    • There has been growing interest in recent years in the use of homogeneously reprocessed ground-based GNSS, VLBI, and DORIS measurements for climate applications. Existing datasets are reviewed and the sensitivity of tropospheric estimates to the processing details is discussed. The uncertainty in the derived IWV estimates and linear trends is around 1 kg m^2 RMS and ± 0.3 kg m^2 per decade, respectively. Standardized methods for ZTD outlier detection and IWV conversion are proposed. The homogeneity of final time series is limited however by changes in the stations equipment and environment. Various homogenization algorithms have been evaluated based on a synthetic benchmark dataset. The uncertainty of trends estimated from the homogenized times series is estimated to ±0.5 kg m^2 per decade. Reprocessed GNSS IWV data are analysed along with satellites data, reanalyses and global and regional climate model simulations. A selection of global and regional reprocessed GNSS datasets and ERA-interim reanalysis are made available through the GOP-TropDB tropospheric database and online service. A new tropo SINEX format, providing new features and simplifications, was developed and it is going to be adopted by all the IAG services.

    • In this section a summary of the national progress reports is given. GNSS4SWEC Management Committee (MC) members provided outline of the work conducted in their countries combining input from different partners involved. In the COST Action paticipated member from 32 COST countries, 1 Near Neighbour Country and 8 Intrantional Partners from Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and USA. The text reflects the state as of 1 January 2018.

  • Introduction to assessment
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Grasping the future. - : Bentham eBooks. - 9781608054381 - 9781608054398 ; , s. 39-58
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Assessment tools are vital in measuring the outcomes of any practice or procedure. In the development and use of a prosthetic limb, this can be divided into three areas; the basic functions of the design, activities the limb is used for, and the amount the user actually employs the hand in everyday life. Each area is distinct and different and it needs different tools designed specifically for each area in order to reliably measure these outcomes. The development of these tools must include means to make sure the tool measures what the tester thinks it measures and makes sure that such measurements are consistent across time and between testers. Once a consistent set of tools is developed it allows clinicians to discuss and compare devices, training methods and solutions. It also allows investigation of different designs.Currently, the emphasis is on the basic practical measurements of function, activity and participation. This uses simple methods based on observation, timing or questionnaires to measure the use of simple prostheses. With newer designs of multifunction hands and microprocessor controllers being introduced, there are more varied control methods for the different hands. This requires more sophisticated methods to measure the impact of the new designs. These new methods include the measurement of the motions of the body and upper limbs with optical methods, and looking at measuring the cognitive load that controlling such hands impose on the user. To allow simple comparisons between users, the tasks and methods have to be constrained. This creates more artificial activities which may themselves be too artificial to tell the observer what they need to know, so the choice of activity is a balance between realistic tasks and reliable results.

  • Collaborative commentary : how do teachers support children as citizens?
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: International perspectives on educating for democracy in early childhood. - New York : Routledge. - 9781032135007 - 9781032135014 - 9781000865769 - 9781003229568 ; , s. 321-323
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This commentary traces shared themes across the six chapters of Part III of this volume. The examples of classroom practice presented in this part highlight the important role of critical dialogue and inclusive practices as foundations of global citizenship education. When classroom conversations engage students with big ideas and interrogate structural privilege and when they recognize and welcome all perspectives, children experience citizenship that works toward justice, sustainability, and democracy. Examples from the chapters also suggest that prevailing societal attitudes about children's competence may work against efforts to help children recognize their agency within classrooms. Implications for teacher preparation and future research are discussed.

  • Robust QCM-Based Sensing and Assay Formats in Commercialized Systems
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Springer Series on Chemical Sensors and Biosensors. - : Springer.
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Attana’s Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) analytical instruments have been developed to study in vitro biological interactions, mimicking the in vivo conditions. Attana’s superior technology for kinetic interaction studies allows to perform different assays, including biochemical, crude, sera, cell, and tissue-based, in vitro diagnostic and material chemistry assays, in real time and label free. With the focus to validate, select, and optimize drug candidates prior to clinical trials, Attana has helped pharmaceutical companies to increase their efficiency and profitability. In addition, the Attana instruments and services have been used in many other applications and research as described in this chapter.
