  • Chemoprophylaxis, diagnosis, treatments, and discharge management of COVID-19 : An evidence-based clinical practice guideline (updated version)
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Military Medical Research. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2054-9369. ; 7:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the cause of a rapidly spreading illness, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), affecting more than seventeen million people around the world. Diagnosis and treatment guidelines for clinicians caring for patients are needed. In the early stage, we have issued "A rapid advice guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infected pneumonia (standard version)"; now there are many direct evidences emerged and may change some of previous recommendations and it is ripe for develop an evidence-based guideline. We formed a working group of clinical experts and methodologists. The steering group members proposed 29 questions that are relevant to the management of COVID-19 covering the following areas: chemoprophylaxis, diagnosis, treatments, and discharge management. We searched the literature for direct evidence on the management of COVID-19, and assessed its certainty generated recommendations using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Recommendations were either strong or weak, or in the form of ungraded consensus-based statement. Finally, we issued 34 statements. Among them, 6 were strong recommendations for, 14 were weak recommendations for, 3 were weak recommendations against and 11 were ungraded consensus-based statement. They covered topics of chemoprophylaxis (including agents and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) agents), diagnosis (including clinical manifestations, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), respiratory tract specimens, IgM and IgG antibody tests, chest computed tomography, chest x-ray, and CT features of asymptomatic infections), treatments (including lopinavir-ritonavir, umifenovir, favipiravir, interferon, remdesivir, combination of antiviral drugs, hydroxychloroquine/chloroquine, interleukin-6 inhibitors, interleukin-1 inhibitors, glucocorticoid, qingfei paidu decoction, lianhua qingwen granules/capsules, convalescent plasma, lung transplantation, invasive or noninvasive ventilation, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)), and discharge management (including discharge criteria and management plan in patients whose RT-PCR retesting shows SARS-CoV-2 positive after discharge). We also created two figures of these recommendations for the implementation purpose. We hope these recommendations can help support healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients.

  • Polymer synergy for efficient hole transport in solar cells and photodetectors
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Energy & Environmental Science. - : ROYAL SOC CHEMISTRY. - 1754-5692 .- 1754-5706.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Hole transport materials (HTMs) have greatly advanced the progress of solution-based electronic devices in the past few years. Nevertheless, most devices employing dopant-free organic HTMs can only deliver inferior performance. In this work, we introduced a novel "polymer synergy" strategy to develop versatile dopant-free polymer HTMs for quantum dot/perovskite solar cells and photodetectors. With this synergy strategy, the optical, electrical and aggregation properties of polymer HTMs can be modulated, resulting in complementary absorption, high hole mobility, favorable energy landscape and moderate aggregation. Moreover, a clear orientational transition was observed for the developed HTMs with a 9-fold increase in the face-on/edge-on ratio, providing a highway-like carrier transport for electronic devices, as revealed by in situ characterization and ultrafast transient absorption. With these benefits, the photovoltaic and photodetection performance of quantum dot devices were boosted from 11.8% to 13.5% and from 2.95 x 10(12) to 3.41 x 10(13) Jones (over a 10-fold increase), respectively. Furthermore, the developed polymer HTMs can also significantly enhance the photovoltaic and photodetection performance of perovskite devices from 15.1% to 22.7% and from 2.7 x 10(12) to 2.17 x 10(13)Jones with the same device structure, indicating their great application potential in the emerging optoelectronics.

  • Technology Roadmap for Flexible Sensors
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: ACS Nano. - : American Chemical Society. - 1936-0851 .- 1936-086X. ; 17:6, s. 5211-5295
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Humans rely increasingly on sensors to address grand challenges and to improve quality of life in the era of digitalization and big data. For ubiquitous sensing, flexible sensors are developed to overcome the limitations of conventional rigid counterparts. Despite rapid advancement in bench-side research over the last decade, the market adoption of flexible sensors remains limited. To ease and to expedite their deployment, here, we identify bottlenecks hindering the maturation of flexible sensors and propose promising solutions. We first analyze challenges in achieving satisfactory sensing performance for real-world applications and then summarize issues in compatible sensor-biology interfaces, followed by brief discussions on powering and connecting sensor networks. Issues en route to commercialization and for sustainable growth of the sector are also analyzed, highlighting environmental concerns and emphasizing nontechnical issues such as business, regulatory, and ethical considerations. Additionally, we look at future intelligent flexible sensors. In proposing a comprehensive roadmap, we hope to steer research efforts towards common goals and to guide coordinated development strategies from disparate communities. Through such collaborative efforts, scientific breakthroughs can be made sooner and capitalized for the betterment of humanity.

