- Humanity confronts multiple socio-environmental crises that are also a values crisis (e.g., biodiversity loss, climate change, emergent diseases) {2.1.1; 2.1.2}. There is consensus that environmental decision-making can be enhanced by being more inclusive of nature’s diverse values {2.1.1}. Yet, understanding nature’s values requires grasping different conceptualizations of the ways people interpret and experience human-nature relationships, such as worldviews informed by different knowledge systems, cultures, languages and disciplines. Better engagement of this diversity offers opportunities to make policies more rigorous, effective and inclusive {2.1.2}. Chapter 2 aims to help decision-makers characterize and assess different conceptualizations of the diverse values of nature and how they are expressed, formed and changed (Figure 2.1). It uses scoping, systematic and critical reviews, complemented with regionally- and thematically balanced case studies to assess academic literature, government policies and indigenous and local knowledge (ILK). Findings provide conceptual background for subsequent chapters and insights for decision-makers to engage, manage and incorporate the conceptual diversity of values in governance frameworks that have impact on nature and its contributions to people (Figure 2.2). Key messages highlight (i) concepts that help diagnose policy-relevant challenges and opportunities and (ii) guidance to use these concepts in solutions to achieve better conceptual, practical and ethical outcomes {2.1}.

- Studies of degrowth in tourism have shed light on the phenomenon of lifestyle entrepreneurship, often highlighting these businesses as examples of alternative, non-growth oriented production. This chapter focuses on two examples of lifestyle oriented animal-based tourism in Sweden: horse-related tourism and hunting tourism. It is argued that these enterprises are engaged in decommodification practices, although the individual entrepreneurs do not necessarily identify with an ideologically or politically ‘alternative’ or non-growth position. It is argued that decommodification, or resistance to commodification, is a socially embedded practice. The analysis demonstrates how a non-growth orientation is related to the way passion and responsibility for animals, nature and professional skill is narrated and performed, and how economic valuation and exchange is socially organized and culturally understood within the enterprise and in the operators´ social network. The analysis sheds light on the role of favour exchanges in friendship networks and how gift-economic exchanges are intertwined with market relationships.

- The aim of this chapter is to discuss global environmental change (GEC) through the social construction of nature and notions of authenticity. We will discuss the social construction of nature in a specific context, namely that of different kinds of nature-based tourism. The argument will revolve around what we perceive as a shift in focus from the image of nature as thing to nature as experience, also expressed as a shift from nature as place to nature as globalised locality. We will sketch a development from “traditional” nature tourism practices and rhetoric to the formation of another cultural economy of nature in order to discuss possible effects of GEC on tourist phenomenologies. By structuring our analysis around three aspects of authenticity, we will argue that different nature tourism operators stress the non-essentialist, experiential image of nature, where the destination per se seems to have a secondary role. We further suggest that the non-essentialist and therefore fluid concept of authenticity in tourist experiences might be adaptable to perceptions of change on a global scale. We aim to interpret GEC, although encompassing potentially devastating processes in a great number of ways, as also being able to be incorporated in common discourses of tourist experiences.

- The electrification of drive trains combined with special requirements of the automotive and heavy construction equipment applications drives the development of small, highly integrated and reliable power inverters. To minimize the volume and increase the reliability of the power switching devices a module consisting of SiC devices with double sided cooling capability has been developed. There are several benefits related to cooling the power devices on both sides. The major improvement is the ability to increase the power density, and thereby reduce the number of active switching devices required which in turn reduces costs. Other expected benefits of more efficient cooling are reductions in volume and mass per power ratio. Alternatively, improved reliability margins due to lower temperature swings during operation are can be expected. Removing the wire bonds on the top side of the devices is expected to improve the reliability regardless, since wire bonds are known to be one of the main limitations in power switching devices. In addition, it is possible to design the package with substantially lower inductance, which can allow faster switching of the devices. In this paper the design, simulations and fabrication process of a double sided SiC-based power module are presented.
