  • The Diffusion of Flexibility : Estimating the Incidence of Low-Regulated Working Conditions
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Nordic Journal of Working Life Studies. - : Det Kgl. Bibliotek/Royal Danish Library. - 2245-0157. ; 3:3, s. 99-116
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The purpose of this study is to determine the actual occurrences of flexible working conditions and to demonstrate an instrument for their assessment. Flexibility is discussed as a concept and defined in terms of deregulation of work, and a corresponding increase in self-government and ambiguity. Using empirical data from a national survey of the Swedish labor force, the results show that almost half (47%) of the jobs on the Swedish labor market can be characterized as low, or even unregulated. This means that almost half of the Swedish work force is subjected to working conditions involving a nonnegligible requirement for self-government.

  • The Organization of Markets
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Organization Studies. - : SAGE Publications. - 0170-8406 .- 1741-3044. ; 36:1, s. 7-27
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Markets have sometimes been described as vastly different from and even opposite to formal organizations. But markets and organizations share a similarity as well. Both are organized – by the use of decisionson membership, rules, monitoring, sanctions or hierarchy. Market organization creates differencesamong markets, and specific dynamics, which can be explained by the actions and interactions of marketorganizers: profiteers, ‘others’, sellers and buyers. The concept of market organization is an analyticaltool, which can be used for analysing why and how markets are created, why they get their specific formand how they change.

  • Wicked problems : a mapping review of the literature
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Sustainable Development and World Ecology. - : Taylor & Francis. - 1350-4509 .- 1745-2627. ; 28:6, s. 481-502
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The term ‘wicked problems’ is today widely used in the sustainability literature, but there is no consensus on its theoretical underpinnings or its utility for research. This paper reports on a mapping review of the wicked problems literature for which we analyzed a sample of 55 papers regarding 1. whether and how the term ‘wicked problems’ is used as a theoretical concept, 2. what meanings are associated with the concept, 3. what epistemological assumptions are stated, and 4. what rhetorical functions the concept performs. The results indicate that the concept is not always consistently applied as a theoretical concept; that authors ascribe many different meanings to the concept; that authors use diverse epistemological assumptions that are not always made explicit; and that the concept performs a wide range of rhetorical functions. The results provide a vocabulary that enables sustainability researchers to more clearly position their work in the dispersed wicked problems literature.

  • Informationshantering inom socialtjänsten : resurs eller hinder vid barn- och ungdomsärenden?
  • 1987
  • Ingår i: Social Forskning. - Stockholm : Delegationen för social forskning. ; :4, s. 12-14

  • Youth Politics and Culture in Contemporary Latin America : A Review
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Latin American Politics and Society. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 1531-426X .- 1548-2456. ; 57:2, s. 132-153
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Youth politics in contemporary Latin America diverge from those of previous generations. Increasingly decoupled from parties, unions, and the state, young people glide seamlessly across previously assumed boundaries: culture and politics, individual and organization, subjectivity and collectivity, virtual and real. This article presents findings from a systematic review of research on youth politics and demonstrates the new direction through three main categories: repression, incorporation, and exclusion, relationships between state institutions and youth identities; generational, cultural, and digital lenses, the innovative trends for theorizing current patterns of youth politics; and unsettling politics, the fusion and diffusion of youth political dexterity. The article concludes by highlighting current strengths and proposing future steps to build on this new direction.

  • Mitä sijaissynnytyksissä syntyneistä lapsista tiedetään? [What do we know about children born through surrogacy?]
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Ilmiö. - Helsinki. - 2489-9402.
  • Forskningsöversikt (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • Surrogacy is often described in media and politics dramatically, and with an emphasis on risks. There is very little research on children born in surrogacy, which may also be one reason for the lack of legislation on surrogacy in some countries. Building on theoretical accounts in family and kinship studies, the article explores how surrogacy practices contribute to challenging and changing the boundaries of kinship. The article explores long-term effects of surrogacy by studying the wellbeing of surrogate-born individuals. Through a literature review, the article studies previous research on surrogate-born children and adolescents, and their views on kinship, surrogacy origin and vulnerability. However, there are few studies about children born through surrogacy, and studies of surrogate-born adolescents or adults are very limited. Most previous studies on surrogate-born individuals are psychological longitudinal studies of young children, their adjustment, wellbeing and relation to their parents. The literature review is combined with a few examples from interviews with Finnish parents and surrogate mothers. The article focuses on how respondents reflect on the identities of children born through surrogacy and how parents have told children about their origins.
