  • Electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of melt-spun ternary composites comprising PMMA, carbon fibers and carbon black
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Composites Science And Technology. - : Elsevier. - 0266-3538 .- 1879-1050. ; 150, s. 24-31
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this study, the electrical conductivity of melt spun composites consisting of PMMA containing both aligned carbon fibers (CF) and carbon black (CB) has been investigated. A broad range of composite compositions (up to 50 vol % CF and 20 vol % CB) was studied. The percolation thresholds of binary PMMA/CF and PMMA/CB composites were determined to 31.8 and 3.9 vol %, respectively. Experimental conductivity contour plots for PMMA/CF/CB ternary composites were presented for the first time. Additionally, based on a model for predicting the percolation threshold of ternary composites, a novel equation was proposed to predict the conductivity of ternary composites, showing results in agreement with corresponding experimental data. Finally, two mechanical contour plots for elastic modulus and tensile strength were presented, showing how the decreasing tensile strength and increasing E-modulus of the PMMA/CF/CB ternary composites was depending on the CB and CF filling fractions. The systematic measurements and novel equations presented in this work are especially valuable when designing ternary conductive polymer composites with two different fillers.

  • Wearable carbon nanotube devices for sensing
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Industrial applications of carbon nanotubes. - : Elsevier. - 9780323415316 - 9780323414814 ; , s. 179-199
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The application of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for wearable sensing device fabrication is an interesting area, attracting sustained scientific and technological interest. Acquisition of information from wearable technologies is considered a cornerstone in person-centered health informatics, because of its independence, currency, and timeliness. The unique physical and chemical properties (such as high aspect ratio, ultralight weight, high mechanical strength, high electrical conductivity, and high thermal conductivity) of CNTs make them an attractive nanomaterial for wearable sensor fabrication. Extensive efforts will continuously be made in both academia and industry in the research and development of wearable CNT sensors to enhance their function, flexibility, energy saving, and longevity. We will discuss recent advances in the design and application of wearable devices based on CNT materials for sensing, especially in the fields of medical equipment, motion detection, and environmental sensor.

  • Understanding human influence on climate change in China
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: National Science Review. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 2095-5138 .- 2053-714X. ; 9:3
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • higher than the global average. Changes in climate have exerted substantial impacts on water resources, agriculture, ecosystems and human health. Attributing past changes to causes provides a scientific foundation for national and international climate policies. Here, we review recent progress in attributing the observed climate changes over past decades in China. Anthropogenic forcings, dominated by greenhouse gas emissions, are the main drivers for observed increases in mean and extreme temperatures. Evidence of the effect of anthropogenic forcings on precipitation is emerging. Human influence has increased the probability of extreme heat events, and has likely changed the occurrence probabilities for some heavy precipitation events. The way a specific attribution question is posed and the conditions under which the question is addressed present persistent challenges for appropriately communicating attribution results to non-specialists. Human influence on China's climate is clear. Anthropogenic forcing is the main driver of the observed warming in mean and extreme temperatures, and its effect on heavy precipitation is emerging.

  • Final analysis of the phase III non-inferiority COLUMBA study of subcutaneous versus intravenous daratumumab in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Haematologica. - : Ferrata Storti Foundation (Haematologica). - 1592-8721 .- 0390-6078. ; 107:10, s. 2408-2417
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In the primary analysis of the phase III COLUMBA study, daratumumab by subcutaneous administration (DARA SC) demonstrated non-inferiority to intravenous administration (DARA IV) for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). Here, we report the final analysis of efficacy and safety from COLUMBA after a median of 29.3 months follow-up (additional 21.8 months after the primary analysis). In total, 522 patients were randomized (DARA SC, n=263; DARA IV, n=259). With longer follow-up, DARA SC and DARA IV continued to show consistent efficacy and maximum trough daratumumab concentration as compared with the primary analysis. The overall response rate was 43.7% for DARA SC and 39.8% for DARA IV. The maximum mean (standard deviation [SD]) trough concentration (cycle 3, day 1 pre-dose) of serum DARA was 581 (SD, 315) μg/mL for DARA SC and 496 (SD, 231) μg/mL for DARA IV. Median progression-free survival was 5.6 months for DARA SC and 6.1 months for DARA IV; median overall survival was 28.2 months and 25.6 months, respectively. Grade 3/4 treatment-emergent adverse events occurred in 50.8% of patients in the DARA SC group and 52.7% in the DARA IV group; the most common (≥10%) were thrombocytopenia (DARA SC, 14.2%; DARA IV, 13.6%), anemia (13.8%; 15.1%), and neutropenia (13.1%; 7.8%). The safety profile remained consistent with the primary analysis after longer follow-up. In summary, DARA SC and DARA IV continue to demonstrate similar efficacy and safety, with a low rate of infusion-related reactions (12.7% vs. 34.5%, respectively) and shorter administration time (3-5 minutes vs. 3-7 hours) supporting DARA SC as a preferable therapeutic choice.
