  • A fuzzy three-dimensional house of quality to integrate and coordinate departments’ activities in organizations
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: IEEE Access. - : IEEE. - 2169-3536.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study aims to introduce a method to integrate and coordinate departments’ activities to enhance the service quality of organizations using Quality Function Deployment (QFD). To this purpose, the classical two-dimensional House Of Quality (HOQ) matrix is changed to a three-dimensional form (3D-HOQ). The 3D-HOQ is applied to the marketing and Human Resources (HR) departments of a bank to determine customers’ and employees’ demands, respectively. The 3D-HOQ is also employed to provide a unique list of technical requirements to satisfy the identified demands. Obtaining a unique list of technical requirements with the cooperation of both departments reduces the inconsistency between departments, saves cost and time by preventing reworks and parallel works, and increases the organization’s efficiency. Moreover, 3D-HOQ is combined with the SERVQUAL technique and fuzzy theory to determine the weight of obtained technical requirements. The study is conducted in four main steps, (1) identifying the customers’ and employees’ demands, (2) identifying the technical requirements for simultaneous satisfaction of both customers’ and employees’ demands, (3) determining the relationships between the technical requirements and the identified demands, and (4) prioritizing technical requirements. Applying the 3D-HOQ resulted in identifying 30 customers’ demands, 30 employees’ demands, and 50 technical requirements. The study results show that "using new banking technologies" has the highest weight among the customers’ demands, and "job security" has been found to have the highest weight among employees’ demands. Moreover, "Intra-organizational processes automation" has been identified as the technical requirement with the highest weight.

  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Electronic library. - : Emerald Group Publishing Limited. - 0264-0473 .- 1758-616X. ; 41:2/3, s. 286-307
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • PurposeGamification applications (apps) are gaining great attention in many contexts and have grown increasingly. Despite their significant role in many settings, prior research mainly focused on initial adoption, and there are limited studies on the post-adoption stage. This study aims to explore the factors influencing individuals' continuance intention to use gamified task manager apps, drawing on the technology continuance theory (TCT) by integrating enjoyment, habit and social influence. Design/methodology/approachData were obtained from 318 Malaysian who had prior experience with task management gamified apps and analysed with the partial least squares approach. FindingsAccording to the results, confirmation, perceived usefulness (PU) and enjoyment positively influence satisfaction. PU, enjoyment, satisfaction and social influence affect attitude, while the result failed to confirm the association between perceived ease of use and attitude. Furthermore, PU, attitude and habit are strong determinants of users' continuance intention. Moreover, continuance intention was not predicted by users' satisfaction and social influence. Practical implicationsThe findings provide directions for developers and marketers of gamified task manager apps. Besides the technological and functional benefits of applications, they should also consider social, hedonic and individual factors in the designing and marketing stages. Originality/valueThis study extends the literature by assessing the determinants of continuous intention to use gamified task manager apps; and extending the TCT in the context of gamification by incorporating three contextual factors, namely, perceived enjoyment, social influence and habit.

  • Determinants of intention to use autonomous vehicles : Findings from PLS-SEM and ANFIS
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services. - : Elsevier. - 0969-6989 .- 1873-1384. ; 70
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered autonomous vehicles (AVs) are one of the most disruptive technologies with potentially wide-ranging social implications, including improvements in passenger/driver safety, environmental protection, and equity considerations. The current research extends the UTAUT2 model in the context of fully AVs (level 5 automation) to determine and rank determinants of intention to adopt AVs. Collected data from 378 respondents were analysed by a hybrid approach employing partial least squares (PLS) complemented by the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) technique. According to the findings, five major determinants emerged: trust, hedonic motivation, social influence, compatibility, and effort expectancy. Furthermore, compatibility positively moderates the association between performance expectancy and intention to use AVs. The findings shed light on determinant factors, their level of importance, and the potential interplay between them in shaping individuals’ intention to adopt and use AVs. Furthermore, the current research provides valuable insights to carmakers, technology developers, and practitioners on determinants of AVs adoption, assisting them in devising effective AVs-related strategies.

  • Determinants of Intention to Use ChatGPT for Educational Purposes : Findings from PLS-SEM and fsQCA
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction. - : Taylor & Francis. - 1044-7318 .- 1532-7590. ; , s. 1-20
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • ChatGPT can revolutionize education by enhancing student engagement and making learning more personalized. Drawing on UTAUT2, this study investigated determinants of intention to use ChatGPT for educational purposes. Data were gathered from 406 Malaysian students and analyzed using a hybrid approach including “partial least squares” (PLS) and “fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis” (fsQCA). PLS showed that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, and learning value significantly influence the intention to use ChatGPT. Furthermore, we found that personal innovativeness and information accuracy negatively moderate the associations between ChatGPT use and its determinants. While PLS demonstrated that social influence, facilitating conditions, and habit do not affect ChatGPT use, fsQCA revealed that all factors might affect the intention to use ChatGPT. fsQCA suggested that eight combinations of factors may lead to high ChatGPT use. The results hold various implications for ChatGPT developers, instructors, and universities and provide insights for accelerating ChatGPT adoption.

