  • On the power and interpretation of panel unit root tests
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Economics Letters. - : Elsevier. - 0165-1765 .- 1873-7374. ; 66:3, s. 249-255
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We demonstrate that panel unit root tests can have high power when a small fraction of the series is stationary and may lack power when a large fraction is stationary. The acceptance or rejection of the null is thus not sufficient evidence to conclude that all series have a unit root or that all are stationary.

  • Compensating wage differentials and shift work preferences : Evidence from France
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: Economics Letters. - 0165-1765 .- 1873-7374. ; 74:3, s. 393-398
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study if there are compensating wage differentials paid for shift work using French matched employer–employee data for male full-time blue collar workers. There is a significant shift premium of 16% that has a significant impact on shift work choice.

  • A flexible specification of adjustment costs in dynamic factor demand models
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Economics Letters. - : Elsevier. - 0165-1765 .- 1873-7374. ; 72:2, s. 144-150
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper proposes a flexible form of adjustment cost function. An empirical illustration shows that the flexible form can detect both convex and non-convex adjustment costs. Furthermore, the flexible form permits testing for the experience effect on adjustment cost.

  • Post mortem reputation, compensatory gifts and equal bequests
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Economics Letters. - 0165-1765 .- 1873-7374. ; 68:2, s. 165-171
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Suppose that gifts are private information, only known to donor and donee, while bequests are public. Also suppose that parents care about the reputation that their bequest behavior will give them and that reputation deteriorates with the difference in amounts inherited. Then the optimal choice of altruistic parents is compensatory gifts and equal bequests. This is also what data show.

  • Replicating contests
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Economics letters. - : Elsevier B.V. - 1873-7374 .- 0165-1765. ; 71:3, s. 323-327
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We study comparative statics in symmetric contests. No general conclusions can be drawn about the effects of varying the number of participants or the value of the prize. Replicating a contest, however, always increases the rate of prize dissipation.

  • GARCH estimation and discrete stock prices: an application to low-priced Australian stocks
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Economics Letters. - 0165-1765. ; 81:2, s. 215-222
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The GARCH model is misspecified if applied to returns calculated from discrete prices. We propose a modification of the above model for handling such cases. We find large differences between the standard and the extended model estimates, although the results sometimes are obscured by large standard errors.

  • Export price responses to exogenous exchange rate movements
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Economics Letters. - : Elsevier. - 0165-1765. ; 71:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The export price responses to three different exogenous exchange rate movements are investigated, using data on Swedish exports of automobiles and kraft paper to three destination countries. A price determining error correction model indicates results consistent with price discrimination.

  • Non-reciprocal altruism in dictator games
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Economics Letters. - : Elsevier. - 0165-1765. ; 69:2, s. 137-142
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • We carry out a double blind dictator game experiment where the anonymous recipients are randomly drawn from the Swedish general population, and any donations are mailed to the recipients. About a third of the subjects donate some money. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
