  • Lindquist, Göran, 1923, et al. (författare)
  • Organisk psykiatri. Teoretiska och kliniska aspekter : Organic Psychiatry. Theoretical and clinical aspects.
  • 1990
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this book a theory about the nature of organic mental disorders (in the narrow sense) and a new diagnostic system for them are presented. The diagnostic concepts used are mainly rooted in the classical Central European psychiatric tradition but have been modified in the light of recently published research and the authors' own clinical experience from different parts of organic psychiatry.

  • Neurotechnology and Direct Brain Communication : New insights and responsibilities concerning speechless but communicative subjects
  • 2016
  • Bok (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Neurotechnology and Direct Brain Communication focuses on recent neuroscientific investigations of infant brains and of patients with disorders of consciousness (DOC), both of which are at the forefront of contemporary neuroscience. The prospective use of neurotechnology to access mental states in these subjects, including neuroimag- ing, brain simulation, and brain computer interfaces, offers new opportunities for clinicians and researchers, but has also received specific attention from philosophi- cal, scientific, ethical, and legal points of view. This book offers the first systematic assessment of these issues, investigating the tools neurotechnology offers to care for verbally non-communicative subjects and suggesting a multidisciplinary approach to the ethical and legal implications of ordinary and experimental practices. The book is divided into three parts: the first and second focus on the scientific and clinical implications of neurological tools for DOC patient and infant care. With refer- ence to these developments, the third and final part presents the case for re-evaluating classical ethical and legal concepts, such as authority, informed consent, and privacy.Neurotechnology and Direct Brain Communication will appeal to researchers and postgraduate students in the fields of cognitive science, medical ethics, medical technology, and the philosophy of the mind. With implications for patient care, it will also be a useful resource for clinicians, medical centres, and health practitioners.

  • Farisco, Michele (författare)
  • Filosofía de las Neurociencias. : Cerebro, mente, persona
  • 2018

  • “More Probable than Unlikely” - : A Tale of the Blood-Brain Barrier and Mobile Communication. Dedicated to Leif G, Salford on his 80th birth day 2021-12-07.
  • 2021
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Our team of the clinical researchers in Lund, Sweden, found that electromagnetic radiation, such as those used in mobile communications, even at shallow power values, cause users’ blood albumin to leak through the blood-brain barrier “BBB” into the brain tissue. The BBB is supposed to protect the brain against unwanted and toxic molecules potentially present in the blood, to transfer to the brain tissue. However, our team in Lund found that after exposure of rats to the radiation from mobile telephones, albumin in the blood leak into the brain and accumulates in neurons and glial cells. This matter would be of interest not only for researchers but also for radiation safety authorities and organizations worldwide as well as the general public. The studies performed at the Lund University by: Neurosurgeons: Leif Salford MD, PhD professor em., Henrietta Nittby MD, PhD,Neuropathologist: Arne Brun MD, PhD professor emeritus, Medical Physicist: Bertil RR Persson PhD MDhc prof. em., Jacob Eberhardt PhD, Electric engineer: Lars Malmgren Techn. Dr.

  • Long-term outcomes of epilepsy surgery in adults and children
  • 2015
  • Bok (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This book provides a comprehensive, rigorous review of the long-term outcome literature in epilepsy surgery in both adults and children. Each chapter examines the long-term outcome literature in a separate domain; covering seizure control, social, vocational/educational and psychiatric outcomes. Behavior and cognition are also discussed. The clinical predictors of good and bad outcomes in each domain are described and the gaps in current knowledge are highlighted. Separate chapters examine the methodological challenges associated with long-term outcome studies and the special considerations associated with informed consent in this population. Long-Term Outcomes of Epilepsy Surgery in Adults and Children is essential reading for all members of multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery teams, including neurosurgeons, neurologists and neuropsychologists; it will enable these teams to counsel patients and parents who are considering epilepsy surgery as a therapeutic option.