  • Reuse intention of augmented reality apps : recreational consciousness as moderator
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Service Industries Journal. - : Routledge. - 0264-2069 .- 1743-9507. ; , s. 1-42
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study investigated the determinants of intention to reuse augmented reality (AR) apps. The data were obtained from 439 IKEA Place app users and evaluated using the ‘partial least squares’ (PLS) and ‘fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis’ (fsQCA) approaches. PLS findings revealed that AR attributes significantly influence perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and confirmation. All the relationships under the technology continuance theory were confirmed except for the impact of perceived usefulness on attitude. Recreational consciousness positively moderates the influence of attitude on reuse intentions. fsQCA approach uncovered seven configurations of variables that result in high reuse intentions and identified satisfaction as a necessary condition. The study contributed to the literature by (i) exploring the drivers of intention to reuse AR Apps, (ii) extending technology continuance theory, (iii) demonstrating the moderating influence of recreational consciousness, and (iv) using the PLS-fsQCA approach. The findings help develop strategies and design AR apps aimed at retaining users.

  • Industry 4.0 digital transformation and opportunities for supply chain resilience : a comprehensive review and a strategic roadmap
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Production planning & control (Print). - : Taylor & Francis. - 0953-7287 .- 1366-5871. ; , s. 1-31
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Despite interest in opportunities that Industry 4.0 offers for Supply Chain Resilience (SCR), little is known about the underlying mechanisms for such contributions. The study develops a roadmap that explains how supply chains can capitalize on Industry 4.0 SCR functions. The study conducted a content-centric literature review and identified 16 functions through which Industry 4.0 enhances SCR. Results reveal that the Industry 4.0 SCR functions identified are highly interrelated, and supply chain members should align their digitalization strategies with the sequence in which Industry 4.0 delivers these functions. Industry 4.0 contribution to SCR first involves delivering data-centric functions such as supply chain automation, information and communication quality, process monitoring, and visibility. Industry 4.0 further allows supply chain partners to collaborate better on improving supply chain mapping, complexity management, and innovation capabilities. Through these functions and by increasing transparency, flexibility, and agility of supply chain operations, Industry 4.0 delivers more dependent but consequential resilience functions such as supply chain responsiveness, adaptive capability, and continuity management. The roadmap further explains how each pair of Industry 4.0 SCR functions mutually interact while contributing to the overall resilience of the supply chain. The study discusses possible implications and outlines important avenues for future research.

  • Industry 5.0 implications for inclusive sustainable manufacturing : An evidence-knowledge-based strategic roadmap
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Cleaner Production. - : Elsevier BV. - 0959-6526 .- 1879-1786. ; 417
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Despite the hype surrounding Industry 5.0 and its importance for sustainability, the micro-mechanisms through which this agenda can lead to socio-environmental values are largely understudied. The present study strived to address this knowledge gap by developing a strategic roadmap that outlines how Industry 5.0 can boost sustainable manufacturing. The study first conducted a content-centric literature review and identified 12 functions through which Industry 5.0 can inclusively boost sustainable manufacturing. The study further developed a strategic roadmap that identified the complex contextual relationships among the functions and explained how they should be synergistically leveraged to maximize their contribution to sustainability. Results reveal that value network integration, sustainable technology governance, sustainable business model innovation, and sustainable skill development are the most driver and tangible implications of Industry 5.0 for sustainable manufacturing. Alternatively, renewable integration and manufacturing resilience are among the most dependent and hard-to-reach sustainable functions of Industry 5.0, and their materialization requires major strategic collaboration among stakeholders. The strategic roadmap outlines how Industry 5.0 stakeholders can leverage the technological and functional constituents of this agenda to promote sustainable manufacturing inclusively.

  • Intelligent automation implementation and corporate sustainability performance : The enabling role of corporate social responsibility strategy
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Technology in society. - : Elsevier BV. - 0160-791X .- 1879-3274. ; 74
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Although Intelligent Automation (IA) represents the future of business automation, the organizational imple-mentation and sustainability performance of this emerging technological innovation is vastly understudied. Understanding the implications of IA for sustainability is critical since leveraging these technologies shapes operations and policies that can promote sustainable digitalization and automation practices. We study how firms' technological, organizational, environmental, and human resource contexts impact IA implementation. The study further explains how IA may associate with the firm's triple bottom line while accounting for the moderating role of corporate social responsibility strategy. The study surveyed 207 multinational firms in 2022 and used partial least square-structural equation modeling to test the hypothesized relationships. Results showed that IA implementation is mainly determined by the characteristics of the firm's internal environment, such as absorptive capacity, employee socio-behavioral concerns, and social capital competency. IA may offer valuable opportunities for boosting the firm's economic and environmental sustainability performance. Nonetheless, IA is a double-edged sword for social sustainability, harming social values in implementing firms with informal corporate social sustainability strategies. Conversely, firms with formal corporate social sustainability strategy have a significantly higher opportunity to transform the value of IA into social sustainability performance. Findings are expected to assist managers and decision-makers with streamlining an impartial and sustainable transition of organizations toward automation.

