- A set of carboxylic acids, all being potential scaffolds for combinatorial chemistry or peptide synthesis, were coupled to a polymer bound aryl hydrazine linker using microwave irradiation in good yields. Improved yields and reduced reaction times were achieved byusing microwave-assisted heating compared to conventional heating.

- The hormone melatonin, which is known to have a range of important biological effects, has been prepared in a high-yielding route that features formation of the indole nucleus by radical cyclization. Mediation of the radical cyclization by tristrimethylsilylsilane (TTMSS) is more efficient than by N-ethylpiperidine hypophosphite.

- Robust production experimentation is described as an important quality engineering activity. A cake mix experiment performed to illustrate split-plot confounding was used to eliminate the low resolution of standard inner and outer array designs. A necessary amount of information was furnished by the split plot design due to switching between fractions. The robustness of the product was improved by identifying the interaction between enviromental and design factors

- Acetals are efficiently hydrolyzed with silica gel‐supported pyridinium tosylate moistened with water in solvent‐free conditions under microwave irradiation. The method is efficient and mild, with acid‐sensitive 3‐hydroxyacetals and 3‐methoxyacetals being hydrolyzed in minutes in good yields.
