  • The GenTree Leaf Collection : Inter- and intraspecific leaf variation in seven forest tree species in Europe
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Global Ecology and Biogeography. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 1466-822X .- 1466-8238. ; 30:3, s. 590-597
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Motivation Trait variation within species can reveal plastic and/or genetic responses to environmental gradients, and may indicate where local adaptation has occurred. Here, we present a dataset of rangewide variation in leaf traits from seven of the most ecologically and economically important tree species in Europe. Sample collection and trait assessment are embedded in the GenTree project (EU-Horizon 2020), which aims at characterizing the genetic and phenotypic variability of forest tree species to optimize the management and sustainable use of forest genetic resources. Our dataset captures substantial intra- and interspecific leaf phenotypic variability, and provides valuable information for studying the relationship between ecosystem functioning and trait variability of individuals, and the response and resilience of species to environmental changes. Main types of variable contained We chose morphological and chemical characters linked to trade-offs between acquisition and conservation of resources and water use, namely specific leaf area, leaf size, carbon and nitrogen content and their ratio, and the isotopic signature of stable isotope C-13 and N-15 in leaves. Spatial location and grain We surveyed between 18 and 22 populations per species, 141 in total, across Europe. Time period Leaf sampling took place between 2016 and 2017. Major taxa and level of measurement We sampled at least 25 individuals in each population, 3,569 trees in total, and measured traits in 35,755 leaves from seven European tree species, i.e. the conifers Picea abies, Pinus pinaster and Pinus sylvestris, and the broadleaves Betula pendula, Fagus sylvatica, Populus nigra and Quercus petraea. Software format The data files are in ASCII text, tab delimited, not compressed.

  • Selective Synthesis of Imines via Photooxidative AmineCross-Condensation Catalyzed by PCN-222(Pd)
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Palladium metallated PCN-222 enables the selective cross-condensation of anilines with benzylic aminesunder photooxidative conditions and at ambient temperature. The method affords a series of linear and cyclic Schiffbases. The mild conditions used in this catalytic system results in the isolation of resourceful intermediates such as 2-(benzylideneamino)aniline and 2-(benzylideneamino)phenols, which can be further modified.

  • Modeling of the fracture energy on the finite element simulation in Ti6Al4V alloy machining
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Scientific Reports. - : Springer Nature. - 2045-2322. ; 11:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • One of the main problems that exists when working with Finite Element Methods (FEM) applied to machining processes is the lack of adequate experimental data for simulating the material properties. Moreover, for damage models based on fracture energy, the correct selection of the energy value is critical for the chip formation process. It is usually difficult to obtain the fracture energy values and requires complex tests. In this work, an analysis of the influence of this fracture energy on the cutting force and the chip generation process has been carried out for different sets of cutting parameters. The aim is to present an empirical relationship, that allows selecting the fracture energy based on the cutting force and cutting parameters. The work is based on a FEM model of an orthogonal turning process for Ti6Al4V alloy using Abaqus/Explicit and the fracture energy empirical relation. This work shows that it is necessary to adjust the fracture energy for each combination of cutting conditions, to be able to fit the experimental results. The cutting force and the chip geometry are analyzed, showing how the developed model adapts to the experimental results. It shows that as the cutting speed and the feed increase, the fracture energy value that best adapts to the model decreases. The evolution shows a more pronounced decrease related to the feed increment and high cutting speed.

  • Capability Driven Development : An Approach to Designing Digital Enterprises
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Business & Information Systems Engineering. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2363-7005 .- 1867-0202. ; 57:1, s. 15-25
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The need for organizations to operate in changing environments is addressed by proposing an approach that integrates organizational development with information system (IS) development taking into account changes in the application context of the solution. This is referred to as Capability Driven Development (CDD). A meta-model representing business and IS designs consisting of goals, key performance indicators, capabilities, context and capability delivery patterns, is being proposed. The use of themeta-model is validated in three industrial case studies as part of an ongoing collaboration project, whereas one case is presented in the paper. Issues related to the use of the CDD approach, namely, CDD methodology and tool support are also discussed.

