  • SZZ unleashed: an open implementation of the SZZ algorithm : featuring example usage in a study of just-in-time bug prediction for the Jenkins project
  • 2019
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Machine learning applications in software engineering often rely on detailed information about bugs. While issue trackers often contain information about when bugs were fixed, details about when they were introduced to the system are often absent. As a remedy, researchers often rely on the SZZ algorithm as a heuristic approach to identify bug-introducing software changes. Unfortunately, as reported in a recent systematic literature review, few researchers have made their SZZ implementations publicly available. Consequently, there is a risk that research effort is wasted as new projects based on SZZ output need to initially reimplement the approach. Furthermore, there is a risk that newly developed (closed source) SZZ implementations have not been properly tested, thus conducting research based on their output might introduce threats to validity. We present SZZ Unleashed, an open implementation of the SZZ algorithm for git repositories. This paper describes our implementation along with a usage example for the Jenkins project, and conclude with an illustrative study on just-in-time bug prediction. We hope to continue evolving SZZ Unleashed on GitHub, and warmly invite the community to contribute.

  • Concomitant use of warfarin and ticagrelor as an alternative to triple antithrombotic therapy after an acute coronary syndrome.
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Thrombosis Research. - : Elsevier BV. - 1879-2472 .- 0049-3848. ; 135:1, s. 26-30
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Treatment with warfarin in combination with clopidogrel has been shown to reduce the incidence of major bleeding as compared to triple antithrombotic therapy (TT; warfarin, clopidogrel and aspirin). However, there are uncertainties regarding the risk for thrombosis since poor-responsiveness to clopidogrel is common. Ticagrelor is a more potent platelet inhibitor, but data supporting concurrent use of ticagrelor and warfarin (dual antithrombotic therapy, DT) is limited. This study therefore sought to evaluate the risk of bleeding and thrombosis associated with DT after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

  • Are Model Cities an Effective Instrument for Urban Environmental Governance?
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Greening China's Urban Governance : Tackling Environmental and Sustainability Challenges - Tackling Environmental and Sustainability Challenges. - Singapore : Springer Nature Singapore. - 2367-1068 .- 2367-105X. - 9789811307393 - 9789811307409 ; 7, s. 25-49
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Since the 1980s, China’s central government has created various model and incentive schemes aimed at systematically and concurrently promoting innovative approaches for protecting the urban ecological environment. In this context, programmes such as the ‘model city for protecting the environment’, ‘garden city’, ‘eco-city’, or ‘low-carbon city’ have become an integral part of China’s system for urban environmental governance. However, the role of these policy-incentive schemes for promoting best practice is only partly understood. This chapter contributes to the literature with a conceptualization of model cities as a dynamic governance instrument. The analysis suggests that the distance between programme objectives and local practices increases with programme maturity. Model-city schemes inevitably reach a point of saturation once a competing programme provides new opportunities to gain political and economic rents.

  • Radioembolization Versus Bland Embolization for Hepatic Metastases from Small Intestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors: Short-Term Results of a Randomized Clinical Trial.
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: World Journal of Surgery. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0364-2313 .- 1432-2323. ; 42:2, s. 506-513
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Radioembolization (RE) with intra-arterial administration of 90Y microspheres is a promising technique for the treatment of liver metastases from small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NET) not amenable to surgery or local ablation. However, studies comparing RE to other loco-regional therapies are lacking. The aim of this randomized study was to compare the therapeutic response and safety after RE and bland hepatic arterial embolization (HAE), and to investigate early therapy-induced changes with diffusion-weighted MRI (DWI-MRI).Eleven patients were included in a prospective randomized controlled pilot study, six assigned to RE and five to HAE. Response according to RECIST 1.1 using MRI or CT at 3 and 6months post-treatment was recorded as well as changes in DWI-MRI parameters after 1month. Data on biochemical tumor response, toxicity, and side effects were also collected.Three months after treatment, all patients in the HAE group showed partial response according to RECIST while none in the RE group did (p=0.0022). After 6months, the response rates were 4/5 (80%) and 2/6 (33%) in the HAE and RE groups, respectively (NS). DWI-MRI metrics could not predict RECIST response, but lower pretreatment ADC(120-800) and larger ADC(0-800) increase at 1month were related to larger decrease in tumor diameter when all tumors were counted.HAE resulted in significantly higher RECIST response after 3months, but no difference compared to RE remained after 6months. These preliminary findings indicate that HAE remains a safe option for the treatment of liver metastases from SI-NET, and further studies are needed to establish the role of RE and the predictive value of MR-DWI.

  • Correlation between laser welding sequence and distortions for thin sheet structures
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Science and technology of welding and joining. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1362-1718 .- 1743-2936. ; 22:2, s. 150-156
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Thin ultra-high strength steel shaped as 700 mm long U-beams have been laser welded in overlap configuration to study the influence of welding sequence on distortions. Three different welding directions, three different energy inputs as well as stitch welding have been evaluated, using resistance spot welding (RSW) as a reference. Transverse widening at the ends and narrowing at the centre of the beam were measured. A clear correlation was found between the weld metal volume and distortion. For continuous welds there was also a nearly linear relationship between the energy input and distortion. However, the amount of distortion was not affected by a change in welding direction. Stitching and RSW reduced distortion significantly compared to continuous laser welding.

