- Polymer-based electrolytes based on commercially available epoxy resins were prepared through the addition of a liquid electrolyte, a solution of a lithium salt in an ionic liquid. The polymer monoliths were characterized using impedance spectroscopy, 3-point bending test, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and nitrogen adsorption (BET). The balance of ionic conductivity and flexural modulus is crucially dependent on the relative proportions of epoxy resin to electrolyte. Also the effect of the liquid electrolyte on curing kinetics and processing was assessed by complex viscosity measurements and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Only one out of the three resins investigated exhibited a significant acceleration effect.

- In this Article we describe the OpenMolcas environment and invite the computational chemistry community to collaborate. The open-source project already includes a large number of new developments realized during the transition from the commercial MOLCAS product to the open-source platform. The paper initially describes the technical details of the new software development platform. This is followed by brief presentations of many new methods, implementations, and features of the OpenMolcas program suite. These developments include novel wave function methods such as stochastic complete active space self-consistent field, density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) methods, and hybrid multiconfigurational wave function and density functional theory models. Some of these implementations include an array of additional options and functionalities. The paper proceeds and describes developments related to explorations of potential energy surfaces. Here we present methods for the optimization of conical intersections, the simulation of adiabatic and nonadiabatic molecular dynamics, and interfaces to tools for semiclassical and quantum mechanical nuclear dynamics. Furthermore, the Article describes features unique to simulations of spectroscopic and magnetic phenomena such as the exact semiclassical description of the interaction between light and matter, various X-ray processes, magnetic circular dichroism, and properties. Finally, the paper describes a number of built-in and add-on features to support the OpenMolcas platform with postcalculation analysis and visualization, a multiscale simulation option using frozen-density embedding theory, and new electronic and muonic basis sets.

- We optimized the oxidation and annealing processes for SiGe quantum-well (QW) p-channel Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (pMOSFETs) to maintain the strain in the channel and to suppress or eliminate the Si cap layer parasitic conduction. We fabricated and investigated poly-Si gated MOS capacitors incorporating 2nm low-temperature furnace oxides and optimized ultra-thin Si-cap layers. For these structures, we found that a rapid thermal annealing (RTA) thermal budget of 950°C, 30s could serve as a proper choice for gate dopants activation. © Physica Scripta 2004.

- The purpose is to identify, through a simulation study, how the size of the extra safety stock needed when transferring production vary with uncertainties introduced by the transfer. The study shows that there is a substantial uncertainty increase during production transfer, related to the uncertainty of time to reach steady state. Learning curve factors have the largest impact, while the effects for the production yield factors are about of half their size, but still considerably large in relation to the regular safety stock. The study contributes by structuring the decision problem and indicating the importance of various uncertainties.

- En ergonomisk och teknisk utvärdering genomfördes av en förändring av produktionssystemet i ett elektronikföretag som innebar en ökad automatisering. Själva förändringsprocessen utvärderades också.Automatiseringen av den manuella monteringen och transporten minskade exponeringstiden för manuell montering på systemnivå samt ökade produktiviteten. För den kvarstående manuella monteringen ökade dock repetitiviteten och ensidigheten. Montörerna upplevde också att den psykiska arbetsbelastningen var större i det nya systemet jämfört med det gamla. De ansåg också att de manuella monteringsstationerna som helhet var dåliga arbetsuppgifter.I den studerade förändringsprocessen var bristen på kontinuitet i arbetsledning ett av avdelningens huvudproblem. Arbetsledaren fick också sätta sin prägel på hur produktionsmålen skulle uppfyllas och hur arbetsförhållandena skulle utformas. Därigenom blev det arbetsledaren och inte den handlingsplan med arbetsrotation som en arbetsorganisationsgrupp utformade som avgjorde hur arbetsorganisationen utformades.

Ab initio calculations, Raman and NMR investigation of the plastic crystal di-methyl pyrrolidinium iodide

- Above 110 °C the symmetric di-methyl-pyrrolidinium iodide salt forms a plastic crystal phase of interest in the area of new electrolyte materials. In this study ab initio calculations of this material has been conducted in order to assign the vibrational spectra. Raman spectroscopy measurements on the solid salt as well as on the salt dissolved in different solvents has been performed and these have been compared to the theoretical spectra. Furthermore, Raman spectra as a function of temperature have been recorded to investigate possible changes in inter-ionic interaction and/or structure through the phase transition. 1 H NMR linewidth measurements as a function of temperature showed a large decrease in linewidth above 100 °C, attributed here to an increase in mobility in agreement with a previously reported phase transition at ∼ 110 °C. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd.
