- The photo essay, a form of visual journalism that arose during the era of the picture magazines, has reemerged as a regular feature of global news channels, including CNN, BBC World, and, notably, Al Jazeera English, recognized for its live reporting of political unrest. In 2017, a year marked by protest around the world, AJE published over 200 photo-series, including 37 on public protest. An analysis based on a four-year study of protest on screen revealed that these photo essays share characteristics that in turn distinguish them from video broadcasts of public protests. The photo-reportage on screen, like its classic forerunner in print, employs a variety of visual perspectives and focuses on participants who are often quoted and identified by name. Scenes of public protest are complemented by visual and textual reporting from the private/domestic sphere. This visual strategy, in contrast to the immediacy of video coverage from the streets, supports knowledge of the protest issue and engagement with its participants.

Visualtization of one-phase flow in chevron-plate heat exchangers end their performance

- Modern plate heat exchangers with chevron corrugation patterns are spread across a range of applications both in one- and two-phase flow regimes due to their compactness and superior thermal-hydraulic performance when compared to the other types of heat exchangers. Recently a limited number of experimental studies have been undertaken to understand the influence of corrugation angles and the ratio of corrugation depth to,wave length (b/l) On the flow pattern and in turn on the heat transfer and pressure drop. In order to clarify this complex issue, visualization tests have been performed on a model of a Plate heat exchanger (PHE) having only a single channel composed of one metal and one plastic transparent plate with identical corrugation.

- Švedska je bila ponavadi prikazana kot zgleden primer socialnodemokratske ureditve države blaginje (Esping-Andersen, 1996), za katero sta značilna obsežno državno upravljanje in aktivna vključenost v vprašanja družbene dobrobiti. V zadnjih dvajsetih letih pa sta bila švedski javni sektor in edukacijski sistem podvržena radikalni in temeljiti usmeritvi v neoliberalizem, spremembi, ki je sledila obsežni decentralizaciji procesov odločanja, ko so ti prešli iz rok države na raven lokalnih skupnosti in šol. V tem besedilu bomo povzeli naravo, obseg in nekatere posledice notranje in zunanje marketizacije švedske edukacije v prvih letih novega tisočletja, še zlasti pa bomo izpostavili vpliv konkurence na notranje delovanje srednjih šol. Prišli smo do sklepa, da se je zunanja marketizacija zelo razširila in da Švedska v večini vidikov popolnoma sprejema nov javni menedžment, na primer t. i. notranjo marketizacijo edukacije. Navkljub temu pa lahko pri dodeljenih funkcijah, vrednotah in upravljanju edukacije še zmeraj zaznamo posamezne vidike stare socialnodemokratske paradigme.

- Est-ce qu’on peut parler d’un génitif dans les langues romanes? Le roumain est laseule langue romane qui maintient un système casuel, et en plus, il possède un systèmeprépositionnel : de, de la et din) autant que la juxtaposition, mais est-ce qu’on peut parler deces constructions comme génitivales?La notion de génitif est une catégorie problématique. La question sera donc si c’est seulementle cas formel qu’on doit appeler génitif, mais comme il s’agit d’un cas oblique avec desfonctions génitivales en roumain, on ne peut pas considérer ce cas comme un génitif « pur ».Évidemment, il y a certaines fonctions qui identifient le caractère génitival d’uneconstruction, et d’une manière préliminaire on pourrait distinguer la possession etl’appartenance comme les deux fonctions prototypiques du génitif, mais est-ce qu’on peutconsidérer les constructions prépositionnelles dans les langues romanes comme desconstructions génitivales ou non?En nous basant sur un corpus roumain notre intention est de comparer les résultats avec lesusages syntaxiques des autres langues romanes, surtout avec l’italien et le rhéto-roman avecl’intention d’essayer de donner une réponse plus cohérente

- The article presents the results of a research done in rural settlements located within the area of the prospective Dragonja Landscape Park. We analysed documents of local communities, undertook observation of a workshop, and interviewed ten local inhabitants in order to obtain information about local inhabitants’ awareness and their interest in being involved in rural development, and about their valuing of the environment and natural resources, and to gain insight into their expectations in the matters of quality of life. We have established that our respondents are entirely familiar with the past and current development programs and projects, that they are well aware of the importance the protection of natural and cultural heritage has for sustainable development, and that they want to participate actively in the future. With the help of our respondents, observation in the workshop, and analysis of the documents also the less promising aspects of development have been revealed. We found out that local participation was weak in the past, that those who were active are in the minority, and that changes depend on the collective efforts of individuals. Those living in the remote villages located in the area of the prospective Dragonja Landscape Park are few and mostly of advanced age. It seems that the younger ones have resigned themselves to being powerless, and therefore it is urgent, in order to foster their participation in local development, to increase their awareness and motivation and extend their education. We also can expect that the incoming young people will have an important role to play.

Vpliv fizičnega prostora in družbenegaokolja na bralno izkušnjo : izsledki študiješestih fokusnih skupin

- Namen: Namen prispevka je obravnavati branje kot fizično dejavnost, ki je vpisana v prostor in nosi številne sociološke konotacije. Branje analizira kot utelešeno (angl. embodied) in družbeno prakso in ugotavlja medsebojno sodoločenost teh dveh dimenzij.Metodologija/pristop: V fokusnih skupinah smo izvedli pogovore s študenti iz šestih evropskih držav in jih spraševali o vplivu oziroma vlogi, ki jo vrsta besedila, namen branja in bralna naprava igrajo pri izboru konkretnega bralnega okolja. Sodelovalo je 21 deklet in 15 fantov različnih do- in podiplomskih programov s povprečno starostjo 21,5 leta.Rezultati: Izkazalo se je, da sogovorniki večinoma niso brezbrižni do svojega bralnega okolja. Kot prostor branja so najpogosteje navedli dom, knjižnice oziroma čitalnice, poleg tega pa še druge javne kraje, npr. kavarne in parke, okolja, kjer ljudje pogosto berejo, čeprav prvotno niso namenjena branju. Na tej osnovi članek poroča o zaznanih bralnih smernicah in premišlja o njihovih morebitnih implikacijah za akademsko raziskovanje in vsakdanjo prakso.Omejitve raziskave: Vzorec raziskave je majhen, izziv sta predstavljali skupinska dinamika in neverbalna komunikacija.Izvirnost/uporabnost raziskave: Študija se razlikuje od prevladujočih pristopov k branju, ki »bralni um« praviloma obravnavajo kot začasno odvezan od vseh dražljajev v fizičnem okolju. Kot pokaže, prav teh ne gre ignorirati ne v praksi ne v kontekstu raziskovanja.
