  • A fused-ring based electron acceptor for efficient non-fullerene polymer solar cells with small HOMO offset
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: NANO ENERGY. - : ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV. - 2211-2855. ; 27, s. 430-438
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A non-fullerene electron acceptor bearing a novel backbone with fused 10-heterocyclic ring (in-dacenodithiopheno-indacenodiselenophene), denoted by IDTIDSe-IC is developed for fullerene free polymer solar cells. IDTIDSe-IC exhibits a low band gap (E-g=1.52 eV) and strong absorption in the 600850 nm region. Combining with a large band gap polymer J51 (E-g=1.91 eV) as donor, broad absorption coverage from 300 nm to 800 nm is obtained due to complementary absorption of J51 and IDTIDSe-IC, which enables a high PCE of 8.02% with a V-oc of 0.91 V, a J(SC) of 15.16 mA/cm(2) and a FF of 58.0% in the corresponding PSCs. Moreover, the EQE of 50-65% is achieved in the absorption range of IDTIDSe-IC with only about 0.1 eV HOMO difference between J51 and IDTIDSe-IC. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

  • New short-lived isotope 223Np and the absence of the Z = 92 subshell closure near N = 126
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 771, s. 303-308
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The N=130 short-lived isotope 223Np was produced as evaporation residue (ER) in the fusion reaction 40Ar + 187Re at the gas-filled recoil separator Spectrometer for Heavy Atom and Nuclear Structure (SHANS). It was identified through temporal and spatial correlations with α decays of 215Ac and/or 211Fr, the third and fourth members of the α-decay chain starting from 223Np. The pileup signals of ER(223Np)–α(223Np)–α(219Pa) were resolved by using the digital pulse processing technique. An α decay with half-life of T1/2=2.15(52100) μs and energy of Eα=9477(44) keV was attributed to 223Np. Spin and parity of 9/2− were tentatively proposed for the ground state of 223Np by combining the reduced α-decay width and large-scale shell-model calculations. This assignment together with the proton separation energy disprove the existence of a Z=92 subshell closure.

  • Genetic and immunologic evaluation of children with inborn errors of immunity and severe or critical COVID-19
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. - : Elsevier. - 0091-6749 .- 1097-6825. ; 150:5, s. 1059-1073
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Most severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-infected individuals are asymptomatic or only exhibit mild disease. In about 10% of cases, the infection leads to hypoxemic pneumonia, although it is much more rare in children. Objective: We evaluated 31 young patients aged 0.5 to 19 years who had preexisting inborn errors of immunity (IEI) but lacked a molecular diagnosis and were later diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) complications. Methods: Genetic evaluation by whole-exome sequencing was performed in all patients. SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies, autoantibodies against type I IFN (IFN-I), and inflammatory factors in plasma were measured. We also reviewed COVID-19 disease severity/outcome in reported IEI patients. Results: A potential genetic cause of the IEI was identified in 28 patients (90.3%), including mutations that may affect IFN signaling, T- and B-cell function, the inflammasome, and the complement system. From tested patients 65.5% had detectable virus-specific antibodies, and 6.8% had autoantibodies neutralizing IFN-I. Five patients (16.1%) fulfilled the diagnostic criteria of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children. Eleven patients (35.4%) died of COVID-19 complications. All together, at least 381 IEI children with COVID-19 have been reported in the literature to date. Although many patients with asymptomatic or mild disease may not have been reported, severe presentation of COVID-19 was observed in 23.6% of the published cases, and the mortality rate was 8.7%. Conclusions: Young patients with preexisting IEI may have higher mortality than children without IEI when infected with SARS-CoV-2. Elucidating the genetic basis of IEI patients with severe/critical COVID-19 may help to develop better strategies for prevention and treatment of severe COVID-19 disease and complications in pediatric patients.