  • Study on the growth and wear behavior of the TiAlN-based composite coating deposited on TiCN-based cermets with different binder phase
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Wear. - : ELSEVIER SCIENCE SA. - 0043-1648 .- 1873-2577. ; 460
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The TiAlN-based composite coating was coated on TiCN-based cermets with different binder phase by arc ion plating. The effects of binder phase within cermets substrates on the microstructure, mechanical properties and wear behavior of the composite coating were investigated. The results show that the growth of the composite coating is affected by binder phase in the cermets substrates. With a higher content of Co binder in the cermets, the composite coating grows faster. Ni as a binder phase in the cermets is more favorable for the growth rate of the surface coating. The grain size of the coating on 10%Co-TiCN-based cermets is the finest and the hardness is the highest. The variation of binder phase in the cermets substrates leads to different adhesion strength of the composite coating. The adhesion strength of the composite coating on the 10%Co-TiCN-based cermets is the highest, which is because of the smallest differences in hardness and thermal expansion coefficient for this coating/substrate couple. The wear behavior of composite coating on 10%Co-TiCN-based substrate is dominated by abrasive wear while that on the other cermets with Ni binder or higher content of Co binder is a mixture form of diffusion wear, oxidation wear and abrasive wear.

  • Effect of TiC addition and Co binder content in cemented carbide substrates on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the TiAlN-based composite films
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Vacuum. - : PERGAMON-ELSEVIER SCIENCE LTD. - 0042-207X .- 1879-2715. ; 182
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The development of cutting technologies promotes the diversification of cutting tool materials. To better guide the design and preparation of the surface films on different tools, it is necessary to explore the relationship between substrate materials and films properties. The TiAlN-(TiAlN/CrAlSiN)-TiAlN composite films were coated on cemented carbide substrates with different content of Co binder and TiC addition by arc ion plating. The results showed that Co binder in the cemented carbide reduced the surface energies of substrates, and the film on the cemented carbide substrate with higher Co content grew slower. (Ti,W)C phase formed in the cemented carbide substrate since WC dissolved in TiC, which was favorable for the growth of film. (Ti,W)C phase in the cemented carbide substrate improved the bonding strength of the composite film, but it reduced the hardness of the film. High Co binder content in cemented carbide substrate was disadvantageous to both the adhesion and hardness of the film. The composite films deposited on the WC-6wt%Co and WC -15 wt%TiC-6wt% Co achieved the maximum hardness and best bonding strength, respectively. The wear mechanism of the composite films on all different cemented carbide substrates was the mixture form of abrasive wear, oxidative wear, diffusion and adhesive wear.

  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Tactile sensors are among the most important devices used in industrial and biomedical fields. Sensors' profiles are significantly affected by their structures and material used. This article presents a robust, low-cost, low noise, accurate and simple fabrication capacitive tactile sensor as a single taxel fabricated on foam. This highly scalable design provides excellent noise immunity, accuracy, and due to a unique printable elastic conductor, it is flexible and stretchable with more than 200% strain. Furthermore, the taxel is based on the capacitive Wheatstone bridge. As a result, noise immunity and stability in case of temperature fluctuation is accomplished. Additionally, the sensor's innovative, simple fabrication, made of Polyurethane foam and printable elastic conductor, allows the system to adapt and achieve relevant results necessary for the purpose of the sensor's application. Therefore, the proposed sensor has potential applications in industrial and biomedical contexts, such as sleep monitoring, etc.

