• Planetary Speculation : Cultivating More-Than-Human Arts
• 2019
• In: Cosmological Arrows - Kosmologiska Pilar. - Stockholm : Art and Theory Publishing. ; , s. 36-55
• Book chapter (peer-reviewed)abstract
• Science fiction in art and humanities brings out the more-than-human dimensions of our planetary existence, it forces us to re-think ourselves as part of a larger planetary consitutency. Feminist theory on SF (Haraway, Bryld& Lykke, Spivak) is here interrogated for the formulation of a planetary humanities of inclusion.

• Environmental violence and postnatural oceans : : Low trophic theory in the registers of feminist posthumanities
• 2021
• In: Gender, Violence and Affect. - London : Palgrave Macmillan. - 9783030569297 - 9783030569303
• Book chapter (peer-reviewed)abstract
• Environmental violence takes form of both “spectacular” events, like ecological disasters usually recognised by the general public, and “slow violence”, a type of violence that occurs gradually, out of sight and on a long-term scale (Nixon 2011). Planetary seas and oceans, loaded with cultural meanings of that which “hides” and “allows to forget”, are the spaces where such attritional violence unfolds unseen and “out of mind”. Simultaneously, conventional concepts of nature and culture, as dichotomous entities, become obsolete. We all inhabit and embody the world differently, as variously situated people, divided by national, sexual, bodily and economic status, and as very variously situated nonhumans in an increasingly anthropogenic world. This chapter focuses on subtle “slow violence” unfolding through the instances of submerged chemical weapons, so-called dead zones, invasive species and high- and low-trophic mariculture in the Baltic and North Sea regions. It zooms in on the select cases of such “environed bodies”, their stories of excruciating slow violence and yet also on unexpected encounters with care and hospitality. The aim is to unfold a low-trophic theory for the naturecultural research on violence and care within environmental humanities, and to engage a coexistential ethics of environmental adaptability informed by feminist posthumanities.

• Responsive Research Quality Articulations of the Humanities
• 2024
• In: Making Universities Matter. - Cham, Switzerland : Springer Nature. ; , s. 165-184
• Book chapter (peer-reviewed)abstract
• This chapter describes the development of research quality articulations. It shows how articulations of research quality in Swedish humanities policy spaces have changed between 1980 and 2010. The study demonstrates an increased presence and diversity of quality articulations in the spaces studied. However, different contexts produced different outcomes. Co-production between science and policy articulations resulted in what this study terms responsive quality articulations, neither internal nor external in nature. These findings have implications for how research quality can be studied and conceptualized, as well as for the history of humanities in Sweden. An understanding of how research quality has developed responsively complicates the commonly used narratives that depict the humanities as either passive or reactive to policy changes. Therefore, the findings offer an alternative narrative to the trope of a “crisis” in the humanities, by highlighting how humanities scholars influenced research policy in articulating quality. It shows that negotiations over research quality during these 30 years have been more complex than previously acknowledged, in turn allowing us to reassess current understandings of research quality in the humanities.

• East African Water Regimes : The Case of Kenya
• 2009
• In: Evolution of the Law and Politics of Water. - Dordrecht : Springer. ; , s. 105-120
• Book chapter (peer-reviewed)abstract
• This chapter outlines the evolution of water regimes in East Africa since pre-colonial times with a special focus on Kenya. It discusses how institutions and organizations for managing water resources and domestic water supply have been successively developed and fused with previous regimes. Institutions introduced as part of the colonization process in the early 1900s have partly-but not completely-replaced customary water regimes. After independence, new public objectives and evolving social structures prompted changes in the water regime, but institutions and organizations established under colonial rule were largely kept intact. The provision of services has not expanded as planned and many people still lack reasonable access to water and sanitation services. Currently, reforms are carried out to improve performance of the sector. Although the emerging water regime may lead to an increased cost recovery, it provides no guarantee for improved and sustainable service for the poor.
