  • Electrical properties of MOS structures based on 3C-SiC(111) epilayers grown by Vapor-Liquid-Solid Transport and Chemical-Vapor Deposition on 6H-SiC(0001)
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - : AIP Publishing. - 9780735408470 ; , s. 55-58
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The electrical properties of post-oxidized PECVD oxides in wet oxygen based on 3C-SiC(111) epilayers grown by Vapor-Liquid-Solid and Chemical-Vapor-Deposition mechanisms on 6H-SiC(0001) have been studied. Different 6H-SiC(0001) samples exhibiting diverse crystal orientations (on-axis, 2 degrees off-axis) and growth conditions were regarded. A comparative study of oxide qualities has been carried out via capacitance and conductance measurements (C-G-V). Achieved interface traps densities and effective oxide charges were compared for the different samples. Reliability issues have been considered via current measurements (I-V and TZDB) and statistical data treatment techniques (Weibull plots). Oxides based on 3C-SiC layer grown by a process combining VLS and CVD methods demonstrated low interface states densities D-it of 1.2 x 10(10) eV(-1)cm(-2) at 0.63 eV below the conduction band and fixed oxide charges Q(eff)/(g) estimated to -0.1 x 10(11) cm(-2)

  • Numerical simulation of a plasma actuator on a half-submerged cylinder
  • 2013
  • Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this paper Large Eddy Simulations are used to study the reduction of drag that can be achieved on a half-submerged cylinder by using a type of plasma actuator: the single dielectric barrier discharge. Two body force models, one based on an exponential decrease of the force away from the plasma, the other based on a simplified electric field between the electrodes, are compared to experimental values when the actuator is positioned at the apex of the cylinder in an otherwise quiescent environment. The cylinder is then put in a crossflow, and the exponential-based model, which gives the velocity profiles the closest to the experimental data, is used to simulate the effect of the plasma actuator on such a flow. The reduction in drag is changed as the position of the actuator is varied.

  • Planet Formation Imager (PFI) : Science vision and key requirements
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Optical and Infrared Interferometry and Imaging V. - : SPIE. - 9781510601932 ; 9907
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Planet Formation Imager (PFI) project aims to provide a strong scientific vision for ground-based optical astronomy beyond the upcoming generation of Extremely Large Telescopes. We make the case that a breakthrough in angular resolution imaging capabilities is required in order to unravel the processes involved in planet formation. PFI will be optimised to provide a complete census of the protoplanet population at all stellocentric radii and over the age range from 0.1 to ∼100 Myr. Within this age period, planetary systems undergo dramatic changes and the final architecture of planetary systems is determined. Our goal is to study the planetary birth on the natural spatial scale where the material is assembled, which is the "Hill Sphere" of the forming planet, and to characterise the protoplanetary cores by measuring their masses and physical properties. Our science working group has investigated the observational characteristics of these young protoplanets as well as the migration mechanisms that might alter the system architecture. We simulated the imprints that the planets leave in the disk and study how PFI could revolutionise areas ranging from exoplanet to extragalactic science. In this contribution we outline the key science drivers of PFI and discuss the requirements that will guide the technology choices, the site selection, and potential science/technology tradeoffs.

  • The TENDL library : Hope, reality and future
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Nd 2016 Bruges. - Les Ulis : EDP Sciences. - 9782759890200
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The TALYS Evaluated Nuclear Data Library (TENDL) has now 8 releases since 2008. Considerable experience has been acquired for the production of such general-purpose nuclear data library based on the feedback from users, evaluators and processing experts. The backbone of this achievement is simple and robust: completeness, quality and reproducibility. If TENDL is extensively used in many fields of applications, it is necessary to understand its strong points and remaining weaknesses. Alternatively, the essential knowledge is not the TENDL library itself, but rather the necessary method and tools, making the library a side product and focusing the efforts on the evaluation knowledge. The future of such approach will be discussed with the hope of nearby greater success.
