  • Computational Fluid Dynamics for Effects of Coolants on On-chip Cooling Capability with Carbon Nanotube Micro-fin Architectures
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Microsystem Technologies. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0946-7076 .- 1432-1858. ; 15:3, s. 375-381
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have shown a broad promising application in high mechanical strength and electronic structure. In this work, the effects of coolants on heat transfer capability of on-chip cooling with CNTs Micro-fin Architectures was studied, and the two-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations have been done for a series of material parameters of coolants in this paper. The influences of thermal conductivity, density, specific heat and viscosity on cooling have been obtained in the case studies. The results demonstrate that pressure drop between the inlet and outlet of the cooling device is dependent on coolant's density and viscosity. Consequently, it will be necessary to find out a good balance between heat transfer capability and pressure drop. The simulation results also indicate that the heat sink capability will be better if there are more fin rows in the microchannel.

  • Formation of Kv2.1-FAK complex as a mechanism of FAK activation, cell polarization and enhanced motility
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Journal of Cellular Physiology. - : Wiley. - 0021-9541 .- 1097-4652. ; 217:2, s. 544-557
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) plays key roles in cell adhesion and migration. We now report that the delayed rectifier Kv2.1 potassium channel, through its LD-like motif in N-terminus, may interact with FAK and enhance phosphorylation of FAK(397) and FAK(576/577) Overlapping distribution of Kv2.1 and FAK was observed on soma and proximal dendrites of cortical neurons. FAK expression promotes a polarized membrane distribution of the Kv2.1 channel. In Kv2.1-transfected CHO cells, formation of the Kv2.1-FAK complex was stimulated by fibronectin/integrin and inhibited by the K channel blocker tetraethylammonium (TEA). FAK phosphorylation was minimized by shRNA knockdown of the Kv2.1 channel, point mutations of the N-terminus, and TEA, respectively. Cell migration morphology was altered by Kv2.1 knockdown or TEA, hindering cell migration activity. In wound healing tests in vitro and a traumatic injury animal model, Kv2.1 expression and co-localization of Kv2.1 and FAK significantly enhanced directional cell migration and wound closure. It is suggested that the Kv2.1 channel may function as a promoting signal for FAK activation and cell motility.

  • Constructive stabilization for quadratic input nonlinear systems
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Automatica. - : Elsevier BV. - 0005-1098 .- 1873-2836. ; 44:8, s. 1996-2005
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper stabilization of nonlinear systems with quadratic multi-input is considered. With the help of control Lyapunov function (CLF), a constructive parameterization of controls that globally asymptotically stabilize the system is proposed. Two different cases are considered. Firstly, under certain regularity assumptions. the feasible control set is parameterized, and Continuous feedback stabilizing controls are designed. Then for the general case. piecewise Continuous stabilizing controls are proposed. The design procedure can also be used to verify whether a candidate CLF is indeed a CLF. Several illustrative examples are presented as well.

  • CONSTRUCTIVE STABILIZATION OF QUADRATIC-INPUT NONLINEAR SYSTEMS WITH BOUNDED CONTROLS
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Journal of dynamical and control systems. - : Springer. - 1079-2724 .- 1573-8698. ; 14:4, s. 571-593
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, the stabilization of quadratic-input nonlinear systems with bounded controls is considered. According to the type of quadratic-input forms, two cases, namely, positive definite and positive semi-definite, are considered. For the case of positive definiteness, a universal formula for bounded stabilizers is given via a known Lyapunov control function. For the case of positive semidefiniteness, a constructive parametrization of bounded stabilizers is proposed under the assumption that there exists a known Lyapunov control function with respect to a smaller control set than the admissible control set.

  • New results on non-regular linearization of non-linear systems
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Control. - : Informa UK Limited. - 0020-7179 .- 1366-5820. ; 80:10, s. 1651-1664
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents some new results on non-regular linearization of non-linear systems. Based on a normal form and a non-regular linearization technique developed recently, the paper first provides a set of calculating formulas for the linearization procedure. As an application, the linearization of bilinear systems is investigated. Then, it presents easily veri. able sufficient conditions for the global (semi-global) (approximate) linearization. Finally, an estimate of the region of attraction for the kth degree approximately linearized systems with state feedback control is given, which illustrates one of the advantages of the approximate linearization.