  • Metallurgical effects and distortions in laser welding of thin sheet steels with variations in strength
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Science and technology of welding and joining. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1362-1718 .- 1743-2936. ; 22:7, s. 573-579
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Geometrical distortions occur while welding, but the understanding of how and why they occur and how to control them is limited. The relation between the weld width, weld metal volume, total energy input, width of hard zone and distortions when laser welding three different thin sheet steels with varying strength has therefore been studied. Weld metal volume and total energy input show a good correlation with distortion for one steel at a time. The best correlation with the when including all three steel grades was the width of the hard zone composed of weld metal and the martensitic area in the heat affected zone. © 2017 Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

  • Comparison of methods for estimation of the intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) diffusion coefficient (D) and perfusion fraction (f)
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Magnetic Resonance Materials in Physics, Biology and Medicine. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0968-5243 .- 1352-8661. ; 31:6, s. 715-723
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: Intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) shows great potential in many applications, e.g., tumor tissue characterization. To reduce image-quality demands, various IVIM analysis approaches restricted to the diffusion coefficient (D) and the perfusion fraction (f) are increasingly being employed. In this work, the impact of estimation approach for D and f is studied. Materials and methods: Four approaches for estimating D and f were studied: segmented IVIM fitting, least-squares fitting of a simplified IVIM model (sIVIM), and Bayesian fitting of the sIVIM model using marginal posterior modes or posterior means. The estimation approaches were evaluated in terms of bias and variability as well as ability for differentiation between tumor and healthy liver tissue using simulated and in vivo data. Results: All estimation approaches had similar variability and ability for differentiation and negligible bias, except for the Bayesian posterior mean of f, which was substantially biased. Combined use of D and f improved tumor-to-liver tissue differentiation compared with using D or f separately. Discussion: The similar performance between estimation approaches renders the segmented one preferable due to lower numerical complexity and shorter computational time. Superior tissue differentiation when combining D and f suggests complementary biologically relevant information.

  • New Environmental Zones for Passenger Cars : Attitudes, Norms and Legal Compliance
  • 2019
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The fundamental premise for the present report is to examine the degree to which it is possible to predict compliance with future rules regarding environmental zones for passenger cars. This project combines the main quantitative survey study (Sub-study 1) with a semi-systematic literature review that is first and foremost based in a qualitative, thematic analysis (Sub-study 2).The survey study is based in Icek Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and consists of a socio-psychological model that can be used to predict behaviour and develop strategies for changing people’s behaviours. This theory focuses on behaviours that are preceded by cognitive processes which, in turn, lead to intentions that result in the individual taking action.

  • Structure reconsidered: Towards new foundations of explanatory transitions theory
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Research Policy. - 0048-7333. ; 47:2, s. 462-473
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The most prominent framework for studying socio-technical transitions to date is the multi-level perspective (MLP). While appreciated for its flexibility and usefulness for studying socio-technical transitions it has not been without its critics. In this paper we focus on the ontological foundations of the MLP and its (in)ability to explain transitions and how they come about. The purpose is to initiate development of an explanatory theory for socio-technical transitions, by carrying out an immanent critique of the ontological foundations of the MLP together with a methodological critique. We show that the ontological foundations of the MLP to a large extent inhibits explanatory capacity. The argument is fourfold: since structure and agency are understood as inseparable, (i) the causal influence of material properties are undervalued, and (ii) different degrees of structural constraint and freedom of actors are ignored. As a consequence (iii) transitions are reduced to shifts in the maturity and spread of socio-cognitive rules, without analysis of systemic change. Moreover, (iv) mechanisms are reduced to recurring patterns of events which cannot explain why some transitions fail while others succeed. To remedy these limitations we outline alternative critical realist foundations for transitions theory.

  • Röster från ingenmansland : En identitetsarkeologi i ett maritimt mellanrum
  • 2019
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Archaeological investigations into late iron age and medieval coastal societies in Sweden have been focusing on a maritime culture, a traditional coastal and island-dwelling fisher-farmer and activities centered on fishing in a long maritime tradition as well as a specific maritime identity and habitus. By deconstructing commonly used concepts and by using primarily written sources, it is here shown that there is a need for putting this culture and its agents into perspective by opening up the history of the maritime interspace and let in previously overlooked or disregarded historical actors in the narrative field dominated by men and landed farmers, such as landless, powerless, strangers, foreigners and women. The coast is shown to have been an arena for opportunism, societal expansion under landed gentry, nodes for procurement and social oppression and focal points for inter-cultural contacts, trade, networking and self-realization and that the role of the islands and the “fisheries” was constantly remolded to fit different power strategies.Through a series of case studies, seldom discussed social relations, social groups and social predicaments are unmasked and discussed; the relation between norse and proto-Saami cultures, the role of women in fishing, employment of the poor or serfs, of incentives by strangers and foreigners. Many localities speak of conflict, struggle and self-sought or forced marginalization; the emergence of taxation and the control of fishing, piracy and insurgency but also of exile, reclusion and asceticism. Running through history there has been a dichotomy and tension between the workforce and the benefactor, between small-scale and large-scale maritime procurement, between cooperation and conflict and between the meeting place and the hidden refuge. To conclude, the study sketches the ethno genesis of the hitherto “fisher-farmer” and exposes a wider set of actors and their strategies in the maritime space and ends with advocating a series of potentially fruitful research frameworks of study; cultural niches in the maritime environment, actor geographies in the outback, the use of maritime produce in societal transformations, and to further investigate the harsh, hidden or exposed, islands as places for sociocultural and economical strategies with profound social, psychological and spiritual impact.