  • Expression profile, molecular functions, and prognostic significance of miRNAs in primary colorectal cancer stem cells
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Aging. - : Impact Journals LLC. - 1945-4589. ; 13:8, s. 12067-12085
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known to drive the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC) via the regulation of cancer stem cells (CSCs). We studied the miRNA expression profile of primary CSCs isolated from patients with CRC (pCRCSCs). Compared to pCRCSC-derived differentiated cells, 98 differentially expressed miRNAs were identified in pCRCSCs. Target genes encoding pCRCSC-related miRNAs were identified using a combination of miRNA target databases and miRNA-mRNA regulatory networks from the same patient. The pCRCSC-related miRNA target genes were associated with pathways contributing to malignant phenotypes, including I-kappa B kinase/NF-kappa B signaling, signal transduction by p53 class mediator, Ras signaling, and cGMP-PKG signaling. The pCRCSC-related miRNA expression signature was independently associated with poor overall survival in both the training and validation cohorts. We have thus identified several pCRCSC-related miRNAs with oncogenic potential that could serve as prognostic biomarkers for CRC.

  • The Association Between Branched-Chain Amino Acid Concentrations and the Risk of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Preschool-Aged Children
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: MOLECULAR NEUROBIOLOGY. - 0893-7648 .- 1559-1182.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Several studies have linked branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism disorders with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), but the results have been inconsistent. The purpose of this study was to explore the association between BCAA concentrations and the risk of ASD. A total of 313 participants were recruited from two tertiary referral hospitals from May 2018 to July 2021. Concentrations of BCAAs in dried blood spots were analyzed using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry-based analysis. Multivariate analyses and restricted cubic spline models were used to identify the association between BCAAs and the risk of ASD, and a nomogram was developed by using multivariate logistic regression and the risk was determined by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and calibration curve analysis. Concentrations of total BCAA, valine, and leucine/isoleucine were higher in the ASD group, and all of them were positively and non-linearly associated with the risk of ASD even after adjusting for potential confounding factors such as age, gender, body mass index, and concentrations of BCAAs (P < 0.05). The nomogram integrating total BCAA and valine showed a good discriminant AUC value of 0.756 (95% CI 0.676-0.835). The model could yield net benefits across a reasonable range of risk thresholds. In the stratified analysis, the diagnostic ability of the model was more pronounced in children older than 3 years. We provide evidence that increased levels of BCAAs are associated with the risk of ASD, and the nomogram model of BCAAs presented here can serve as a marker for the early diagnosis of ASD.

  • Landscape genomics predicts climate change-related genetic offset for the widespread Platycladus orientalis (Cupressaceae)
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Evolutionary Applications. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 1752-4571. ; 13:4, s. 665-676
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Understanding and quantifying populations' adaptive genetic variation and their response to climate change are critical to reforestation's seed source selection, forest management decisions, and gene conservation. Landscape genomics combined with geographic and environmental information provide an opportunity to interrogate forest populations' genome-wide variation for understanding the extent to which evolutionary forces shape past and contemporary populations' genetic structure, and identify those populations that may be most at risk under future climate change. Here, we used genotyping by sequencing to generate over 11,000 high-quality variants from Platycladus orientalis range-wide collection to evaluate its diversity and to predict genetic offset under future climate scenarios. Platycladus orientalis is a widespread conifer in China with significant ecological, timber, and medicinal values. We found population structure and evidences of isolation by environment, indicative of adaptation to local conditions. Gradient forest modeling identified temperature-related variables as the most important environmental factors influencing genetic variation and predicted areas with higher risk under future climate change. This study provides an important reference for forest resource management and conservation for P. orientalis.

  • Numerical Investigation of the Stimulated Growth of Single-Crystal Fibers by Point-Effect-Induced Fluid Dynamics
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Crystal Growth & Design. - : AMER CHEMICAL SOC. - 1528-7483 .- 1528-7505. ; 22:12, s. 7031-7039
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using molecular dynamics analysis and a two-component diffusion model that accounts for the time-dependent crystal surface chemical reaction, we show by extensive numerical simulations that the recently observed prismatic facet growth suppression in single-crystal fibers is the combined action of self-shielding by crystal surface selectivity and self-channeling arising from a point effect due to fibers small diameters and large aspect ratios. We further show that the self-channeling leads to a pyramidal-face-aiming solute flow, resulting in accelerated single-crystal fiber growth. This mesoscopic stimulated matter growth acceleration theory can satisfactorily explain all experimental results reported to date. This new crystal fiber growth technology opens a realm of application possibilities for single-crystal fiber architectures in chip-size photonics.
