  • Imaging single DNA molecules for high precision NIPT
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Scientific reports. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 2045-2322. ; 8:1, s. 4549-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cell-free DNA analysis is becoming adopted for first line aneuploidy screening, however for most healthcare programs, cost and workflow complexity is limiting adoption of the test. We report a novel cost effective method, the Vanadis NIPT assay, designed for high precision digitally-enabled measurement of chromosomal aneuploidies in maternal plasma. Reducing NIPT assay complexity is achieved by using novel molecular probe technology that specifically label target chromosomes combined with a new readout format using a nanofilter to enrich single molecules for imaging and counting without DNA amplification, microarrays or sequencing. The primary objective of this study was to assess the Vanadis NIPT assay with respect to analytical precision and clinical feasibility. Analysis of reference DNA samples indicate that samples which are challenging to analyze with low fetal-fraction can be readily detected with a limit of detection determined at <2% fetal-fraction. In total of 286 clinical samples were analysed and 30 out of 30 pregnancies affected by trisomy 21 were classified correctly. This method has the potential to make cost effective NIPT more widely available with more women benefiting from superior detection and false positive rates.

  • Nanoimprint - a tool for realizing nano-bio research
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: 2004 4th IEEE Conference on Nanotechnology. - 0780385365 ; , s. 199-200
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, we present a status report on how implementation of nanoimprint lithography has advanced our research. Contact guidance nerve growth experiments have so far primarily been done on micrometer-structured surfaces. We have made a stamp with 17 areas of different, submicron, line width and spacing covering a total 2.6 mm

  • Pyrite and sphalerite trace element redistribution during metamorphism of the Rävliden North VMS deposit, northern Sweden
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Geological Society of Sweden, 150 year anniversary meeting: Abstract volume. ; , s. 154-157
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The Rävliden North volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposit and its host rocks exhibit a shared history of metamorphism during the 1.88–1.86 Ga deformation phases of the Svecokarelian orogeny. Predominantly internal sulphide remobilisation produced minor modifications to the overall pre-metamorphic trace element distribution including remobilisation. Post-Svecokarelian sulphide-bearing zeolite- and calcite veinlets cross-cut the stratigraphic hanging wall suggesting mobilisation of sulphides in a fluid phase during an overprinting later event unrelated to the VMS mineralisation.

  • Fitting Rävliden North Zn-Pb-Ag-Cu deposit host stratigraphy into regional Skellefte district nomenclature
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Geological Society of Sweden, 150 year anniversary meeting: Abstract volume. - : Geologiska Föreningen. ; , s. 156-157
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Lithofacies logging from Rävliden North in the Skellefte district is presented, and the use of lithostratigraphic names in deposit scale mapping is discussed. The authors conclude that while Skellefte district nomenclature can be applied, it cannot preserve the level of detail relevant to exploration

  • Analysis of early respiratory-related mortality after radiation therapy of non-small-cell lung cancer : feasibility of automatic data extraction for dose–response studies
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Acta Oncologica. - 0284-186X. ; 59:6, s. 628-635
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose: To examine the feasibility of automatic data extraction from clinical radiation therapy (RT) databases at four hospitals to investigate the impact of mean lung dose (MLD) and age on the risk of early respiratory-related death and early overall death for patients treated with RT for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Material and methods: We included adult patients with NSCLC receiving curatively intended RT between 2002 and 2017 at four hospitals. A script was developed to automatically extract RT-related data. The cause of death for patients deceased within 180 days of the start of RT was retrospectively assessed. Using logistic regression, the risks of respiratory-related death and of overall death within 90 and 180 days were investigated using MLD and age as variables. Results: Altogether, 1785 patients were included in the analysis of early overall mortality and 1655 of early respiratory-related mortality. The respiratory-related mortalities within 90 and 180 days were 0.9% (15/1655) and 3.6% (60/1655). The overall mortalities within 90 and 180 days were 2.5% (45/1785) and 10.6% (190/1785). Higher MLD and older age were associated with an increased risk of respiratory-related death within 180 days and overall death within 90 and 180 days (all p<.05). For example, the risk of respiratory-related death within 180 days and their 95% confidence interval for patients aged 65 and 75 years with MLDs of 20 Gy was according to our logistic model 3.8% (2.6–5.0%) and 7.7% (5.5–10%), respectively. Conclusions: Automatic data extraction was successfully used to pool data from four hospitals. MLD and age were associated with the risk of respiratory-related death within 180 days of the start of RT and with overall death within 90 and 180 days. A model quantifying the risk of respiratory-related death within 180 days was formulated.

  • Nanoconfined circular DNA
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: 18th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences, MicroTAS 2014. - 9780979806476 ; , s. 1353-1355
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Studies of nanoconfined circular DNA are of interest both from a biological as well as a fundamental polymer physics perspective. We here present the use of nanofluidic channels as a tool for comparing statics and dynamics of the linear and circular configuration of the same DNA molecule.

  • Nanoelectrochemical transducers for (bio-) chemical sensor applications fabricated by nanoimprint lithography
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Microelectronic Engineering. - 1873-5568. ; 73-74, s. 837-842
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Nanometer-structured transducers for commercial use in pharmaceutical, medical or (bio-) chemical analysis have so far been hardly accessible since they could not be produced by parallel lithography techniques at reasonable costs. We introduce here a method on. how to fabricate nanometer-structured interdigitated array electrodes including interconnections and bond pads in the micrometer range in a single imprint step on 2-in. wafer scale. The method enables the mass production of those devices at lowest cost opening a new field for the commercial use of nanometer-structured sensor systems.