  • Cystatin C and Cardiovascular Disease : A Mendelian Randomization Study
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Journal of the American College of Cardiology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0735-1097 .- 1558-3597. ; 68:9, s. 934-945
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND Epidemiological studies show that high circulating cystatin C is associated with risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), independent of creatinine-based renal function measurements. It is unclear whether this relationship is causal, arises from residual confounding, and/or is a consequence of reverse causation. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to use Mendelian randomization to investigate whether cystatin C is causally related to CVD in the general population. METHODS We incorporated participant data from 16 prospective cohorts (n = 76,481) with 37,126 measures of cystatin C and added genetic data from 43 studies (n = 252,216) with 63,292 CVD events. We used the common variant rs911119 in CST3 as an instrumental variable to investigate the causal role of cystatin C in CVD, including coronary heart disease, ischemic stroke, and heart failure. RESULTS Cystatin C concentrations were associated with CVD risk after adjusting for age, sex, and traditional risk factors (relative risk: 1.82 per doubling of cystatin C; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.56 to 2.13; p = 2.12 x 10(-14)). The minor allele of rs911119 was associated with decreased serum cystatin C (6.13% per allele; 95% CI: 5.75 to 6.50; p = 5.95 x 10(-211)), explaining 2.8% of the observed variation in cystatin C. Mendelian randomization analysis did not provide evidence fora causal role of cystatin C, with a causal relative risk for CVD of 1.00 per doubling cystatin C (95% CI: 0.82 to 1.22; p = 0,994), which was statistically different from the observational estimate (p = 1.6 x 10(-5)). A causal effect of cystatin C was not detected for any individual component of CVD. CONCLUSIONS Mendelian randomization analyses did not support a causal role of cystatin C in the etiology of CVD. As such, therapeutics targeted at lowering circulating cystatin C are unlikely to be effective in preventing CVD.

  • A just transition towards a coal-free steel industry: perspectives from labour
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: 14th Nordic Environmental Social Science (NESS). ; , s. 1-30
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Limiting global warming to ‘safe’ levels will require rapid and radical reductions of greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors of the global economy. The discontinuation of incumbent industrial structures, that will be an unavoidable part of such sustainability transitions, will disproportionally burden certain groups. Recent events including the social and political unrest linked to the imminent deterioration of coal communities and the fuel tax protests of the ’Gilets Jaunes’ have loudly shown that distributional effects of climate transitions cannot be ignored. Trade unions and NGOs have for some time called for an inclusive transition and brought increased attention to the justice dimension of energy transitions. In this paper, we analyse potential social impacts in a concrete case: the planned transition from coal to hydrogen-based steelmaking in the Swedish steel industry. To this end, we conduct a series of semi-structured interviews to examine the role of trade unions and the national trade union federation in re-orienting the industry. By doing so we aim to widen the scope of the just transitions debate to include process industries and to explore the concrete meaning of a just transition in the case of the planned transition of the Swedish steel industry. We analyse, on the one hand, the capacity of trade unions to influence the transition process, and, on the other hand, the potential social impacts of the transition on the labour force and local communities. As the transition of the Swedish steel sector kicks into gear, we highlight a number of social issues that should be addressed both within industry and through policy. We conclude that it is important to early on: include stakeholders in the process, bring up social and political aspects of the transition, and acknowledge and address potential conflicting interests associated with it.

  • A catalog of genetic loci associated with kidney function from analyses of a million individuals
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - : NATURE PUBLISHING GROUP. - 1061-4036 .- 1546-1718. ; 51:6, s. 957-972
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is responsible for a public health burden with multi-systemic complications. Through transancestry meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and independent replication (n = 1,046,070), we identified 264 associated loci (166 new). Of these,147 were likely to be relevant for kidney function on the basis of associations with the alternative kidney function marker blood urea nitrogen (n = 416,178). Pathway and enrichment analyses, including mouse models with renal phenotypes, support the kidney as the main target organ. A genetic risk score for lower eGFR was associated with clinically diagnosed CKD in 452,264 independent individuals. Colocalization analyses of associations with eGFR among 783,978 European-ancestry individuals and gene expression across 46 human tissues, including tubulo-interstitial and glomerular kidney compartments, identified 17 genes differentially expressed in kidney. Fine-mapping highlighted missense driver variants in 11 genes and kidney-specific regulatory variants. These results provide a comprehensive priority list of molecular targets for translational research.