  • X-Linked TLR7 Deficiency Underlies Critical COVID-19 Pneumonia in a Male Patient with Ataxia-Telangiectasia
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Clinical Immunology. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0271-9142 .- 1573-2592. ; 42:1, s. 1-9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) exhibits a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations, ranging from asymptomatic to critical conditions. Understanding the mechanism underlying life-threatening COVID-19 is instrumental for disease prevention and treatment in individuals with a high risk. Objectives We aimed to identify the genetic cause for critical COVID-19 pneumonia in a patient with a preexisting inborn error of immunity (IEI).Methods Serum levels of specific antibodies against the virus and autoantibodies against type I interferons (IFNs) were measured. Whole exome sequencing was performed, and the impacts of candidate gene variants were investigated. We also evaluated 247 ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T) patients in the Iranian IEI registry. Results We report a 7-year-old Iranian boy with a preexisting hyper IgM syndrome who developed critical COVID-19 pneumonia. IgM only specific COVID-19 immune response was detected but no autoantibodies against type I IFN were observed. A homozygous deleterious mutation in the ATM gene was identified, which together with his antibody deficiency, radiosensitivity, and neurological signs, established a diagnosis of A-T. Among the 247 A-T patients evaluated, 36 had SARS-CoV-2 infection, but all had mild symptoms or were asymptomatic except the index patient. A hemizygous deleterious mutation in the TLR7 gene was subsequently identified in the patient. Conclusions We report a unique IEI patient with combined ATM and TLR7 deficiencies. The two genetic defects underlie A-T and critical COVID-19 in this patient, respectively.

  • Novel Method to Identify the Precentral Gyrus and Its Detailed Functional Distribution in Real Brain Surfaces Using Reconstructed 3D Brain Surface Imaging
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: JOURNAL OF MEDICAL IMAGING AND HEALTH INFORMATICS. - : American Scientific Publishers. - 2156-7018 .- 2156-7026. ; 5:2, s. 216-222
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: To study the use of reconstructed 3D brain surface imaging (RBSI) to identify the precentral gyrus and its detailed functional distribution in epileptic patients. Method: A total of 12 refractory epilepsy cases that need intracranial electrode implantation were studied. In these patients, pre-operative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and functional MRI (fMRI) were conducted, and a cranial computed tomography (CT) scan was performed after electrode implantation. The RBSI was accomplished using Brain Voyager software based on MRI data, and then the 3D brain surface was integrated with the subdural electrode CT scan. The precentral gyrus was found in the reconstructed brain surface imaging according to their anatomical shape, and then were identified in the surgical field by comparing the exposed gyrus in the RBSI with the help of intraoperative photographs. Results: Total 12 cases of precentral gyrus was found and marked in the RBSI. There were 101 electrodes covering the precentral gyrus and 73 (72%) of them had motor response to electrical stimulation. In the contrast, (the area which is 1 cm ahead of the precentral gyrus), the motor response rate was 13% (17/130) (p < 0.05). During fMRI, 100% of the precentral gyrus and 58% (7/12) of post central gyrus was activated during hand movement. Whereas, no activation of the areas ahead of precentral gyrus was seen showing a significant difference between precentral gyrus and gyrus ahead. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that using RBSI technique, it is possible to identify the precentral gyrus with precision.

  • Genome-wide association meta-analysis in Chinese and European individuals identifies ten new loci associated with systemic lupus erythematosus
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Nature Genetics. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1061-4036 .- 1546-1718. ; 48:8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE; OMIM 152700) is a genetically complex autoimmune disease. Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have identified more than 50 loci as robustly associated with the disease in single ancestries, but genome-wide transancestral studies have not been conducted. We combined three GWAS data sets from Chinese (1,659 cases and 3,398 controls) and European (4,036 cases and 6,959 controls) populations. A meta-analysis of these studies showed that over half of the published SLE genetic associations are present in both populations. A replication study in Chinese (3,043 cases and 5,074 controls) and European (2,643 cases and 9,032 controls) subjects found ten previously unreported SLE loci. Our study provides further evidence that the majority of genetic risk polymorphisms for SLE are contained within the same regions across both populations. Furthermore, a comparison of risk allele frequencies and genetic risk scores suggested that the increased prevalence of SLE in non-Europeans (including Asians) has a genetic basis.

