previously. However, this computing environment does add a series of threats in relation to privacy protection. Whoever receives the context information is able to deduce the status of the owners and, generally owners are not happy to share this information. In this paper, we propose a privacy preserved framework which can be utilized by value-added context-aware service cloud. Context data and related services access privileges are determined by context-aware role-based access control (CRAC) extended from role-based access control (RAC). Privacy preserved context service protocol (PPCS) is designed to protect user privacy from exposed context information. Additionally, user network and information diffusion is combined to evaluate the privacy protection effect.

  • The genome of the model beetle and pest Tribolium castaneum.
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Nature. - 1476-4687. ; 452:7190, s. 949-55
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Tribolium castaneum is a representative of earth’s most numerous eukaryotic order, a powerful model organism for the study of generalized insect development, and also an important pest of stored agricultural products. We describe its genome sequence here. This omnivorous beetle has evolved an ability to interact with a diverse chemical environment as evidenced by large expansions in odorant and gustatory receptors, as well as p450 and other detoxification enzymes. Developmental patterns in Tribolium are more representative of other arthropods than those found in Drosophila, a fact represented in gene content and function. For one, Tribolium has retained more ancestral genes involved in cell-cell communication than Drosophila, and some are expressed in the growth zone crucial for axial elongation in short germ development. Systemic RNAi in T. castaneum appears to use mechanisms distinct from those found in C. elegans, but nevertheless offers similar power for the elucidation of gene function and identification of targets for selective insect control.

  • A tri-continuous mesoporous material IBN-9 with the silica pore wall following a hexagonal minimal surface
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Nature Chemistry. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1755-4349 .- 1755-4330. ; 1, s. 123-127
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ordered porous materials with unique pore structures and pore sizes in the mesoporous range (2–50 nm) have many applications in catalysis, separation and drug delivery. Extensive research has resulted in mesoporous materials with onedimensional, cage-like and bi-continuous pore structures. Three families of bi-continuous mesoporous materials have been made, with two interwoven but unconnected channels, corresponding to the liquid crystal phases used as templates. Here we report a three-dimensional hexagonal mesoporous silica, IBN-9, with a tri-continuous pore structure that is synthesized using a specially designed cationic surfactant template. IBN-9 consists of three identical continuous interpenetrating channels, which are separated by a silica wall that follows a hexagonal minimal surface. Such a tri-continuous mesostructure was predicted mathematically, but until now has not been observed in real materials. Keywords: mesoporous structure, electron microscopy, self-assembly

  • The genome of the sea urchin Strongylocentrotus purpuratus.
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Science. - : American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). - 1095-9203 .- 0036-8075. ; 314:5801, s. 941-52
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report the sequence and analysis of the 814-megabase genome of the sea urchin Strongylocentrotus purpuratus, a model for developmental and systems biology. The sequencing strategy combined whole-genome shotgun and bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) sequences. This use of BAC clones, aided by a pooling strategy, overcame difficulties associated with high heterozygosity of the genome. The genome encodes about 23,300 genes, including many previously thought to be vertebrate innovations or known only outside the deuterostomes. This echinoderm genome provides an evolutionary outgroup for the chordates and yields insights into the evolution of deuterostomes.

  • Impulsive perturbation and bifurcation of solutions for a model of chemostat with variable yield
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Applied mathematics and mechanics. - : Springer Netherlands. - 0253-4827 .- 1573-2754. ; 30:7, s. 933-944
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, we consider a variable yield model of a single-species growth in a well-stirred tank containing fresh medium, assuming the instances of time as triggering factors in which the nutrient refilling process and the removal of microorganisms by the uptake of lethal external antibiotic are initiated. It is also assumed that the periodic nutrient refilling and the periodic antibiotic injection occur with the same periodicity, but not simultaneously. The model is then formulated in terms of autonomous differential equations subject to impulsive perturbations. It is observed that either the population of microorganisms essentially washes out, or more favorably, the system is permanent. To describe this dichotomy, some biologically significant integral conditions are introduced. Further, it is shown that in a certain critical situation, a nontrivial periodic solution emerges via a bifurcation phenomenon. Finally, the dynamics of the model is illustrated with numerical experiments and computer simulations.