  • Effects of supply chain transparency, alignment, adaptability, and agility on blockchain adoption in supply chain among SMEs
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Computers & industrial engineering. - : Elsevier. - 0360-8352 .- 1879-0550. ; 176
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study aims to investigate the extent to which the contributions of blockchain technology to supply chain parameters influence blockchain adoption among SMEs. Drawing on contingency theory, the study investigates the moderating effect of market turbulence. The data were collected from 204 SMEs in Malaysia’s manufacturing sector and analysed using the partial least squares technique. The results showed that the intention of SMEs’ managers to adopt blockchain is influenced by the contributions of blockchain to supply chain transparency and agility. Supply chain transparency, alignment, adaptability, and agility are interrelated. Market turbulence moderates positively the association between agility and intention to adopt blockchain. This study extends the literature by decomposing the concept of relative advantages and investigating the influences of blockchain benefits on blockchain adoption. The moderating effect of market turbulence indicates that the influence of blockchain on agility is more important for SMEs operating in a turbulent environment than the SMEs in a stable market. The findings help the policymakers and blockchain vendors in developing effective plans and strategies to speed up the adoption of blockchain among SMEs. Furthermore, the results give confidence to the managers and owners of SMEs that blockchain can be a valuable competitive advantage source.

  • Do industry 5.0 advantages address the sustainable development challenges of the renewable energy supply chain?
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Sustainable Production and Consumption. - : Elsevier. - 2352-5509. ; 43, s. 94-112
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Scholars assert that the fifth industrial revolution has the potential to go beyond Industry 4.0's efficiency and advance supply chain objectives for sustainable development, including adaptability, a human-centered orientation, and the durability of social and environmental issues. According to Industry 5.0-based solution methodologies, sustainable development challenges (SDCs) can be addressed in the renewable energy supply chain (solar energy). This study provides a distinct set of 23 SDCs and 19 Industry 5.0 advantages. Moreover, A hybrid fuzzy best worst method and fuzzy weighted aggregated sum product assessment technique are utilized in the renewable energy supply chain context. To determine the weight of SDCs, preliminary data are gathered based on experts' opinions. The outcomes indicate that the most significant SDCs in the renewable energy supply chain are “non-consideration of human factors,” “Inadequate regulation and implementation of environmental standards,” “Commitment of inadequate management for adopting sustainability,” “non-uniform alignment of sustainability, organization,” and “goal and customer expectation.” For overcoming the SDCs, “supply chain modularity,” “research and innovation in social and human problems,” and “building safer and more complicated hyper-connected networks” are the most prominent Industry 5.0 advantages. The study findings will give the most critical advantages for creating sustainability in the continued industry expansion–society engagement and more sustainable renewable energy supply chain, as well as creating a more resilient energy industry and society.

  • Determinants of environmental, financial, and social sustainable performance of manufacturing SMEs in Malaysia
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Sustainable Production and Consumption. - : Elsevier. - 2352-5509. ; 35, s. 129-140
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Discovering the determinants of firm sustainable performance from the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) perspectives is essential. However, few studies have empirically examined all three environmental, financial, and social pillars of sustainable performance into a single research framework in the context of emerging economies like Malaysia. Drawing on the resource-based view and institutional theory, this study identified the determinants of environment, financial, and social sustainable performance of manufacturing SMEs. Data was collected from 209 Malaysian manufacturing firms. A hybrid approach of structural equation modeling (SEM) - artificial neural network (ANN) was used to assess the hypotheses and predict the level of their importance toward sustainable performance. Results showed that green entrepreneurial orientation, green innovation, leadership commitment, stakeholder pressure, and market orientation positively and significantly influenced social performance. Environmental performance was predicted by green entrepreneurial orientation, green innovation, leadership commitment, and market orientation. Green entrepreneurial orientation and market orientation demonstrated a positive influence on financial performance. Results of ANN showed that leadership commitment is the most significant factor influencing environmental and social performance while green entrepreneurial orientation is the first ranked factor predicting financial performance. These findings extend the knowledge by shedding light on the determinants of SMEs' sustainable performance. The study enables SMEs to take proper actions in response to sustainability development. Besides, the findings assist practitioners and policymakers in setting effective plans by giving more attention to leadership commitment and green entrepreneurial orientation as the most significant determinants.