  • Progress of the key materials for organic solar cells
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Science in China Series B. - Beijing, China : SCIENCE PRESS. - 1674-7291 .- 1869-1870. ; 63:6, s. 758-765
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Organic solar cells have attracted academic and industrial interests due to the advantages like lightweight, flexibility and roll-to-roll fabrication. Nowadays, 18% power conversion efficiency has been achieved in the state-of-the-art organic solar cells. The recent rapid progress in organic solar cells relies on the continuously emerging new materials and device fabrication technologies, and the deep understanding on film morphology, molecular packing and device physics. Donor and acceptor materials are the key materials for organic solar cells since they determine the device performance. The past 25 years have witnessed an odyssey in developing high-performance donors and acceptors. In this review, we focus on those star materials and milestone work, and introduce the molecular structure evolution of key materials. These key materials include homopolymer donors, D-A copolymer donors, A-D-A small molecular donors, fullerene acceptors and nonfullerene acceptors. At last, we outlook the challenges and very important directions in key materials development.

  • Genome-wide meta-analysis identifies multiple novel associations and ethnic heterogeneity of psoriasis susceptibility
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Nature communications. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2041-1723. ; 6, s. 6916-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Psoriasis is a common inflammatory skin disease with complex genetics and different degrees of prevalence across ethnic populations. Here we present the largest trans-ethnic genome-wide meta-analysis (GWMA) of psoriasis in 15,369 cases and 19,517 controls of Caucasian and Chinese ancestries. We identify four novel associations at LOC144817, COG6, RUNX1 and TP63, as well as three novel secondary associations within IFIH1 and IL12B. Fine-mapping analysis of MHC region demonstrates an important role for all three HLA class I genes and a complex and heterogeneous pattern of HLA associations between Caucasian and Chinese populations. Further, trans-ethnic comparison suggests population-specific effect or allelic heterogeneity for 11 loci. These population-specific effects contribute significantly to the ethnic diversity of psoriasis prevalence. This study not only provides novel biological insights into the involvement of immune and keratinocyte development mechanism, but also demonstrates a complex and heterogeneous genetic architecture of psoriasis susceptibility across ethnic populations.

  • Warming amplification over the Arctic Pole and Third Pole: Trends, mechanisms and consequences
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Earth-Science Reviews. - : Elsevier BV. - 0012-8252. ; 217
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Warming amplification over the Arctic Pole (AP hereafter) and Third Pole (Tibetan Plateau, TP hereafter) can trigger a series of climate responses and have global consequences. Arctic amplification (AA) and Tibetan amplification (TA) are the most significant characteristics of climate change patterns over the two Poles. In this study, trends, mechanisms and consequences of both AA and TA are compared. Based on ERA5 reanalysis during 1979-2020, both AP and TP have undergone significant warming with an annual rate of 0.72 degrees C/decade and 0.34 degrees C/decade respectively, which exceeds the rates for the Northern Hemisphere (0.29 degrees C/decade) and the global means (0.19 degrees C/decade) over the same period. Based on 22 Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 models, AA over the AP is warming at a rate almost four times than the global means and twice as fast over the TP. Although both AA and TA are projected to continue in the future, currently there is no consensus on the dominant mechanisms for AA or TA over the two Poles. Proposed mechanisms of AA can be divided into two types: local climate factors (sea ice-albedo feedback, Planck feedback, temperature gradient feedback, cloud feedback, and water vapor feedback); and poleward heat and moisture transport from lower latitudes (atmospheric circulation effect, ocean circulation effect, and modulation of Pacific and Atlantic SST). Consequences of AA include decline of sea ice cover, retreat of the Greenland ice sheet, permafrost degradation, accelerated disturbances in marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and influences on extreme climate events at lower latitudes. Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emission, snow/ice-albedo feedback, cloud-radiation interactions, water vapor and radiative flux feedbacks, local forcing and feedback processes, land use changes and reduction in total ozone, are generally considered to be the main mechanisms causing TA. TA has caused significant change within the atmosphere and cryosphere over the TP and its surroundings, such as changes in climate extremes, snow cover, the retreat of glaciers, and permafrost degradation. Similarities and differences of warming amplifications over the two Poles are proposed, and the relative contribution of each mechanism to the warming amplifications and how the specific consequences may compare over the two Poles remain unclear and under continuing investigation.
