  • Multi-agent consensus over signed graphs with switching topology
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: 2022 EUROPEAN CONTROL CONFERENCE (ECC). - : IEEE. - 9783907144077 - 9781665497336 ; , s. 2216-2221
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Laplacian dynamics on signed graphs have a richer behavior than those on nonnegative graphs. In particular, their stability is not guaranteed a priori. Consequently, also the time-varying case must be treated with care. In particular, instabilities can occur also when switching in a family of systems each of which corresponds to a stable signed Laplacian. In the paper we obtain sufficient conditions for such a family of signed Laplacians to form a consensus set, i.e., to be stable and converging to consensus for any possible switching pattern. The conditions are that all signed Laplacian matrices are eventually exponentially positive (a Perron-Frobenius type of property) and normal.

  • Photo-healable ion gel with high mechanical property, fatigue resistance and shear resistance using a coumarin group containing diblock copolymer in an ionic liquid
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: European Polymer Journal. - : Elsevier. - 0014-3057 .- 1873-1945. ; 165
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Ion gels, polymer networks swollen with ionic liquid (IL), are ideal materials for application in flexible electronic devices. It remains a challenge to fabricate an ion gel with photo-healing, high mechanical properties, fatigue resistance and shear resistance. Herein, a well-defined diblock copolymer polystyrene-b-poly(methyl acrylate-r-7-(2′-methacryloyloyloxyethoxy)-4-methylcoumarin) (PS-b-P(DMA-r-MAOEMC), brief name: SMM, PS: IL-phobic segment and P(DMA-r-MAOEMC): IL-philic segment) was synthesized by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. For comparison, a random copolymer P(DMA-r-MAOEMC) (MM) also be prepared. In dilute solution, the SMM can form spherical micelles with PS-core surrounded by P(DMA-r-MAOEMC) corona chains in an IL, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethane sulfone)amide ([C2mim][NTf2]). In a suitable polymer concentration, the SMM and MM can form ion gels in [C2mim][NTf2] under 365 nm UV light irradiation through photo-dimerization of coumarin groups in corona MM polymer chains of spherical micelles and photo-dimerization of coumarin groups in MM random polymer chains, respectively. Compared with the MM ion gel, the SMM ion gel has high mechanical properties, shear resistance and relatively high fatigue resistance. Under 254 nm UV light irradiation, photo-induced gel to jammed micelles transition for the SMM ion gel and photo-induced gel to sol transition for the MM ion gel occur due to photo-cleavage of dimer in polymer chains. Photo-induced jammed micelles - gel transition for the SMM ion gel and photo-induced sol - gel transition for the MM ion gel are reversible by alternating 365 nm and 254 nm UV light irradiation, whereby photo-healable materials can be fabricated. Compared to the MM ion gel, the SMM ion gel has high photo-healing efficiency. The electrochemical property of the SMM ion gel can be recovered completely after photo-healing.

  • Signed Social Networks With Biased Assimilation
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control. - : IEEE-INST ELECTRICAL ELECTRONICS ENGINEERS INC. - 0018-9286 .- 1558-2523. ; 67:10, s. 5134-5149
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A biased assimilation model of opinion dynamics is a nonlinear model, in which opinions exchanged in a social network are multiplied by a state-dependent term having the bias as exponent and expressing the bias of the agents toward their own opinions. The aim of this article is to extend the bias assimilation model to signed social networks. We show that while for structurally balanced networks, polarization to an extreme value of the opinion domain (the unit hypercube) always occurs regardless of the value of the bias, for structurally unbalanced networks, a stable state of indecision (corresponding to the centroid of the opinion domain) also appears, at least for small values of the bias. When the bias grows and passes a critical threshold, which depends on the amount of "disorder" encoded in the signed graph, then a bifurcation occurs and opinions become again polarized.

  • Telomere-to-telomere and haplotype-resolved genome assembly of the Chinese cork oak (Quercus variabilis)
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Frontiers in Plant Science. - : Frontiers Media S.A.. - 1664-462X. ; 14
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Quercus variabilis, a deciduous broadleaved tree species, holds significant ecological and economical value. While a chromosome-level genome for this species has been made available, it remains riddled with unanchored sequences and gaps. In this study, we present a nearly complete comprehensive telomere-to-telomere (T2T) and haplotype-resolved reference genome for Q. variabilis. This was achieved through the integration of ONT ultra-long reads, PacBio HiFi long reads, and Hi-C data. The resultant two haplotype genomes measure 789 Mb and 768 Mb in length, with a contig N50 of 65 Mb and 56 Mb, and were anchored to 12 allelic chromosomes. Within this T2T haplotype-resolved assembly, we predicted 36,830 and 36,370 protein-coding genes, with 95.9% and 96.0% functional annotation for each haplotype genome. The availability of the T2T and haplotype-resolved reference genome lays a solid foundation, not only for illustrating genome structure and functional genomics studies but also to inform and facilitate genetic breeding and improvement of cultivated Quercus species.

