- The development of future 3D-printed electronics relies on the access to highly conductive inexpensive materials that are printable at low temperatures (<100 C). The implementation of available materials for these applications are, however, still limited by issues related to cost and printing quality. Here, we report on the simple hydrothermal growth of novel nanocomposites that are well suited for conductive printing applications. The nanocomposites comprise highly Al-doped ZnO nanorods grown on graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs). The ZnO nanorods play the two major roles of (i) preventing GNPs from agglomerating and (ii) promoting electrical conduction paths between the graphene platelets. The effect of two different ZnO-nanorod morphologies with varying Al-doping concentration on the nanocomposite conductivity and the graphenedispersity are investigated. Time-dependent absorption, photoluminescence and photoconductivity measurements show that growth in high pH solutions promotes a better graphene dispersity, higher doping levels and enhanced bonding between the graphene and the ZnO nanorods. Growth in low pH solutions yields samples characterized by a higher conductivity and a reduced number of surface defects. These samples also exhibit a large persistent photoconductivity attributed to an effective charge separation and transfer from the nanorods to the graphene platelets. Our findings can be used to tailor the conductivity of novel printable composites, or for fabrication of large volumes of inexpensive porous conjugated graphene-semiconductor composites. © 2018 IOP Publishing Ltd.

- Ha transcurrido casi seis décadas desde el triunfo en Cuba de la Revolución el primero de enero de 1959. A lo largo de esos años el pueblo cubano ha sido protagonista de innumerables acontecimientos en defensa de su independencia frente a la obstinada política agresiva de las administraciones estadounidenses. Entre estos se destaca, por su carácter y trascendencia global, la crisis de octubre o de ‘los misiles’ de 1962, cuando la humanidad se vio al borde de la guerra nuclear. En ese peligroso conflicto, Cuba constituyó el escenario principal de esa confrontación.

Ejemplos desde ocho sitios con arte rupestre clasificados como patrimonio mundial Durante la última década la Carta de Ename ha reavivado las discusiones sobre la posición de las instituciones responsables de la administración del patrimonio cultural en relación con el uso del concepto de autenticidad en los materiales, y a la participación más activa de la sociedad civil en los sitios clasificados como patrimonio mundial. A pesar de que dicho documento representa un avance significativo en lo que respecta a la modernización de la idea de autenticidad y a la relación patrimonio-espectador- especialistas, el propósito de este artículo es exponer las limitaciones y dificultades prácticas de los avances teóricos de dicha carta. Se presenta un análisis del concepto de autenticidad a través del estudio de la “puesta en escena” y la comunicación pública en ocho sitios con arte rupestre, de diferentes partes del mundo, catalogados como Patrimonio Mundial. El texto revisa la idea de autenticidad que se utiliza en dichos sitios, el poder de las entidades responsables de ellos y cómo el concepto de autenticidad se encarna en cada uno dependiendo de la posición adoptada por las entidades que lo administran. Examples from eight rock art sites classified as World Heritage During the last decade the Ename Charter has vitalized the discussions of cultural heritage management concerning stakeholder participation and a more active public involvement, as well as concerning the issue of the authenticity at heritage sites. Despite the fact that the charter represents important developments and modernizations of the concept of authenticity, and the relation between cultural heritage–public–experts, the paper highlights the practical limitations and difficulties of the theoretical developments in the charter. The paper presents an analysis of the concept of authenticity through a study of the staging and the public communication at eight World Heritage classified rock art sites from different parts of the world. The paper analyses the idea of authenticity that is used at these heritage sites, the power of the heritage management responsible for them and how the concept of authenticity are materialized at the sites due to the attitude of the heritage managers. - This article presents new findings from a contemporary archaeology project that has been exploring the Missile Crisis (1962) and its material and immaterial remains in Cuba since 2005. The project is a cooperation between Swedish archaeologists and Cuban archaeologists, anthropologists and historians, and its primary aim is to complement the dominant narrative of the crisis with material and immaterial remains and memories in a way that approaches and explains the event “from below”. The current text focuses on the life histories of a Soviet nuclear missile hangar located at El Cacho, one of the former Soviet nuclear missile sites located in Los Palacios, and of the US Marston mats that can be found at a number of locations in farmsteads and villages surrounding the former missile sites in the Los Palacios and San Cristóbal areas. The life histories of these objects in western Cuba present the reader with new insights concerning the crisis that until now have been more or less concealed and unknown, contributing new complementary dimensions to the understanding of the Missile Crisis while also challenging the stereotypes constructing the dominant narrative.

- Previous works on the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) have approached the topic from the point of view of the U.S. and its allies, while Cuban experiences have still not been sufficiently discussed. This book presents new aspects which have seldom – or never – been offered before, giving a detailed account of the crisis from a Cuban perspective. It also investigates the archaeological and anthropological aspects of the crisis, by exploring the tangible and intangible remains that still can be found on the former Soviet missile bases in the Cuban countryside, and through interviews which add a local, human dimension to the subject.