  • Deliverable 1.2 : Initial version of requirements specification for CDD
  • 2013
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The CaaS project will elaborate the Capability Driven Development (CDD) approach that will allow digital enterprises to exploit the notion of 'capability' as a means of both designing for services and with services. This deliverable defines an initial set of requirements for CDD. These requirements are provided by the industrial partners through exploration of their use cases. The goal of this deliverable is to identify potential benefits that the CaaS approach could bring to the use cases as well the features to be included the CDD methodology. The requirements are elicited from the use case partners during semi-structured interviews. They are documented in a form of goal models, actor models and concept models for each partner separately. Information documented in these models is used to define envisioned capabilities to be design and delivered during the project as well as to establish the scope of each use case. The use case scope definition focuses on use case goals, causes of capability delivery variability, capability delivery context, functions to be provided in the use case as well as potential capability delivery adjustments. The use case specific models are combined together to obtain a preliminary set of general requirements for CDD. These requirements show CDD goals, types of stakeholders, types of context and types of adjustments. The deliverable ends with concluding remarks about the partners’ expectations for CDD. The requirements for the use cases described in this deliverable will be further elaborated in the final requirements document deliverable D1.4 and will be iteratively refined during the use case elaboration performed in work packages WP2, WP3 and WP4.

  • Delimiting species in Basidiomycota : a review
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Fungal diversity. - : Springer Nature. - 1560-2745 .- 1878-9129. ; 109:1, s. 181-237
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Species delimitation is one of the most fundamental processes in biology. Biodiversity undertakings, for instance, require explicit species concepts and criteria for species delimitation in order to be relevant and translatable. However, a perfect species concept does not exist for Fungi. Here, we review the species concepts commonly used in Basidiomycota, the second largest phylum of Fungi that contains some of the best known species of mushrooms, rusts, smuts, and jelly fungi. In general, best practice is to delimitate species, publish new taxa, and conduct taxonomic revisions based on as many independent lines of evidence as possible, that is, by applying a so-called unifying (or integrative) conceptual framework. However, the types of data used vary considerably from group to group. For this reason we discuss the different classes of Basidiomycota, and for each provide: (i) a general introduction with difficulties faced in species recognition, (ii) species concepts and methods for species delimitation, and (iii) community recommendations and conclusions.

  • Rationale and Study Design for an Individualized Perioperative Open Lung Ventilatory Strategy in Patients on One-Lung Ventilation (iPROVE-OLV)
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia. - : W B SAUNDERS CO-ELSEVIER INC. - 1053-0770 .- 1532-8422. ; 33:9, s. 2492-2502
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: The aim of this clinical trial is to examine whether it is possible to reduce postoperative complications using an individualized perioperative ventilatory strategy versus using a standard lung-protective ventilation strategy in patients scheduled for thoracic surgery requiring one-lung ventilation. Design: International, multicenter, prospective, randomized controlled clinical trial. Setting: A network of university hospitals. Participants: The study comprises 1,380 patients scheduled for thoracic surgery. Interventions: The individualized group will receive intraoperative recruitment maneuvers followed by individualized positive end-expiratory pressure (open lung approach) during the intraoperative period plus postoperative ventilatory support with high-flow nasal cannula, whereas the control group will be managed with conventional lung-protective ventilation. Measurements and Main Results: Individual and total number of postoperative complications, including atelectasis, pneumothorax, pleural effusion, pneumonia, acute lung injury; unplanned readmission and reintubation; length of stay and death in the critical care unit and in the hospital will be analyzed for both groups. The authors hypothesize that the intraoperative application of an open lung approach followed by an individual indication of high-flow nasal cannula in the postoperative period will reduce pulmonary complications and length of hospital stay in high-risk surgical patients. • Fast and Robust Synthesis of Metalated PCN-222 and Their Catalytic Performance in Cycloaddition Reactions with CO2
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Organometallics. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0276-7333 .- 1520-6041. ; 38:18, s. 3429-3435
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A simple and quick setup for the synthesis of PCN-222 and of a variety of metalated PCN-222(Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn), using of a microwave reactor, is reported for CO2 fixation. Metalation of prophyrins by microwave heating has been evaluated through UV-vis titration. PCN-222(M) were obtained in a three-step, one-pot reaction in a remarkable 72% yield in only 30 min. The materials have been characterized using a variety of techniques. A study of CO2 fixation through cycloaddition with epoxides and azidirines using metalated PCNs as catalysts is described. Cyclic carbonates and oxazolidinones were formed using CO2 at atmospheric pressure under mild conditions. Higher activity was observed when PCN-222(Co) was used compared to that with PCN-222(Ni, Cu, Zn).
