    • In the present paper, a novel and efficient model was developed for predicting the effective thermal conductivity of the composite materials at different filler percentages. By introducing the relative radius as a parameter, the effective thermal conductivity can be predicted precisely when the thermal properties of filler and matrix are prescribed. The model employed the resistor network strategy to achieve a highly efficient prediction during the overall conductivity calculation. To verify this model, a wide range of two-phase composites, including Cu/PP, AlN/PI and a self-developed thermal conductive adhesive, were analyzed. The model-based simulation values showed good agreement with the experimental results. Moreover, a discussion on the effects of the newly-introduced parameter was given. Finally, the relationship between the filler radius variation and the thermal conductivity of the composite was studied.

  • A New Approach for Determining Rubber Enveloping on Pavement and Its Implications for Friction Estimation

    • The depth to which the pavement texture is enveloped by the tire tread rubber (d) is an important parameter related to contact performance. This study presents a new method (S-BAC), which relies on the ratio between the real contact area and the nominal tire-pavement contact area (S) and the bearing area curve (BAC), to measure the depth on pavements. The tire-pavement contact was simulated by contact between a non-patterned rubber block and pavement specimens. After analyzing the affecting factors, the new method was compared with previous methods by the d values and the application on the relationship between pavement texture parameters and friction. The results reveal that though there is a linear regression between the d obtained with the S-BAC and previous methods, the d values obtained with different methods differ. Applying the S-BAC method can strengthen the relationship between texture parameters and friction more than other methods.

    • The presence of natural toxins, pesticide residues, and illegal additives in food products has been associated with a range of potential health hazards. However, no systematic database exists that comprehensively includes and integrates all research information on these compounds, and valuable information remains scattered across numerous databases and extensive literature reports. Thus, using natural language processing technology, we curated 12,018 food risk components from 152,737 literature reports, 12 authoritative databases, and numerous related regulatory documents. Data on molecular structures, physicochemical properties, chemical taxonomy, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, toxicity properties, and physiological targets within the human body were integrated to afford the comprehensive food risk component database (FRCD, http://www.rxnfinder.org/frcd/). We also analyzed the molecular scaffold and chemical diversity, in addition to evaluating the toxicity and biodegradability of the food risk components. The FRCD could be considered a highly promising tool for future food safety studies.

    • In this paper stabilization of nonlinear systems with quadratic multi-input is considered. With the help of control Lyapunov function (CLF), a constructive parameterization of controls that globally asymptotically stabilize the system is proposed. Two different cases are considered. Firstly, under certain regularity assumptions. the feasible control set is parameterized, and Continuous feedback stabilizing controls are designed. Then for the general case. piecewise Continuous stabilizing controls are proposed. The design procedure can also be used to verify whether a candidate CLF is indeed a CLF. Several illustrative examples are presented as well.

    • In this paper, the stabilization of quadratic-input nonlinear systems with bounded controls is considered. According to the type of quadratic-input forms, two cases, namely, positive definite and positive semi-definite, are considered. For the case of positive definiteness, a universal formula for bounded stabilizers is given via a known Lyapunov control function. For the case of positive semidefiniteness, a constructive parametrization of bounded stabilizers is proposed under the assumption that there exists a known Lyapunov control function with respect to a smaller control set than the admissible control set.
