  • To which world regions does the valence-dominance model of social perception apply?
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Nature Human Behaviour. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2397-3374. ; 5:1, s. 159-169
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Over the past 10 years, Oosterhof and Todorov's valence-dominance model has emerged as the most prominent account of how people evaluate faces on social dimensions. In this model, two dimensions (valence and dominance) underpin social judgements of faces. Because this model has primarily been developed and tested in Western regions, it is unclear whether these findings apply to other regions. We addressed this question by replicating Oosterhof and Todorov's methodology across 11 world regions, 41 countries and 11,570 participants. When we used Oosterhof and Todorov's original analysis strategy, the valence-dominance model generalized across regions. When we used an alternative methodology to allow for correlated dimensions, we observed much less generalization. Collectively, these results suggest that, while the valence-dominance model generalizes very well across regions when dimensions are forced to be orthogonal, regional differences are revealed when we use different extraction methods and correlate and rotate the dimension reduction solution. • Performance analysis of flat plate hybrid PV/thermal configurations
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - : American Institute of Physics (AIP). - 9780735443570
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In the recent times many hybrid renewable energy sources are developed. In that, hybrid PV/Thermal gains the more attention than other hybrid sources. In the present work, made a performance analysis of different PV/Thermal configurations. The flat plate configurations have the more feasibility for the domestic applications than the concentrated type. In this paper, liquid, air, nano fluid, phase change material and Thermoelectric generator type configurations are presented. The performance analysis of all configurations done with energy output generation and efficiency of the system.

  • Electrochemical performance of plasma sprayed metal supported planar solid oxide fuel cells
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: ECS Transactions. - : The Electrochemical Society. - 1938-5862 .- 1938-6737. ; 68:1, s. 1791-1802
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High production cost is one of the major barriers to widespread commercialization of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Thermal spray techniques are a low cost alternative for the production of SOFCs. The objective of this work was to evaluate the electrochemical performance of half-cells produced by plasma spraying. The anode was deposited on a porous metallic support by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) whereas the electrolyte was deposited by plasma spray-thin film (PS-TF) technique which can produce thin and dense coatings at high deposition rates. The cathode was deposited by screen-printing. The electrochemical tests were performed at 650-800°C. Current-voltage characteristics and impedance spectra were measured and analyzed. The impact of electrolyte composition and layer thickness on the gas tightness of the electrolyte and the area specific resistance of the cell is discussed. The results show that the applied thermal spraying techniques are a potential alternative for producing SOFCs. © The Electrochemical Society.

  • Effect of Heat Treatment on Mechanical Properties and Corrosion Performance of Cold-Sprayed Tantalum Coatings
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Journal of thermal spray technology (Print). - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1059-9630 .- 1544-1016. ; 25:4, s. 745-756
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The cold-spray technique is of significant interest to deposit refractory metals with relatively high melting point for a variety of demanding applications. In the present study, mechanical properties of cold-sprayed tantalum coatings heat treated at different temperatures were investigated using microtensile testing, scratch testing, and nanoindentation. The corrosion performance of heat-treated coatings was also evaluated in 1 M KOH solution, and potentiodynamic polarization as well as impedance spectroscopy studies were carried out. Assessment of structure–property correlations was attempted based on microstructure, porosity, and intersplat bonding state, together with mechanical and corrosion properties of the heat-treated cold-sprayed tantalum coatings. Coatings annealed at 1500 °C, which is very close to the recrystallization temperature of tantalum, were found to perform almost as bulk tantalum, with exciting implications for various applications.

  • Influence of annealing on mechanical and electrochemical properties of cold sprayed niobium coatings
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Surface & Coatings Technology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0257-8972 .- 1879-3347. ; 296, s. 124-135
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Abstract In the present study, thick and dense niobium coatings were obtained using cold spray technique by using air as a process gas. Inter-splat boundaries are completely removed in the coatings heat treated at 1500 °C by the formation of equiaxed grains. Heat treatment reduces the porosity level to 0.1%. Inter-splat boundary bonding state of the heat treated coatings was investigated using micro-tensile testing, scratch testing and nanoindentation and compared with the bulk niobium. The elastic modulus of the cold spray coatings heat treated at 1500 °C exhibits as high as 103 GPa whereas the same for bulk is 105 GPa. The increase in mechanical strength of inter-splat boundary from as-sprayed condition to 1500 °C was estimated to be 750%. Similarly corrosion performance of heat treated coatings was also evaluated in 1 M KOH solution through potentiodynamic polarization as well as impedance spectroscopy studies. The corrosion rate for the coatings heat treated at 1500 °C was estimated to be 0.443 MPY which is comparable for the bulk (0.498 MPY). Coatings annealed at 1250 °C and above, which is very close to the recrystallization temperature of niobium, were found to perform almost as bulk niobium indicating exciting implications for various applications. Assessment of structure–property correlations was done based on the microstructure, porosity and inter-splat bonding state, together with the mechanical and corrosion properties of the heat treated tantalum cold sprayed coatings.

  • Investigation of compaction behavior of alumina nano powder
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Powder Technology. - 0032-5910 .- 1873-328X. ; 224, s. 90-95
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper investigates the impact of natural agglomerates on powder processing and consolidation through a comprehensive study of compaction of alumina powders of different particle size (ranging from 10 to 650 nm) and shape (spherical and irregular). The yield points of individual powders were determined from the green density-pressure relationship to ascertain the effect of initial particle size on agglomeration. The effect of surface modification by binder addition, which suppresses the significance of the initial particle size, was also studied. Diametral compression tests were carried out to estimate the green strength of the compacts. Results revealed that the green strength is strongly influenced not only by the initial particle size but also by the particle size distribution. The diametrically broken samples were subjected to fractographic studies followed by image analysis to calculate the agglomerate area fraction. The area fraction was found to be high for samples with low green strength and vice versa. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
