  • Multi-leptons with high transverse momentum at HERA
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Journal of High Energy Physics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1029-8479. ; :10
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Events with at least two high transverse momentum leptons (electrons or muons) are studied using the H1 and ZEUS detectors at HERA with an integrated luminosity of 0.94 fb(-1). The observed numbers of events are in general agreement with the Standard Model predictions. Seven di- and tri-lepton events are observed in e(+)p collision data with a scalar sum of the lepton transverse momenta above 100 GeV while 1.94 +/- 0.17 events are expected. Such events are not observed in e(-)p collisions for which 1.19 +/- 0.12 are predicted. Total visible and differential di-electron and di-muon photoproduction cross sections are extracted in a restricted phase space dominated by photon-photon collisions.

  • Generalized Mueller matrix method for polarization mode dispersion measurement in a system with polarization-dependent loss or gain
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Optics Express. - : Optical Society of America. - 1094-4087. ; 14:12, s. 5067-5072
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A generalized Mueller matrix method (GMMM) is proposed to measure the polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in an optical fiber system with polarization-dependent loss or gain (PDL/G). This algorithm is based on the polar decomposition of a 4×4 matrix which corresponds to a Lorentz transformation. Compared to the generalized Poincaré sphere method, the GMMM can measure PMD accurately with a relatively larger frequency step, and the obtained PMD data has very low noise level.

  • High-spin and low-spin f-d transitions of Tb3+ in elpasolite hosts
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Physical Review B. Condensed Matter and Materials Physics. - 1098-0121 .- 1550-235X. ; 72:8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The electronic absorption spectra of Cs2NaTbCl6 and Cs2NaYCl6:Tb3+ have been recorded between 34000-43000 cm(-1) at temperatures down to 10 K. Well-resolved spin-forbidden and spin-allowed transitions are observed, comprising three and one electronic transitions, respectively, between the crystal field levels of 4f(8) and 4f(7)d (t(2g)) states. For transitions from the electronic ground state, symmetry selection rules restrict the upper crystal field levels to be Gamma(4u) (T-1u) symmetry. Three vibrational progression modes appear in the electronic transitions and these are assigned to breathing modes with the first, second, and third nearest neighbors of Tb3+. The experimental results are rationalized both from the use of a simple model and from the extended f-shell programs of Reid. The excitation process 4f(8)-> 4f(7)5d (t(2g)) involves a small (5.5 pm) bond length change which is considered to be a contraction rather than an expansion.

  • A pillar-array based 2-dimensional photonic crystal microcavity
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Applied Physics Letters. - : AIP Publishing. - 0003-6951 .- 1077-3118. ; 94, s. 241110-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Experimental results are presented for a high quality factor cavity based on pillar arrays. The cavityis formed from a square lattice of silicon pillars of finite height. The quality factor of the fundamental mode is about 7300 when the cavity is in air and 7800 when it is immersed in water.Since a pillar array has a large percent of connected void space and confines TM modes effectively,it has great promise for use in numerous areas including biochemical sensing and quantum cascade lasers.