  • The 1820s Marks a Shift to Hotter-Drier Summers in Western Europe Since 1360
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Geophysical Research Letters. - : American Geophysical Union (AGU). - 0094-8276 .- 1944-8007. ; 49:15
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recent soil moisture (SM) reconstructions revealed plunging trends and enhanced SM-temperature couplings over the last two decades in dry regions. However, how SM changed and whether the land-atmosphere interaction was intensified over time in humid regions remained unknown. Here we reported the first six-century-long regional summer SM reconstruction (1360-2000 CE) in western Europe (WE) using three individual tree-ring delta O-18 chronologies in England and France. A sharp wet-to-dry change occurred around 1820, earlier than 1850-1900 CE, the commonly used historical baseline of anthropogenic climate changes. Enhanced coupling of SM-temperature followed, with stronger summer sea level pressure anomalies in dry years after the 1820s. Our results reveal that the hotter-drier regime has also become more frequent in humid WE under global warming.

  • SIRT1-dependent deacetylation of Txnip H3K9ac is critical for exenatide-improved diabetic kidney disease
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy. - 0753-3322. ; 167
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist exenatide (exendin-4) has potential protective capabilities against diabetic kidney disease (DKD). However, the underlying mechanism has not been fully elucidated. The expression of thioredoxin-interacting protein (Txnip) is upregulated during DKD progression by histone acetylation. Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) is a deacetylase and is decreased in DKD, which indicates that it may regulate Txnip in this disease. Here, we used whole-body heterozygous Sirt1 knockout (Sirt1+/-) and kidney-specific Sirt1 knockout (KSK) mice to investigate whether SIRT1 regulates Txnip via histone deacetylation in DKD and exenatide-alleviated DKD. Exenatide substantially improved renal pathological damage, decreased the albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR), upregulated SIRT1 expression, and downregulated Txnip expression in kidneys of high-fat diet-treated C57BL/6J mice. However, these effects diminished in Sirt1+/- and KSK mice under exenatide treatment. The downregulation of Txnip expression by exendin-4 in high-glucose-treated SV40 MES13 cells was hampered during Sirt1 knockdown. These results demonstrate that kidney SIRT1 is indispensable in exenatide-improved DKD and downregulation of Txnip expression. Exendin-4 mechanistically downregulated Txnip histone 3 lysine 9 acetylation (H3K9ac) in a SIRT1-dependent manner and decreased spliced X-box binding protein 1 (XBP1s) recruitment to the Txnip promoter. These findings provide epigenetic evidence elucidating the specific mechanism for exenatide-mediated DKD alleviation and highlight the importance of Txnip as a promising therapeutic target for DKD.

  • The effect of cognitive behavioral therapy on chemotherapy-induced side effects and immune function in colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy : study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology. - : AME Publishing Company. - 2078-6891 .- 2219-679X. ; 14:4, s. 1869-1877
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) was one of the most widely diagnosed cancers in the United States in 2021. CRC patients may experience significant psychological stress and are susceptible to depression and anxiety. Previous studies have shown that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can reduce fatigue and improve quality of life among breast cancer patients. However, as a non-pharmaceutical treatment, it remains unclear whether CBT improves chemotherapy-induced side effects and immune function in CRC patients. In this study, we will conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) among CRC patients undergoing chemotherapy to determine whether CBT can reduce the side effects of chemotherapy and improve the immune function of CRC patients. Methods: The study will be a single-center RCT. CRC patients undergoing chemotherapy will receive either eight sessions of group-based CBT (every 2-3 weeks) or usual care (usual oncology care). Each participant will undergo assessments at baseline (T0), immediately post-intervention (T1), 3 months postintervention (T2), and 6 months post-intervention (T3). The primary outcome will include chemotherapyinduced side effects in CRC patients. The secondary outcome will be immune function (measured by levels of inflammatory cytokines). Other outcomes will include the levels of tumor markers, assessments of psychological status (perception of stress, depression and anxiety, self-efficacy, sleep quality, quality of life, social support condition, and cognitive function), and necessary laboratory examinations (biochemical index and blood cell counts) among CRC patients undergoing chemotherapy. Discussion: Our study will provide clinical evidence regarding whether CBT should be generalized in clinical treatment and the extent to which CBT reduces chemotherapy- induced side effects for CRC patients.

  • A novel self-refreshable capacitorless DRAM cell
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: ESSDERC 2009 - Proceedings of the 39th European Solid-State Device Research Conference. - 9781424443536 ; , s. 113-116
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A novel DRAM cell based on floating gate (FG) concept is investigated. Compared to the conventional two-transistor FG DRAM cells, this new memory cell has a much simpler configuration with only one transistor. Besides, its write speed is improved by introducing an integrated gated diode and state "1" can be self-refreshable. In this paper, the device configuration, the DRAM application feasibility, the self-refreshing ability, and the nondestructive read are discussed.

  • 2010
  • Ingår i: Solid-State Electronics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0038-1101 .- 1879-2405. ; 54:9, s. 985-990
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A novel DRAM cell based on floating junction gate (FJG) concept is investigated for its extended applications. Compared to the two-transistor floating gate DRAM cell, the new memory cell investigated in the present work has a much simpler configuration with only one transistor. Besides, its write speed is improved by introducing an integrated gated-diode so that state “1” can be self-refreshable. In this paper, the device configuration, the DRAM application feasibility, the self-refreshing ability, and the non-destructive read are explored. In addition, extended applications of the DRAM cell using the FJG concept will be discussed.
