  • Analysis and Results of the 104Sn Coulomb Excitation Experiment
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics: Conference Series. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6596 .- 1742-6588. ; 533:1
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The analysis of the Coulomb excitation experiment conducted on 104Sn required a strict selection of the data in order to reduce the large background present in the gamma-ray energy spectra and identify the gamma-ray peak corresponding to the Coulomb excitation events. As a result the B(E2; 0 + -> 2+) value could be extracted, which established the downward trend towards 100Sn and therefore the robustness of the N=Z=50 core against quadrupole excitations.

  • Coulomb Excitation of Sn-104 and the Strength of the Sn-100 Shell Closure
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 110:17, s. 172501-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A measurement of the reduced transition probability for the excitation of the ground state to the first 2(+) state in Sn-104 has been performed using relativistic Coulomb excitation at GSI. Sn-104 is the lightest isotope in the Sn chain for which this quantity has been measured. The result is a key point in the discussion of the evolution of nuclear structure in the proximity of the doubly magic nucleus Sn-100. The value B(E2; 0(+) -> 2(+)) = 0.10(4) e(2)b(2) is significantly lower than earlier results for Sn-106 and heavier isotopes. The result is well reproduced by shell model predictions and therefore indicates a robust N = Z = 50 shell closure.

  • Secretory Phospholipase A(2)-IIA and Cardiovascular Disease
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Journal of the American College of Cardiology. - : Elsevier. - 0735-1097 .- 1558-3597. ; 62:21, s. 1966-1976
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives This study sought to investigate the role of secretory phospholipase A(2) (sPLA(2))-IIA in cardiovascular disease. less thanbrgreater than less thanbrgreater thanBackground Higher circulating levels of sPLA(2)-IIA mass or sPLA(2) enzyme activity have been associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events. However, it is not clear if this association is causal. A recent phase III clinical trial of an sPLA(2) inhibitor (varespladib) was stopped prematurely for lack of efficacy. less thanbrgreater than less thanbrgreater thanMethods We conducted a Mendelian randomization meta-analysis of 19 general population studies (8,021 incident, 7,513 prevalent major vascular events [MVE] in 74,683 individuals) and 10 acute coronary syndrome (ACS) cohorts (2,520 recurrent MVE in 18,355 individuals) using rs11573156, a variant in PLA2G2A encoding the sPLA(2)-IIA isoenzyme, as an instrumental variable. less thanbrgreater than less thanbrgreater thanResults PLA2G2A rs11573156 C allele associated with lower circulating sPLA(2)-IIA mass (38% to 44%) and sPLA(2) enzyme activity (3% to 23%) per C allele. The odds ratio (OR) for MVE per rs11573156 C allele was 1.02 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.98 to 1.06) in general populations and 0.96 (95% CI: 0.90 to 1.03) in ACS cohorts. In the general population studies, the OR derived from the genetic instrumental variable analysis for MVE for a 1-log unit lower sPLA(2)-IIA mass was 1.04 (95% CI: 0.96 to 1.13), and differed from the non-genetic observational estimate (OR: 0.69; 95% CI: 0.61 to 0.79). In the ACS cohorts, both the genetic instrumental variable and observational ORs showed a null association with MVE. Instrumental variable analysis failed to show associations between sPLA2 enzyme activity and MVE. less thanbrgreater than less thanbrgreater thanConclusions Reducing sPLA(2)-IIA mass is unlikely to be a useful therapeutic goal for preventing cardiovascular events.

  • Spin-gap Isomer in 96Cd
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics: Conference Series. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6596 .- 1742-6588. ; 381:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Evidence has been obtained for the existence of the long predicted 16+ spin-gap isomer in 96Cd. The decay of the isomer was identified and studied following the use of an 850 MeV/u beam of 124Xe impinging on a Be target and the fragment recoil separator at the GSI Laboratory. Gamma decays from the fragments were detected using the RISING gamma ray array, in its stopped beam configuration, plus a silicon active stopper. The data obtained have been compared with shell model predictions, which indicate that the isoscalar neutron-proton interaction plays a key role in the formation of the isomer.

