  • Graph-Based Knowledge Representation and Algorithms for Air and Maintenance Operations
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: ICAS Proceedings 33rd Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences, Stockholm, Sweden. - : International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences. - 9781713871163
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This work presents an approach for information exchange between adjacent air operations domains by means of graph technologies. The approach has the ability to leverage interoperability and collaboration between air- and ground-based systems and stakeholders in respective domains. In its foundation, it provides a means for relevant actors to access and assess relevant data, information and knowledge, and thus provide input in terms of viable action alternatives in a complex and dynamic operational context. As a proof-of-concept, we have utilizeda full-stack application framework to implement a decision support demonstrator for operational aircraft maintenance. Our solution facilitates a lightweight and dynamic representation of relevant domain knowledge, readily available for exploitation by graph algorithms, adapted to our domain. We have based our implementation on the full-stack application framework Grand-Stack, which is an architecture designed to exploit the power of graphs throughout its stack.

  • Constraining the thermally pulsing asymptotic giant branch phase with resolved stellar populations in the Large Magellanic Cloud
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Monthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 0035-8711 .- 1365-2966. ; 498:3, s. 3283-3301
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Reliable models of the thermally pulsing asymptotic giant branch (TP-AGB) phase are of critical importance across astrophysics, including our interpretation of the spectral energy distribution of galaxies, cosmic dust production, and enrichment of the interstellar medium. With the aim of improving sets of stellar isochrones that include a detailed description of the TP-AGB phase, we extend our recent calibration of the AGB population in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) to the more metal-rich Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). We model the LMC stellar populations with the TRILEGAL code, using the spatially resolved star formation history derived from the VISTA survey. We characterize the efficiency of the third dredge-up by matching the star counts and the K-s-band luminosity functions of the AGB stars identified in the LMC. In line with previous findings, we confirm that, compared to the SMC, the third dredge-up in AGB stars of the LMC is somewhat less efficient, as a consequence of the higher metallicity. The predicted range of initial mass of C-rich stars is between M-i approximate to 1.7 and 3 M-circle dot at Z(i) = 0.008. We show how the inclusion of new opacity data in the carbon star spectra will improve the performance of our models. We discuss the predicted lifetimes, integrated luminosities, and mass-loss rate distributions of the calibrated models. The results of our calibration are included in updated stellar isochrones publicly available.

  • Patient experiences of an intensive care Liaison Nurse support service
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Intensive and Critical Care Nursing. - : Elsevier BV. - 0964-3397. ; 71
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives: To illuminate patients' experiences of being a part of an liaison nurse support service focused on supporting recently transferred intensive care unit patients. Research methodology/design: A qualitative inductive descriptive design including in-depth interviews was chosen. Setting: A project including an liaison nurse support service-intervention was undertaken during a 16-week period at a University hospital in Sweden. The liaison nurse support service was available Monday-Friday 10 am - 6 pm and nurses visited the patient 1-4 times after transfer to the ward. Main outcome measures: Of the 109 patients who were visited by the liaison nurse support service, 14 agreed to be interviewed about their experiences of the transfer. Data was analysed by inductive content analysis. Findings: One overall theme, An advocate in a vulnerable situation emerged from the data. Four subthemes were identified: Ensures transfer of information between the intensive care unit and the general ward, Makes the circumstances understandable and coordinates between the care levels and Offers emotional support and stability in an uncertain situation. Conclusion: The liaison nurse support service contributed to ensuring accurate transfer of information, solved problems when the patient themselves did not have control or strength and provided emotional support.
