- Folding of digital prints has been investigated experimentally in order to determine the influence from different features on the residual strength of the folded paper. In particular, the effect of toner-layer, paper-fibre orientation and pre-creasing is investigated and the experimental results are supplemented with numerical ones based on the finite element method. The results indicate that creasing, and to a less extend also fibre orientation, is the most important factor influencing the residual tensile strength after folding

- På Kartografiska Sällskapets årsmöte i Jönköping den 21 mars beslutades att inrätta en ny sektion inom sällskapet – en utbildningssektion. Denna artikel beskriver bakgrunden till sektionen och dess verksamhetsidé. Utbildningssektionens embryo tillkom för tre år sedan efter förslag från ULI som delegerade uppgiften till Geomatikprogrammet vid Högskolan i Gävle. Tanken vara att skapa ett forum för lärare inom geomatikområdet. Både för att sammanföra lärare från olika lärosäten, för att öka förståelsen för varandras arbeten, och för att kunna förbättra möjligheterna till samarbete.

- NOVELTY - The method involves selection a radio access technology e.g. wireless local area network (WLAN), wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) for communication device (9) for downloading radio software from download server (1). The radio software is downloaded through the available access technology and the downloaded software designed for the technology is stored in memory. USE - For providing communication device e.g. mobile terminal such as CDMA phone, GSM phone, lap top, personal computer with modem, pager, personal digital assistant (PDA) with radio software from software download server for providing radio access technologies (RAT) e.g. WCDMA, GSM/GRPS, WLAN, IEEE 802.11a, IEEE.11b . ADVANTAGE - Downloads or upgrades software intended for one radio access technology over an available radio access technology supported by the device. The software download can be performed as a background process that does not have to be coordinated with or blocking other types of traffic including data, control traffic or wireless services. - NOVELTY - Involves enabling one node in the system to function as a central node which can make measurements on a frequency in a frequency band used by the system. The measurements detect if a frequency is being used by a transmitter foreign to the system. USE - For use in a wireless communications system with several broadcasting nodes e.g. Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). ADVANTAGE - Enables WLAN to detect if e.g. nearby radar system transmitter is using same frequency and to take necessary steps if so. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The measurement is enabled by the central node transmitting a message to other nodes in the system. The message is predefined within the system as a message prohibiting all nodes from transmitting during a certain interval. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows the signaling used when making measurements according to the method.
