- We present a search for the production of neutral Higgs bosons decaying into tau(+)tau(-) pairs in p (p) over bar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1), were collected by the DO experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set upper limits at the 95% C.L. on the product of production cross section and branching ratio for a scalar resonance decaying into tau(+)tau(-) pairs, and we interpret these limits as limits on the production of Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) and as constraints in the MSSM parameter space.

- We report results from searches for neutral Higgs bosons produced in p (p) over bar collisions recorded by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We study the production of inclusive neutral Higgs boson in the tau tau final state and in association with a b quark in the b tau tau and bbb final states. These results are combined to improve the sensitivity to the production of neutral Higgs bosons in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). The data are found to be consistent with expectation from background processes. Upper limits on MSSM Higgs boson production are set for Higgs boson masses ranging from 90 to 300 GeV. We exclude tan beta > 20-30 for Higgs boson masses below 180 GeV. These are the most stringent constraints on MSSM Higgs boson production in p (p) over bar collisions.

- We report results from a search for neutral Higgs bosons produced in association with b quarks using data recorded by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 fb(-1). This production mode can be enhanced in several extensions of the standard model (SM) such as in its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) at high tan beta. We search for Higgs bosons decaying to tau pairs with one tau decaying to a muon and neutrinos and the other to hadrons. The data are found to be consistent with SM expectations, and we set upper limits on the cross section times branching ratio in the Higgs boson mass range from 90 to 320 GeV/c(2). We interpret our result in the MSSM parameter space, excluding tan beta values down to 25 for Higgs boson masses below 170 GeV/c(2).

- We present a search for the pair production of scalar top quarks ((t) over tilde (1)), the lightest supersymmetric partners of the top quarks, in p (p) over bar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 fb(-1) collected with the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Each scalar top quark is assumed to decay into a b quark, a charged lepton, and a scalar neutrino ((nu) over bar). We investigate final states arising from (t) over tilde (1)(t) over tilde (1) -> b (b) over bar mu tau(nu nu) over tilde and (t) over tilde (1)(t) over tilde (1) -> b (b) over bar tau tau(nu nu) over tilde. With no significant excess of events observed above the background expected from the standard model, we set exclusion limits on this production process in the (m((t) over tilde1), m((nu) over tilde)) plane.

- We present a search for Kaluza-Klein (KK) particles predicted by models with universal extra dimensions (UED) using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 fb(-1), collected by the D0 detector at a p (p) over bar center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The decay chain of KK particles can lead to a final state with two muons of the same charge. This signature is used to set a lower limit on the compactification scale of R-1 > 260 GeV in a minimal UED model.

Stroke genetics informs drug discovery and risk prediction across ancestries

- Previous genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of stroke - the second leading cause of death worldwide - were conducted predominantly in populations of European ancestry(1,2). Here, in cross-ancestry GWAS meta-analyses of 110,182 patients who have had a stroke (five ancestries, 33% non-European) and 1,503,898 control individuals, we identify association signals for stroke and its subtypes at 89 (61 new) independent loci: 60 in primary inverse-variance-weighted analyses and 29 in secondary meta-regression and multitrait analyses. On the basis of internal cross-ancestry validation and an independent follow-up in 89,084 additional cases of stroke (30% non-European) and 1,013,843 control individuals, 87% of the primary stroke risk loci and 60% of the secondary stroke risk loci were replicated (P < 0.05). Effect sizes were highly correlated across ancestries. Cross-ancestry fine-mapping, in silico mutagenesis analysis(3), and transcriptome-wide and proteome-wide association analyses revealed putative causal genes (such as SH3PXD2A and FURIN) and variants (such as at GRK5 and NOS3). Using a three-pronged approach(4), we provide genetic evidence for putative drug effects, highlighting F11, KLKB1, PROC, GP1BA, LAMC2 and VCAM1 as possible targets, with drugs already under investigation for stroke for F11 and PROC. A polygenic score integrating cross-ancestry and ancestry-specific stroke GWASs with vascular-risk factor GWASs (integrative polygenic scores) strongly predicted ischaemic stroke in populations of European, East Asian and African ancestry(5). Stroke genetic risk scores were predictive of ischaemic stroke independent of clinical risk factors in 52,600 clinical-trial participants with cardiometabolic disease. Our results provide insights to inform biology, reveal potential drug targets and derive genetic risk prediction tools across ancestries.

- We present a measurement of the elastic differential cross section dσ(pp̅ →pp̅ )/dt as a function of the four-momentum-transfer squared t. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of ≈31 nb-1 collected with the D0 detector using dedicated Tevatron pp̅ Collider operating conditions at √s=1.96 TeV and covers the range 0.26<|t|<1.2 GeV2. For |t|<0.6 GeV2, dσ/dt is described by an exponential function of the form Ae-b|t| with a slope parameter b=16.86±0.10(stat)±0.20(syst) GeV-2. A change in slope is observed at |t|≈0.6 GeV2, followed by a more gradual |t| dependence with increasing values of |t|.

- We present a measurement of the W boson mass using data corresponding to 4: 3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector during Run II at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over tilde collider. With a sample of 1 677 394 W -> e nu candidate events, we measure M-W = 80.367 +/- 0.026 GeV. This result is combined with an earlier D0 result determined using an independent Run II data sample, corresponding to 1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, to yield MW 80.375 +/- 0.023 GeV.

- This report describes a search for associated production of W and Higgs bosons based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of L approximate to 5.3 fb(-1) collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar Collider. Events containing a W -> l nu candidate (with l corresponding to e or mu) are selected in association with two or three reconstructed jets. One or two of the jets are required to be consistent with having evolved from a b quark. A multivariate discriminant technique is used to improve the separation of signal and backgrounds. Expected and observed upper limits are obtained for the product of the WH production cross section and branching ratios and reported in terms of ratios relative to the prediction of the standard model as a function of the mass of the Higgs boson (M-H). The observed and expected 95% C. L. upper limits obtained for an assumed M-H = 115 GeV are, respectively, factors of 4.5 and 4.8 larger than the value predicted by the standard model.
