Observation of Three Charmoniumlike States with JPC=1--in e+ e- → D*0D*-π

- The Born cross sections of the process e+e- -> D*0D*-x+ at center-of-mass energies from 4.189 to 4.951 GeV are measured for the first time. The data samples used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 17.9 fb-1 and were collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Three enhancements around 4.20, 4.47, and 4.67 GeV are visible. The resonances have masses of 4209.6 +/- 4.7 +/- 5.9 MeV=c2, 4469.1 +/- 26.2 +/- 3.6 MeV=c2, and 4675.3 +/- 29.5 +/- 3.5 MeV=c2 and widths of 81.6 +/- 17.8 +/- 9.0 MeV, 246.3 +/- 36.7 +/- 9.4 MeV, and 218.3 +/- 72.9 +/- 9.3 MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The first and third resonances are consistent with the psi(4230) and psi(4660) states, respectively, while the second one is compatible with the psi(4500) observed in the e+e- -> K+K-J=psi process. These three charmoniumlike psi states are observed in the e+e- -> D*0D*-x+ process for the first time.

- Using (1310.6 +/- 7.0) x 10(6) J/psi events acquired with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings, the decay eta' -> pi(+)pi(-)mu(+)mu(-) is observed for the first time with a significance of 8 sigma via the process J/psi -> gamma eta'. We measure the branching fraction of eta' -> pi(+)pi(-)mu(+)mu(-) to be B(eta' -> pi(+)pi(-)mu(+)mu(-)) = (1.97 +/- 0.33(stat) +/- 0.19(syst)) x 10(-5), where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

- Using a sample of (27.12±0.14)×108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, the decay ψ(3686)→Λ¯Λη′ with η′ subsequently decaying into γπ+π− and ηπ+π− is observed for the first time. The branching fraction of ψ(3686)→Λ¯Λη′ is measured to be (7.34±0.94(stat)±0.43(sys))×10−6. No resonant structures are evident in the Λη′, ¯Λη′ and Λ¯Λ mass spectra.

- Using (27.12 ± 0.14) x 108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the decay of ψ(3686) → Ω-K+Ξ0 + c.c. is observed for the first time. The branching fraction of this decay is measured to be Bψ(3686) → Ω-K+Ξ0 + c.c. = (2.78 ± 0.40 ± 0.18) x 10-6, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Possible baryon excited states are searched for in this decay, but no evident intermediate state is observed with the current sample size.

- Using electron-positron annihilation data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb, collected by the BESIII detector in the energy region between and , we report the first observations of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays , , and the Cabibbo-favored decay with statistical significances of , , and , respectively. The branching fractions of these decays are measured to be %, $ 0.03)$%, and %, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We find that the branching fraction of the decay is about one order of magnitude higher than that of .

Partial wave analysis of J/psi -> gamma eta eta '

- Based on a sample of (10.09 +/- 0.04 )x10(9) J /psi events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, a partial wave analysis of the decay J/psi -> gamma eta eta ' is performed. An isoscalar state with exotic quantum numbers J(P) (C)=1(-+), denoted as eta(1)(1855 ), has been observed for the first time with statistical significance larger than 19 sigma . Its mass and width are measured to be (1855 +/- 9(-1)(+6)) MeV /c(2) and (188 +/- 18(-8)(+3)) MeV , respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The product branching fraction B (J /psi -> gamma eta(1)(1855 ))B (eta(1)(1855 )->eta eta ') is measured to be (2.70 +/- 0.41(-0.35)(+0.16))x10(-6) . In addition, an upper limit on the ratio of branching fractions B (f(0)(1710 )->eta eta ')/B (f(0)(1710 )->pi pi) is determined to be 1.61 x10(-3) at 90% confidence level, which lends support to the hypothesis that the f(0)(1710 ) has a large glueball component.

Partial-wave analysis of J/psi -> K+ K- pi(0)

- A partial-wave analysis of the decay J/psi -> K+ K- pi(0) has been made using (223.7 +/- 1.4) x 10(6) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector in 2009. The analysis, which is performed within the isobar-model approach, reveals contributions from K-2* (1430)(+/-), K-2* (1980)(+/-) and K-4* (2045)(+/-) decaying to K-+/-pi(0). The two latter states are observed in J/psi decays for the first time. Two resonance signals decaying to K+ K- are also observed. These contributions cannot be reliably identified and their possible interpretations are discussed. The measured branching fraction B(J/psi -> K+ K- pi(0)) of (2.88 +/- 0.01 +/- 0.12) x 10(-3) is more precise than previous results. Branching fractions for the reported contributions are presented as well. The results of the partial-wave analysis differ significantly from those previously obtained by BESII and BABAR.

- Using a sample of (10.09±0.04)×109 J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of J/ψ→γη′η′ is performed. The masses and widths of the observed resonances and their branching fractions are reported. The main contribution is from J/ψ→γf0(2020) with f0(2020)→η′η′, which is found with a significance of greater than 25σ. The product branching fraction B(J/ψ→γf0(2020))⋅B(f0(2020)→η′η′) is measured to be (2.63±0.06(stat.)+0.31−0.46(syst.))×10−4.

Partial wave analysis of psi(3686) -> K+ K- eta

- Using a sample of (448.1 +/- 2.9) x 10(6) psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform the first partial wave analysis of psi(3686) -> K+K- eta. In addition to the well established states, phi(1020), phi(1680), and K-3(*)(1780), contributions from X(1750), rho(2150), rho(3)(2250), and K-2* (1980) are also observed. The X(1750) state is determined to be a 1(--) resonance. The simultaneous observation of the phi(1680) and X(1750) indicates that the X(1750), with previous observations in photoproduction, is distinct from the phi(1680). The masses, widths, branching fractions of psi(3686) -> K+K- eta, and the intermediate resonances are also measured.
