  • Octupole signatures in Ba-124,Ba-125
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics G. - : IOP Publishing. - 0954-3899 .- 1361-6471. ; 31:10, s. S1729-S1733
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The gamma decay of the nuclei Ba-121,Ba-125 has been investigated with the EUROBALL array, using the reaction Ni-64+Ni-64 at E-beam = 255 and 261 MeV. Six new E1 transitions have been found in the nucleus Ba-125, suggesting a significant role of octupole correlations in the origin of its parity doublets. The J(pi) = 3(-) level of the nucleus Ba-124 has been identified for the first time. Its excitation energy is in very good agreement with a prediction based on a microscopic model including octupole interactions.

  • Investigation of the Li-9+H-2 -> Li-8+t reaction at REX-ISOLDE
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693. ; 635, s. 17-17
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The one-neutron transfer reaction Li-9 + H-2 -> Li-8 + t has been investigated in an inverse kinematics experiment by bombarding a deuterated polypropylene target with a 2.36 MeV/u Li-9 beam from the post-accelerator REX-ISOLDE at CERN. Excitation energies in Li-8 as well as angular distributions of the tritons were obtained and spectroscopic factors deduced. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Low energy reactions with radioactive ions at REX-ISOLDE - the Li-9+H-2 case
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - : Elsevier BV. - 0375-9474. ; 748, s. 374-374
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • At the newly constructed postaccelerator REX-ISOLDE (Radioactive beam Experiment at ISOLDE) we have investigated reactions induced by a Li-9 beam incident on a deuterium target at an energy of 2.36 MeV/u. Most reaction channels were recorded. From one-neutron transfer the differential cross-section for the low lying Li-10 spectrum is found. The results from the other channels demonstrate the great applicability and many possibilities that REX-ISOLDE opens up.

  • Study of Li-10 via the Li-9(H-2, p) reaction at REX-ISOLDE
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 642:5-6, s. 449-454
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Click to view the MathML source reaction has been investigated at 2.36 MeV/u at the REX-ISOLDE facility. In this Letter we focus on the Click to view the MathML source channel which potentially holds spectroscopic information on the unbound nucleus 10Li. The experimental excitation energy spectrum and angular distribution are compared with CCBA calculations. These calculations clearly support the existence of a low-lying (s) virtual state, with a (negative) scattering length of the order asnot, vert, similar1324 fm and a p1/2 resonance with an energy of Ersimilar, equals0.38 MeV and a width of Γsimilar, equals0.2 MeV.

  • Low-spin collective behavior in the transitional nuclei Mo-86,Mo-88
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 76:1, s. 014307-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Low-spin structures in Mo-86,Mo-88 were populated using the Ni-58(Ar-36, x alpha yp) heavy-ion fusion-evaporation reaction at a beam energy of 111 MeV. Charged particles and gamma rays were emitted in the reactions and detected by the DIAMANT CsI ball and the EXOGAM Ge array, respectively. In addition to the previously reported low-to-medium spin states in these nuclei, new low-spin structures were observed. Angular correlation and linear polarization measurements were performed in order to unambiguously determine the spins and parities of intensely populated states in Mo-88. Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA) calculations were performed for the first and second excited 2(+) states in Mo-86 and Mo-88. The results are in qualitative agreement with the experimental results, supporting a collective interpretation of the low-spin states for these transitional nuclei.

  • Long-Term Effects of Pallidal or Subthalamic Deep Brain Stimulation on Quality of Life in Parkinson's Disease
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Movement Disorders. - : Wiley. - 0885-3185. ; 24:8, s. 1154-1161
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We assessed the effects of deep brain stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus (STN-DBS) or internal pallidum (GPi-DBS) on health-related quality of life (HrQoL) in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease participating in a previously reported multicenter trial. Sickness Impact Profile (SIP) questionnaires were available for analysis in a Subgroup of n = 20/20 patients with GPi-DBS and n = 45/49 patients with STN-DBS at baseline, 6 and 36 months. The SIP provides a physical dimension and a psychosocial dimension sum score and 12 category scores: Alertness/Intellectual Behavior (AIB), Ambulation (A), Body Care and Movement (BCM), Communication (C), Eating (E), Emotional Behavior (EB), Home Management (HM), Mobility (M), Recreation and Pastimes (RP), Sleep and Rest (SR), Social Interaction (SI), and Work (W). Motor functioning was assessed by means of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale and diaries. At 6 months significant improvements in off-period motor symptoms and activities of daily living were paralleled by significant reductions in the total, physical, and psychosocial SIP score in both treatment groups. At 3 years, sustained improvements were observed in the physical dimension score, BCM, E, M, RP after STN-DBS and M, SI after GPi-DBS. All other SIP subscores approached baseline values, but were still the same or better (except C) whereas motor functioning remained stable after 36 months. STN-DBS and GPi-DBS led to significant early improvements in HrQoL. Despite sustained motor improvements many of these initial benefits were lost after 3 years. This may reflect either progression of the disease or adaptive changes in the subjective perception of health-related wellbeing over time. (C) 2009 Movement Disorder Society
