- The aim of this study is to explore whether trends in sustainability and digitalisation from the 1980s until today have left any significant practical or epistemological footprints on the quality management paradigm. The study design consists of a mixed-methods approach that applies a data-mining methodology and content analysis to the digital archives of eight scientific journals: six within the quality management (QM) domain and two with a focus on operations management (OM). The data set contains an unbroken time series of over 12,000 research paper abstracts, the first of them published in 1980, giving the study a coverage of almost 40 years. The findings show that sustainability came onto the scholarly scene in 1996 and has since become an increasingly popular research area. In regard to digitalisation, the story is quite different, as the concept is currently absent from the scholarly QM and OM literatures. However, a search for information technology (IT) and information systems (IS) revealed that these topics have been gaining attention since the 1980s. However, it was found that QM research only addresses one part of digitalisation, omitting several interesting dimensions. One example is that the QM and OM literatures address IS mainly in relation to standardised guidelines and business processes within organisations. At the same time, we found a handful of studies combining QM and topics related to modern digitisation, like social media.

- Compaction of additively manufactured Ti6Al4V components by Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) is often applied to eliminate porosity, producing fully dense material. In the present work shelled samples produced by Electron Beam Melting with the Arcam process (EBM) were compacted by HIP to produce fully dense samples. Cylindrical samples were studied. The walls of the cylinders were built with EBM, and the powder from the process was left uncompacted inside the cylinders. Samples with different wall thicknesses were produced. The samples were thereafter subjected to a HIP compaction. The critical wall thicknesses needed for compaction were evaluated, and the microstructures characterized. The results show that fully dense samples, with very fine microstructures, are possible.

- This paper presents a non-contact method for making relative measurements of the resistance of surface mounted resistors. An application of this technique is in automatic test equipment, i.e. within the limitations of resolution and accuracy of the measuring system it is possible to detect if incorrect resistor values are mounted on a printed board assembly. Measurements are made on two specially designed test boards. Two different measurement systems are used of which one is based on thermopiles and the other is a heat camera equipped with a QWIP (Quantum Well Intersubband Photodetector) detector. The detection of a minimum change of resistance, corresponding to a change of approximately 5 mW in dissipated electrical power, was achieved. Simulations of resistor board systems using; THERMIC 6.6, THERMICPCB 6.6, and Flotherm 3.2; and a dissipation power model are presented as a demonstration of predictions of the thermal fingerprint of a circuit board.

- γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) is a primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the human brain. It has been shown that altered GABA concentration plays an important role in a variety of psychiatric and neurological disorders. The main purpose of this study was to propose a combination of PRESS and MEGA-PRESS acquisitions for absolute GABA quantification and to compare GABA estimations obtained using total choline (tCho), total creatine (tCr), and total N-acetyl aspartate (tNAA) as the internal concentration references with water referenced quantification. The second aim was to demonstrate the fitting approach of MEGA-PRESS spectra with QuasarX algorithm using a basis set of GABA, glutamate, glutamine, and NAA in vitro spectra. Thirteen volunteers were scanned with the MEGA-PRESS sequence at 3T. Interleaved water referencing was used for quantification, B0 drift correction and to update the carrier frequency of RF pulses in real time. Reference metabolite concentrations were acquired using a PRESS sequence with short TE (30 ms) and long TR (5000 ms). Absolute concentration were corrected for cerebrospinal fluid, gray and white matter water fractions and relaxation effects. Water referenced GABA estimations were significantly higher compared to the values obtained by metabolite references. We conclude that QuasarX algorithm together with the basis set of in vitro spectra improves reliability of GABA+ fitting. The proposed GABA quantification method with PRESS and MEGA-PRESS acquisitions enables the utilization of tCho, tCr, and tNAA as internal concentration references. The use of different concentration references have a good potential to improve the reliability of GABA estimation.