  • Genetic architecture of spatial electrical biomarkers for cardiac arrhythmia and relationship with cardiovascular disease
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Nature communications. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2041-1723. ; 14:1, s. 1411-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The 3-dimensional spatial and 2-dimensional frontal QRS-T angles are measures derived from the vectorcardiogram. They are independent risk predictors for arrhythmia, but the underlying biology is unknown. Using multi-ancestry genome-wide association studies we identify 61 (58 previously unreported) loci for the spatial QRS-T angle (N = 118,780) and 11 for the frontal QRS-T angle (N = 159,715). Seven out of the 61 spatial QRS-T angle loci have not been reported for other electrocardiographic measures. Enrichments are observed in pathways related to cardiac and vascular development, muscle contraction, and hypertrophy. Pairwise genome-wide association studies with classical ECG traits identify shared genetic influences with PR interval and QRS duration. Phenome-wide scanning indicate associations with atrial fibrillation, atrioventricular block and arterial embolism and genetically determined QRS-T angle measures are associated with fascicular and bundle branch block (and also atrioventricular block for the frontal QRS-T angle). We identify potential biology involved in the QRS-T angle and their genetic relationships with cardiovascular traits and diseases, may inform future research and risk prediction.

  • The SCARE 2018 statement: Updating consensus Surgical CAse REport (SCARE) guidelines
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Surgery. - : Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health). - 1743-9191. ; 60, s. 132-136
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Introduction: The SCARE Guidelines were published in 2016 to provide a structure for reporting surgical case reports. Since their publication, SCARE guidelines have been widely endorsed by authors, journal editors, and reviewers, and have helped to improve reporting transparency of case reports across a range of surgical specialties. In order to encourage further progress in reporting quality, the SCARE guidelines must themselves be kept up to date. We completed a Delphi consensus exercise to update the SCARE guidelines. Methods: A Delphi consensus exercise was undertaken. All members of the previous Delphi group were invited to participate, in addition to researchers who have previously studied case reports, and editors from the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports. The expert group was sent an online questionnaire where they were asked to rate their agreement with proposed changes to each of the 24 items. Results: 56 people agreed to participate and 45 (80%) invitees completed the survey which put forward modifications to the original guideline. The collated responses resulted in modifications. There was high agreement amongst the expert group. Conclusion: A modified and improved SCARE checklist is presented, after a Delphi consensus exercise was completed. • Isomeric States In 208Hg And 209Tl Populated In Fragmentation Of 238U
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Acta Physica Polonica. Series B: Elementary Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, Statistical Physics, Theory of Relativity, Field Theory. - 0587-4254. ; 40:3, s. 871-874
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The nuclear structure of neutron-rich N > 126 nuclei has been investigated following their production via relativistic projectile fragmentation of a E/A = 1 GeV U-238 beam on a Be target. The preliminary analysis indicates the presence of previously unreported isomeric states in the N = 128 isotones Hg-208 and Tl-209.

  • Nuclear Structure "Southeast" of 208Pb: Isomeric states in 208Hg and 209Tl
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C (Nuclear Physics). - 0556-2813. ; 80:6
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The nuclear structure of neutron-rich N>126 nuclei has been investigated following their production via relativistic projectile fragmentation of a E/A=1 GeV U-238 beam. Metastable states in the N=128 isotones Hg-208 and Tl-209 have been identified. Delayed gamma-ray transitions are interpreted as arising from the decay of I-pi=(8(+)) and (17/2(+)) isomers, respectively. The data allow for the so far most comprehensive verification of the shell-model approach in the region determined by magic numbers Z < 82 and N>126.

  • Low-lying electric dipole gamma-continuum for the unstable Fe-62,64 nuclei : Strength evolution with neutron number
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : ELSEVIER. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 811
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The gamma-ray emission from the nuclei Fe-62,Fe-64 following Coulomb excitation at bombarding energy of 400-440 AMeV was measured with special focus on E1 transitions in the energy region 4-8 MeV. The unstable neutron-rich nuclei Fe-62,Fe-64 were produced at the FAIR-GSI laboratories and selected with the FRS spectrometer. The gamma decay was detected with AGATA. From the measured gamma-ray spectra the summed E1 strength is extracted and compared to microscopic quasi-particle phonon model calculations. The trend of the E1 strength with increasing neutron number is found to be fairly well reproduced with calculations that assume a rather complex structure of the 1(-) states (three-phonon states) inducing a strong fragmentation of the E1 nuclear response below the neutron binding energy.

  • Angular Momentum Population In Fragmentation Reactions
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Acta Physica Polonica. Series B: Elementary Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, Statistical Physics, Theory of Relativity, Field Theory. - 0587-4254. ; 40:3, s. 889-892
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Neutron-deficient nuclei with N = 126 have been populated following projectile fragmentation of a U-238 beam with energy 1 GeV/A. The decay of several previously reported isomers has been measured. This will allow us to calculate high-spin isomeric ratios and compare them with model calculations to allow a better understanding of the reaction mechanism.
